Key West
spend the extra money and get a guide. bonefishing requires knowledge of flats and tides. unless you have done it before, a guide is the only way to go.

Is Ike a little over the top?
He is the OPPOSITE of the TRUE AMERICAN PROFESSIONAL angler. I do understand him. Having worked with troubled kids.. I understand very well. Everyone is emotional to some degree. Skeet, KVD, CLUNN...all of them are emotional. Some choose to contain it, to a point, and some dont. IKE's emotions show elements of violence. Demonstrations of domination over a smaller object/fish. Violent outbursts followed by him breaking equipment. Displays stabbing motions, barking, taunting.... I could go on but you all have seen it. WOW. take it easy there pavlov. you mean to tell me you wouldn't get chapped if your livewell broke and you were in contention of a professional tourny? you wouldn't be chapped if you lost a big fish in the BASSMASTER CLASSIC? some guys show their emotions differently. just because you work with troubled kids doesn't make you a psychologist. i have had many kids come through my classroom with those same emotions you described who turned out just fine.

Best Creature Bait????????
i absolutely love the space monkey. i swim them on top with amazing results. when the fromt legs get eaten off, i save the bottom half and use them to flip. clearly the best creature bait on the market. i was an ugly otter/sweet beaver guy, but the space monkey has taken over my wallet.

2 Koi carp in 1 weekend.
5poundbluegil, you are clearly the best koi/carp fisherman i know of. you should come down here to florida. there are so many exotics in our waters, you would lose your mind. do the people that live in that development mind you catching those koi? how did they get in there?

Valentine- a little round but man can she suck !
He didnt kill it actually. Believe it or not he caught that fish and went running home with it to weigh it. I think running with that big slippery fish would be a pain in the ***. After he weighed it he ran back to the lake revived the fish and released it in a small section of the lake that is separated from the main lake. i never said he killed it, i just stated that in some of the lakes in florida where they are stocked, it is illegal to remove them from that body of water.

Valentine- a little round but man can she suck !
hey 5poundbluegil, looks like you have some competition on the exotics. i know in florida, it is illegal to remove a carp from any of the body of waters they were placed in. i see carp in some of the canals down here that are easily 20 pounds. i refer to them as ghetto redfish, they fight just the same.

Help In The Florida Keys
bahia honda is my favorite park in the keys. some of the best big tarpon fishing in the world is right there. you will see some guides there fishing for tarpon. the road runner, jim bourbon, and many other guides will be there in the early morning and late afternoon. watch which span they are fishing, and when they leave, go to that span. there are permit, big jacks, big snapper and a whole plethera of other palagics that roam that area. if you go out back (in the gulf of mexico) you can catch snapper, grouper, and if you snorkel, lobsters. to the east is the old henry flagler bridge which holds fish as well. if the fishing is slow, buy yourself a barracuda rig which is basically a long flourecent tube looking bait with a treble hook at the end and you will catch all the cudas you want. be very careful in the bay between the new bridge and the old bridge, there are LOTS of HUGE bull sharks and hammerheads. have a great time and be sure to clean up after yourself if you are camping, because the park rangers are extremely nice, but extremely intolerant of tourist who litter and don't abide by the rules. that park is usually in the top 10 beaches in the world according to that dude Mr. Beach. if you have never been to bahia honda you are in for a real treat---it is beautiful. enjoy! ps if you can't get live bait, ask one of the tarpon guides and they may be willing to sell you a couple.

The 25lb Bass
there is a really good article on nationalgeographic.com (just type in largemouth bass in the search) about the 10 days the nat geo photog spent with jed, mac and mike during this hunt. dennis green the head coach of the vikings was involved as well. those cats spent 8 YEARS chasing 1 fish. my wife would have left me for sure.

Any snook & tarpon fisherman?
x2 i only fish the jupiter inlet when it is NOT snook season. i have a spot that i fish and i usually do very well on an outgoing tide. i usually catch between 20 and 40 snook between 5 and 10 #'s, with a good mixture of lady fish, jacks and tarpon. i live right near the el rio canal and have caught some snook and tarpon, but that place is very tidal. my favorite spot is in pompano, and like doug says---i will have to blindfold you and give you some memory loss medicine to ensure you never go back. LOL. when the tide is right, easily catch a dozen slobs that are WELL over the slot size.

Jumping fish in Broward County...
i was fishing the west side. i have fished the east side and caught both snook and tarpon. i have also caught tarpon on the west side. Question sirsnook---any truth to the reason that mullet jump is to rid themselves of parasites? not when they scatter from an attack but solo jumps.

Jumping fish in Broward County...
last week i fished the hillsboro canal and i saw soo many mullet jumping. they were huge! around 5 pounds. i saw schools of them swimming in packs of a dozen. i didn't see any tarpon, but know they are in there. i caught 2 big bass and left. that is a very dirty canal.

Everglades reports?
as of monday, the water at holiday is waaaaay up again (into the parking lot). there was a big fish tourny at sawgrass on sunday and it took an 8.4 pounder to win it. there have been a lot of small fish caught at sawgrass, mm41, holiday and lox. that is from last week though. there is a cold front coming tomorrow and it is supposed to get real cold, into the mid 40's. it will probably be good today and tomorrow before the front rolls in. hope this helps.

Key West Bass ?
there is a fresh water lake in big pine key and it is home to a couple of alligators, and i believe it is protected. i have never fished it, because if i am down there i am after salty critters or lobbys.

Boca Raton Library Lake on Spanish River Dr.
spot on. i have never done that well on the old course. go west young man--boca west that is. don't get caught because the guards are like park rangers with guns. there are some toads in there. i work with a lady whose mom lives in there, so i am on the guest list. good luck killa!

Boca Raton Library Lake on Spanish River Dr.
i have passed by it a bunch of times, and it does look fishy, but i don't think you have that much shorline to work with. there are so many other spots near there that i would hit first.

Peacocks and this cold weather
you will probably see some dead ones after this front rolls through. i recall a couple of years ago we had a series of really bad cold fronts and i saw a bunch of dead peacocks in northwestern broward county. i am not a biologist, but i am willing to bet that the peacocks that are down south (like southern broward and dade county) have adapted to the colder weather.
