If the rod has been stored inside, i would say its just fine. And i would use that rod for c rigs, dragging football heads. Even a jig rod. Its 7ft right? Kinda hard to see pic

*** *** rods. from tackle warehouse free shipping, the prices start at 99.99 and go up to 120. last year i had four looms gl2 rods, i thought they were very nice till i tried the *** rod. i sold every gl2 i owned and switched over to the *** *** rods i liked them that much. everything about it is better than the gl2 IMO. comparing the 7'1 gl2 to the 7'1 ***, the *** is noticibly lighter, no tip heavy like the gl2, has better tip action and a little more backbone, and the sensitivity blows the gl2 away. i find the handle more comfortable, but thats personal perferance. the gl2 rods should be a embarasement to the G loomis name. if you want that true Loomis experience, try a imx and up. the *** rod is very comparable to the imx, which is a nice rod.

you can find a lot nice rod for $100 than those gl2.

Hey guys, i think this is gonna be a good topic. so i just got a new humminbird 998 with S.I. and D.I. gps all the features. havnt used it yet, but cant wait to! in my local lakes, the smallies are all offshore (at least if you wanna catch a 4+). im tired of dock fishing and wanna get out on these points and humps. im thinking i should use the gps mapping to find the offshore structure, then go over it with side imaging trying to find any specific things the fish are relating to. then go from there. so my question is, is this the way you guys do it? this seems proficient but is there a faster, easier way? and any other tips on what to look for when looking at the side and down imaging and mapping? ive never had one before, im a quick learner though when it comes to this stuff thanks for any tips guys! David

hahaha i figured. i would fish it alot, just a LONG drive when i can fish tapps, sawyer and meridian which are all 20 min from my house!

+1 on the denatured alcohol, that stuff removes almost anything.

And for you reel over running on its self, just practice casting it ALOT and dont forget to adjust the spool tension knob each time you tie on a new bait. Look up Glenn's videos on the top.of this section about how to setup/ cast a casting reel. Its very helpful!!

If i were you, i would get this. Rod- *** *** black 7'1 or 7'3 MH Reel- lews speed spool tournament 7.1-1 Line- 17lb or 15lb of some nice fluorocarbon. That would put your total right around $275-300 and would be a awesome jig/worm setup for you.

Ya i have a crucial casting rod and its pretty dang sensitive. I would also save up and get the crucial. But if you only have $100 to spend, take a look at the *** *** black 7'1ML rod. It would be a lot better bang for your buck than the compre would.

I havnt bought a reel off there, but i did buy a tv and it was listed as new. And when i recieved it, it was perfect condition, looked as if i just picked it up from the local store myself. So i would say your good to go. If something is wrong with it, you should be able to return it for false advertisment..

your setup is good, i would recommend any braid, (i like spiderwire, but everyone is different) i like 20lb or 30lb and run that to eather a 12lb or 14lb 4ft leader of fluorocarbon. usean alberto knot to tie the fluoro to the braid. that will be your best setup and give you maximum sensitivity and hook setting power from the braid, but the invisibility and also good strength from the fluorocarbon leader. i really like sufix fluoorcarbon. id give it a try. many line companies have like 3-4 different fluorocarbon lines, well suffix has one GOOD fluorocarbon, unlike the others that have crappy cheep ones and good super expensive ones.

if i were you, i would run eather 15 or 20 lb braid, i dont spend a lot on my spinning braid, i normally use spiderwire stealth braid its like $13.95 at walmart. so fill your spool with whatever lb you perfer, than i would tie on a 3-4 ft fluorocarbon leader. it still gives you excellent sensitivity and hook setting power in deep water cause of the braid, but having the fluoro leader helps in not spooking fish as much especally since your using a spinning rod, which is normally finesse stuff anyways for those weary bass. hope that helps, thats my setup. 15lb braid to6lb fluoro for my dropshit only setup on a 7'1 medium light rod 20lb braid to 10lb fluoro for my shakey head, wacky rig, fluke, senko setups on a 7'1 medium rod.

idk if you got a rod or not yet, but take a look at the *** *** black, 7'1 medium. i own one and i actually prefer it over my powell endurance. for $100 its one excellent rod.

another easy way to get the line off if needed again, is to remove the side plate and take the spool out, it gives you a lot more room to work.

if i were you i would pick up a pack of beavers ( reaction innavations smallie beaver), match the hatch or just go green pumpkin, if your river has a rocky bottom, i would rig it on a 3/8 oz football head, try that out i bet you will get good results

Hey whats up guys, been browsing the forum for a while, finally decided to join, glad i did! been bass fishing for past 5 years. have a 17ft mod-v boat works good for some of these rough WA waters im a member on many other forms for my dirtbike, snowmobile, those sort of things, also a local bass fishing one.
