  1. fished the last round of qualifiers for king of the glades yesterday. ran to the alley where i found some fish on wednesday and caught a small limit within an hour. i was fishing the south side between bridges 4-6. decided to try the north side and picked up 2 four pounders in about an hour. culled a couple of times but those two fish helped out tremendously because everyone seemed to struggle. we needed to finish within the top 20 to make the classic via points, but ended up third and making it in that way (top 4 boats of each event automatically make the classic). it was work getting that sack. flipped up one of the 4 pounders and got the other on a horny. rest came on dippers, swim jig.
  2. sweet so fla. lox is hot. my friends went out last night and had easily 20 pounds within the first hour. i have kotg tomorrow otherwise i would be at lox. right on bro.
  3. i was in the keys one year snorkeling for lobster in about 12-15 feet of water. towards the end of the day a friend of mine found a gold mine of keepers on this ledge at 22 feet. i went down and cleaned up every keeper and when i got in the boat, my friend said "dude your eye is completely blood shot. went to the doctor and he said the pressure caused a vessel to pop. it looks gnarly, but it will go away in a couple of weeks.
  4. thanks fellas. i'm so stoked about the boat. i got a 99 ranger r91 intracoastal w/ a yamaha 200 vmax. this boat is soooo different from my little pathfinder flats boat. i bought it off of a retired doctor friend of mine and the engine only has 200 very babied hours. it was garage kept and super clean. the only thing that sucks is the gas (literally). no more $20 fuel stops that last 3 trips. can't wait to get her on lake o. south fla, don't waste your time on the flats, there are some big ones at the west bend and they are EATING. and of course use skinny's. i did catch a couple on a lipless with the back hook off, but it is a lot of work cleaning the bait constantly. piscicidal-will do. i think i have seen you out there a couple of times. i love lox. close to home, and loaded with big fish.
  5. picked up my new boat (used) yesterday and fished lox yesterday from 2-7 and caught 30. one that went around 4 and one that was 5ish. didn't weigh them but the have been the same 4-6 pound fish that we have been catching lately.
  6. i also went out yesterday and STROKED 'em! we only weighed 4 fish, but they went 5.8, 4.15, 4.11, and 4.6. we had a buch more that were real close to 4 pounds. at least 30 mish in the 2-3 pound range. fished from 2:30 to 7:30. i think i saw you out there yesterday kdubya. i was in the triton. it was a great night. the pic below was a fish that weighed 4.6. and the second pic was of how all the fish were eating last night.
  7. i fished sunday and last night at lox. both days we caught fish. no real size, a 4 pounder being the biggest. fished the west end in the eel grass with dippers and traps. lots of small fish. the fish are there, just gotta figure out what mamma wants.
  8. x3 on sawgrass for numbers of fish caught. the only problem you will have going to hp, is the good bite is on the alley. that is a good haul in those little rental boats. if you do go to hp, go up the center canal past the 4 corner intersection about 1/4 mile west. throw watermelon flukes behind the pads and work them out. also throw your favorite topwater soft plastic as well. if that bite is slow/not on, keep heading west to the miami canal which is at the end of the center canal. go right (north) about a mile and start fishing with a giggy or your preference shakey head type jig with a black trick worm. you will catch fish. they might not be big, but you will catch fish. good luck.
  9. try this http://www.keelshield.com/51.html. i would guess the hardest part is just pulling the trigger and starting. it doesn't seem that difficult, but i have never done it so i don't know.
  10. i am currently teaching 5th grade and i love it. i am also getting certified in PE. the PE teacher at my school is retiring soon and my principal knows that i want her job. here is the problem though:http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/broward/fl-broward-school-specials-20100316,0,4926839.story they are actually considering cutting many of the special classes (art, music and pe) at the elementary level. i am glad i am certified in elementary ed, but i want to retire as an elementary pe teacher. only time will tell.
  11. i believe in cali it is law that all public bathrooms have butt gaskets. if i drop a deuce in a public can, i ALWAYS build a nest. i don't care what mythbusters say. for my own piece of mind, a birds nest is a must!
  12. AZ is the man for sure in the glades for pc. a friend of mine fished sawgrass today from 2 til 7 and whacked 'em. he brought his to nephews and they had a blast. wacky rigged aces, frogs, jigs. everything they threw caught fish.
  13. well said snook. a 30 day period is a joke. pay for each snakes head and they will see reults.
  14. born and raised, this has been the coldest winter i can remember. more cold days this year than ever before. it seems a front has passed through a day or two before every tournament i fished this year. i am sooooo over the cold weather. i have run out of warm clothes. bring back the 90 degree weather with 110% humidity.
  15. right on fellas! glad to see you left siders get'n some right side monsters.
  16. nice outing krzkev. is that lake private? maybe you could host a friendly tourny with the local BR guys. just a thought.
  17. show off! nice vid doug. what kind of camera did you use and where did you mount it? i have a flip and some decent footage of lox. i will see if i can figure it out on how to edit it.
  18. i use a 1/4 oz gambler ninja jig with a paca chunk as a trailer and i swim it. the fish will tell you how they want it. i really like swimming a jig through the pads in the glades. when that bite is on, lookout.
  19. i will never use it again. it lasted one outing before it was removed from my reel. too stiff, lots of memory. i even conditioned it before and during use. bps is the one i use now.
  20. all star big boy 7'2". at $99 you can't beat it. i also like the carrot stix.
  21. zoom trick gambler sweebo the only 2 i use.
  22. miami airport canals go off! they are loaded with largemouth, peacocks, snook and tarpon. there are also quite a few exotics in there as well. i don't know where your site is going to be, but ALL of the golf courses have fish. don't be afraid to fish canals along the roads either. they will surprise you. good luck.
  23. sawgrass is red hot right now with 50-100 fish not uncommon. however there are 2 tourny's this sunday out there. the park is still a flats thing. until the water drops, fishing will be tough. i am going to the park on sunday to estabish a decent pattern to help me qualify for king of the glades. i have to get into the classic.
  24. thanks gents. *** is the cheapest place to get them. my go to colors are california 420 and watermelon. i love 'em.
