fished a big fish tourny and caught a nice 7.22 pounder. some guy had a 8.4 and took first. second place and a couple hundred, not bad.

i did 2 things that improved my worm fishing tremendously. bigger worms. i never throw a worm <12 inches. slow down. i use a 3.8:1 curado and it forces me to slow down. you won't get as many bites, but the bites you get are usually better fish.

ive been playing for many years. as soon as i got my flats boat, golf became very mental for me. if i played golf and started playing poorly i would second guess my decision to play golf instead of going fishing. now i play once a month. i am a 12 handicap and fortunately for me there is a nice course on the beach that is cheap and great shape. if i can give you any advice it would be practice your short game. inside of 100 yards and your putting is key to good scores.

fished a drop shot rig yesterday for the first time and i cannot believe the fish i caught. can you drop shot artists steer me in the right direction as far as technique and terminal tackle goes. i was using 30# braid with a gama affset round bend hook with a slender sluggo above a simple 1/4 oz casting weight. i was casting along a tree line and i caught a couple of good ones. i know there has to be a better way and i would love to hear your styles. thanks in advance.

exactly! i only fish 12 inch worms and i use a gama 5/0. i also use a shimano curado with a gear ratio of 3.8:1. that reel makes me fish the worm super slow and i also use a 5/8 ounce tungsten. gambler has a new worm out that looks exactly like the delong. look out when the ledge bit is on.

x2. i also like the gambler giggy head. the only problem with the giggy head though is the hook is too thin. i also think your 20# braid (even with a leader) is overkill. just use mono or flouro. i also use a jig loop as my knot. it makes my trick worm dance a lot better.

i get that pain when i flip a weight that is an ounce or heavier. that is one of the reasons i don't flip as much as i should.

just get yourself a 7'6" (or longer) heavy rod, and a high speed reel 6.3:1 or higher. some guys prefer the best quality for their flipping setups. i have a bps 7'6" telescopic med hvy rod and a quantum accurist with 6.3:1 gear ratio. it is probably my cheapest (least expensive) set up that i have. i flip, but not as much as most guys do. i also use 65# power pro. that stuff is like rope and i have never broke off on a flipping fish.

see what the interest rate is after the first year. generally they are slightly higher than normal.
