Finesse Jig Weight
What weight jig are you throwing on light tackle the MOST.. Neds, Sliders, Shaky Heads, Grub heads, etc. 1/16, 1/8, 3/16, or 1/4? Just curious.....

L to R? or R to L?
Get off the banks...fish structure....lol. I usually go right to left to see my FF that swivels at the console.

Carolina Rig
Wow...what a thread..can't add much here except the hookset on a C-Rig should be a reel down into the fish and sweep. At least that's what works for me especially heavier weights.

Dropshot Water Visibility
I've been throwing a drop shot some for about 2 years in off color water...never muddy but far from clear with good results. Even at night in the summer, so you definitely don't need cold, deep clear water. I use bigger worms...my favorite is a Zoom trickworm in a darker color of your choice. (Black, California 420, Bullfrog.) I like the Kentucky Flash color in sunny conditions when the water is a little clearer.

Shelf Life of CoPoly (Gamma) Line?
I had a bulk spool of Gamma that I kept in my basement for many years. It was fine. I picked up a tip from somebody here to just keep it in a cooler, so now I keep all line in an old lunchbox size Coleman cooler in my garage.

When to set the hook?
Ahh..yes $1.96 Arkie jigs..you're speaking my language. The Bluegill color is what fooled my PB.

Suspended Bass
I guess I knew this but now I'm rethinking targeting suspended fish at all. If they're suspended and not active where I'm at somewhere else they could've moved up onto structure and feeding like crazy. Shouldn't they be roughly at the same depth on a given day? I always hear that depth is the most important question to ask where they were caught at.

When to set the hook?
I starting reeling and drop the rod immediately and set when the slack is out. If the bite is at the end of a long cast, I reel into the fish a little and then set.

Suspended Bass
Thanks Tom, I've got a lot of standiing timber and newly acquired brushpile way points that I'm chomping at the bit to get to try to pick some off.

Suspended Bass
Not sure how to start this topic...so I'll just jump in with how I see it and am more than willing to be corrected here. So people talk about targeting suspended bass, but aren't all bass suspended? I mean... they dont have legs walking around. So they are suspended somewhere in the water column...anywhere from right down by the bottom...to up close to the surface when we get lucky to see them busting shad. I also graph a lot around that mid-level..in 20 fow, its common for me to see them in that 10 ft range. So the ones up high are more likely to be active..right...using the surface to trap baitfish? And the ones down close to the bottom can also be a good target. Its the mid-level ones that most people are referring to here when talking about fish being neutral. And isn't that where they spend most of their time..not feeding, just hanging out. Its kind of like us...we only eat a few times a day. Do they suspend higher or lower in stained water vs clear? Do Largemouth, Smallmouth, and Spots suspend differently? Are Bass that are suspended next to trees, bridge pilings, etc., more active than ones in open water? So many questions..and so little time before my ice melts...lol

Non tournament guys
I have 4 spinning and 2 casting currently..most days I only keep 3 or 4 out. Varies from jig, t-rig, light finesse (slider/light head type), drop shot, crank, etc.

ned rig and slider similarities
Mid depths or along the bottom? I trying to up my suspended fish game..lol

Strong winds on Okeechobee
Never been there ....but a South wind on KY lake at 17 keeps me off the main lake. Most smaller lakes takes more than that.

ned rig and slider similarities
I totally agree...I never officially joined the "Ned Club" but there is definitely crossover. I read the book recently and really think its a great read. Charlie points out in the book or video that it's not his heads that make the system. But I've always been a fan of the Slider head just because it comes through brush better than most other heads..IMO.

How Many States?
In 2017...KY & FL...and dangerously close to TN on Barkley/Cumberland River one day.

Fish are smart? Or just not there?
They gone....Ponds can't handle 20 to 60 fish a day being removed. And thats just the ones you know about.

Boat vs boat
That gave me the chills..
- Do bass usually stay around cover when they are deep? (15'ish)

Slidin High/Depth & Speed Control
I know Charlie taught it was the system..not his jigs that made it work but do you guys use the 1/8 or 1/16 more? I already had some of their 1/8's ...I picked up a pack of their Crappie 1/16's.

Slidin High/Depth & Speed Control
Thats how I see me fishing it the most. While I was waiting for the book, I found some footage of Charlie Sr. out on YouTube to get a feel for the book. In the video, from the 80's and after the book, he mentioned that Largemouth are usually on or near the bottom. So I'm wondering how much of the suspended text in the book will pertain to my off color water and green fish. I don't have lakes where I can target Smallies except when I make the 3 hour drive to Dale which I don't do often. Charlie's other bottom retrieve is the pull and drop which I've already been doing for years. The way I was taught to fish a Texas Rig.

Slidin High/Depth & Speed Control
Just finished up reading 'Charlie Brewer on Slider Fishin' and I gotta say its one of the best fishing books I've read. For $6.95, it was a steal with the amount of info in that book. Published back in 1978, but he was way ahead of his time with finesse fishing. One question...I've fished them for years, but I've always fished them "married to the bottom" as he says in the book. When you guys are targeting mid depths, do you countdown to the depth, or like he mentions in the book, let the reel speed determine the depth? For example, casting out and immediately retrieving at certain speeds....1 sec per turn for shallow, 2 to 3 secs per turn for mid depth, 4 to 5 for deep. It's probably splitting hairs but I've always just done the countdown method although most of my fish come off the bottom anyway. Thanks....

Why color your braid?
I color the first 10 feet of hi viz braid with dark green. Not for the fish really, but it helps me with depth control when vertically jigging and somewhat when casting. I'm not convinced if the fish care one way or the other.

How far south for winter bass
I live 10 miles below the line and it's 0 outside with a -8 wind chill this morning. I'd keep driving South, maybe to Tennessee and try there...lol

Hi-Vis braid
A lot of people seem to like 832 so you probably can't go wrong. One thing I do is use a green marker on high viz braid, not to camo for the fish so much because I don't think they care. But it helps me with depth control. I mark up 10 feet of line with green. Really has helped me this Fall vertically jigging for deep Crappie. Obviously when casting with line at an angle it's not exactly at 10 but seems to help with suspended fish and to a point when your pulling it off drops.
