  1. I feel for you my friend , I was layed off 2 months ago and also have a family. I have not been unemployed in 20+ years and did not have a clue as to how to go about a new job search let alone having an updated resume . My friends kept telling me to not worry something better would come along and that every thing happens for a divine reason. After 6 agonizing weeks low and behold I had 2 job offers. I am happier now than before with my new job. The main thing to do as hard as it sounds is to keep your spirits up and keep on trying. God Bless ,Tony
  2. I have a pair of Shimano neoprene fishing gloves that keep my hands warm in the winter. They are very light and thin and do an excellent job of keeping your hands warm ,I actually forget I have them on after a while. They have the tips of the fingers with slots in them so you can expose your fingers to cast and then cover them back up. Best $15 I ever spent.
  3. Just wanted to say a big thanks to Lightninrod for his assistance in regaining my password through the administators. My e-mail from my old company was discontinued and I had no way to retrieve my password (guess I will write it down in the future) It is a testament to Lightinrod ( a true gentleman) He was persistant on helping a fellow member out (A true stand up guy). Thanks ,Tony
  4. I only subscribe to Bassmaster ,you may be suprised at what you learn by reading some of the tournament articles.
  5. I guess this would be considered "chaotic junk fishing" Hey I just made up a new name for a fishing technique! I usually start with the tried and true baits fished as they are supposed to be fished and if I don't get on a pattern in 3-4 hours you will find me slinging all kinds of baits around with reckless abandon until I figure something out or wear myself out.
  6. When in doubt set the hook.
  7. A back seat boater is what I refer to as a 1st mate ( the guy that does all the work) I am considered the captain of my boat and am in charge of navigation ,fishing areas and general order on the boat . (These are Navy rules) Once when I hit a small sand bar and bottomed out at lake Falcon I ordered my 1st mate (my Dad ,an ex Navy man) over the side to free the boat . He didnt't quite get it until I explained it to him and he did as I said and got in the water (Ankle deep) and got the boat free.If anyone gives me any lip service when on MY boat I explain the chain of command. AAHHH I Love being the captain of my boat !
  8. BASS rules does not allow netting the fish , in the FLW you can. Makes the BASS tour more interesting I think.
  9. Academy Super Sports sells it for less than $10 a gallon.
  10. Thanks for the reply guys ,my rod holder bungee's are about 5' long and feed through a hole in the side of the boat . To secure your rods you simply pull the cord with hook out of the hole , cover your rods and secure to the keeper mounted on the deck of the boat. I did find the bungee cord for like .30 a ft at REI (outdoor camping place) but still can't find the hooks the right size .
  11. Thanks Way , this helps !
  12. I have a Skeeter boat and am looking for the rod straps (bungee cord type ) and the hooks that go with them. A boat dealer wants $25 for 1 of these ,thats crazy. Does anyone know where I can find the parts to make my own ?
  13. The Outdoor channel.
  14. I always liked Swindle and still do but was disappointed in the way he behaved during the match , I wish he would address this publicly. I never cared much for Clausen but after the match I respect him more. I have a different opinon of them both after the match.
  15. That's right I can shut the power down on my Skeeter with no backwash, not so with the other boats I have owned.
  16. I like Kelly Jordan ,Greg Hackney and Edwin Evers.
  17. As a manager that hires on a regular basis I don't look at athletics but by what a person can bring to my company. In the fishing industry, speaking ability would be up there with fishing ability.
  18. What channel is TSC ?I never heard of it.
  19. I like the show as it is informitave , although I think fishing on the type of waters he does most of the time with the baits he uses gives a false impression to the younger anglers out there as they are thinking that they need to rush out and pick up the bait he is using. (his sponsers pay him to use those baits) I am not saying the baits he uses are no good but do we fish these on a regular basis ? IMO
  20. Most times I fish it slow ,color is over rated . Find the fish and you will catch them ,fine tune your color for more fish. Watching your line and sense of feel are the most important things and will come to you with experience. Remember when in doubt set the hook , yes you will make mistakes but this is the best way to learn. Good luck
  21. I've caught catfish on plastic worms and crankbaits
  22. As posted earlier the type of lake you are fishing has a lot to do with it. I have a lake 20 minutes from the house where I can fish with 25 mph wind because it is narrow and windy. I have another lake about an hour away and this lake is very difficult to fish with 15 mph wind. I will usually pack it up when I am on fish and I can't keep the trolling motor prop in the water.
  23. That's what I'm talkin about !
  24. Bassmasters only ,have been for 20+ years. You can learn a lot from it I know I did.
