I'd also reconmend the higher end pluegers over the shimanos.

The smoke inshore and the older energy pti's. Both have held up great. I use them in both fresh and salt water. I have a shimano stradic ci that has developed spool play. I am in the process of gettng rid of the energy pti's and am goin to buy more Smokes.
