Texas is making me real nervous with these close games against non ranked teams. I live in a household divided ,Wife and 1 son are big OU fans (he goes to OU). Myself and 2 sons are Texas fans .No need to say it gets real interesting around here when they play. T

My wife is great in as much as she hunts and fishes with me ,but after 2 or so trips the rifle/shotgun or the rod and reels she uses are automatically hers ? Go figure . Sure miss a bunch of good stuff . T

I tested the Vicious floro line today and here is what I have found. Testing was done with 12# test on an Alphas 103 F reel and a 6'6"M All Star rod. The line is very stiff and appears to have a larger diameter than other flurocarbon line I have used.The 12# felt like other floro's 14# line. The line did good for 3/8 oz spinnerbaits but did not cast as well as other brands 12#line , I expect the diameter had something to do with this. For worm fishing it did fine ,even tried it out in the rocks with a C/R . It appeared to have good overall abrasion reistance . I would not attempt to use this line on a spinning reel and would only suggest it for power fishing applications. I will continue to use my normal floro and use up the Vicious for TR worms etc... Hope this answers some questions. T

I just got some 8# and some 12# Vicious fluorocarbon, from the reports I have heard it was anywhere from terrible to very good.I am going fishing Thursday ,I will post results. T

Down size your baits.

For some reason the 4" kut tail worm is a killer on a drop shot rig ,I have used other kinds of worms at the same spot where I am catching fish with to no avail. Go Figure. Just my 2 cents.

Rapala crankbait line designed by David Fritts.Not only is it reasonably priced but it is tough line , I use 12# and have never lost a fish. I use a tricked out Curado 5:1 reel and a 7' glass rod.

You might want to check out the Smith/Action Optics sunglasses , these are becoming very popular with fisherman and have been well known for years with fly fisherman.

The shakey head techniqe was not intended to be used in cover as you describe , I would choose techniques more cover friendly.

I have one Gblank rod a 6'6" medium XF split handle , while it is definatley a well made rod and super light that casts well it is lacking in the sensitivity department. As I indicated I only have one of these rods and I understand that they make them with several different levels of blanks . Just my 2 cents worth.

I use Owner hooks on my traps , a #4 on the front and a #6 on the rear.

Hang tough , this is good advice heed it. You are young and unlike some of us older guys have not gone through the real hard times yet. This will only strengthen your resolve and you will grow wiser by this experience.

I use 8# P-line Flouroclear for dropshotting. Great line at a great price , it allows me to change line frequently or as needed.

No doubt the Hopkins spoons are good baits but i use jigging spoons quite a bit in the winter and from my experience they are not worth what you pay for them . I use the Cordell jigging spoons (almost the same as a Hopkins but close). I usually will lose 2 or 3 per trip and the Hopkins spoons are not as economical. Also change out the treble hooks to a #2 premium hook.

Chompers stand up jig head with a spider grub and add your own rattle. Does good for me.
