fished my club tourny yesterday out of harney pond and it was BRUTAL!!. the wind was howling at 25-30 mph and it was freezing. started out on the north shore, then the monkey box but the wind just blew you way too fast across any area. my partner yeserday did not have a power pole, so it was useless to try and work those areas. we went into the seven mile ditch to try and scratch up a small limit. using giggy heads, we did just that and ended up with 9.70 pounds. everyone of our fish were litle fish that were 14-15 inches, but these dudes were fat. fortunately we won with that small weight. a lot of boats zeroed or had 1 fish. as i look out my window this morning, i see that there is not a lick of wind. i am sure today is good up there. figures.

all star big boy series. i use the 7'2' for both frog and big swim baits. great rod for $100.

just spoke with all star and they said send it in with a $20 check and if they deem it was broken under fishing conditions, then they will replace it. i swung a 3 pounder with grass on it and it snapped. i hope they consider that fishing conditions.

thanks cart. the rod I bought from you snapped at the second guide. how old was that rod? i see they have a 3 year warranty. man i love that rod. i hope the warranty still exists.

agreed. most halftime shows are by "so called" performers who lip sync. at least they actually played live. i thought they sounded pretty good.

finally! someone who actually knows football! anyone who has ever played football knows that teams have their "go to" plays and that was one of the colts'. i work with some guys who are saying that payton "threw" that game and i just laugh at them. that was a GREAT defensive play. i just wish more nfl db's would start making them. nowadays most nfl db's are too afraid to take chances. deion sanders was the absolute best and taking those chances. the nfl rigged? that is as comical as brett favre being overrated.

i throw dippers with my 7'6 carrot stick, 50# power pro, shimano chronarch 50mg or the exact setup with a shimano citica. i use 5/0 ewg gamy's with no weight. 2 of my friends hate throwing dippers because of the reasons you just stated. i have a 90% hookup rate when i use them. this does not count losing fish in the grass, because that is an entirely different issue. the problem i see my friends having is this. when they set the hook, they are setting up vertically instead of sweeping. when i set the hook with a dipper i sweep and walk away from the fish (towards the back of the boat). another problem i see with my friends is that they set the hook as soon as they feel or see the strike. i find it similar to a frog bite when setting up. little fish will hit the dipper differently than a big fish will. by this i mean, a big fish will thump it and hit from the side, where as a little fish will swim behind it and grab just the tail. not all strikes are like this, but most are. try the sweeping hook set and see if that helps. i would also try a longer stick with heavy action and a fast tip. hope this helps.

does anyone own a ranger intracoastal? i just sold my boat and I am getting a 1999 r91 sport intracoastal. i have fished on it a couple of times. i was wondering what the pros and cons are? i can't wait to get it.

great investment. don't let anyone tell you otherwise. your fishing will improve for sure. it allows you to pole down and thoroughly cover an area. yes they are expensive, but what in fishng isn't. both of my partners have them and they are worth every penny. i am getting a new rig in april and the first thing i get is a pp. in florida they can be amazingly effective because of the low water depths and heavy winds.

matt--i went out today from 3-5:30 and caught around a dozen. i went west and the biggest was 3 pounds. i decided to fish the open flat right by the ramp and i banged a 5 pounder on a dipper. i also saw a ton of beds in the north canal. let me know when you go and i will try to meet you out there. later bro.

matt, don't sweat the gators man. if you leave them alone, they wll leave you alone. if you do go, just turn the corner and start fishing that open water flat. you will start catching them instantly. let me know when you decide you are going.

i was at my club meeting last night and a member has roughly 60 brand new in the box curados 200e's for $150. i believe they are $179 retail. i can also get citicas for $100. if interested let me know. i would post this in the flea market, but i do not want to deal with shipping and what not.

fished lox yesterday from sun up to noon and stroked them. fished west and ripped lipless crankbaits over the eel grass. big fish was easily 6 pounds. 5 best went 20 pounds. i also fished the north canal and saw tons of beds. no females were locked, but there were easily 100 beds in a half a mile stretch. soon brothers---soon.

my club and i have stayed there dozens of times and had zero problems. camp mack is a great place to stay. it is old school florida.

i am even glad to see the peacock population take a hit. all of the others like the cichlids, clown knifefish, and plecos need to be removed. nature has a funny way of balancing things out. only the strong survive.

fished a tourny today at holiday. i ran to the fingers and saw 100's of dead cichlids, tilapia, and peacocks. didn't get a single bite. ran to the miami canal and caught a limit in about 20 minutes. all small fish. finished 4th with 6 pounds. even in the miami canal there were 100's of dead cichlids and many dead peacocks.
