  1. Successfully released her right back at her bed. Had to walk back to the house a few docks down for some pics (didn't even have to step on a boat )Anybody keeping females off their beds deserves a kick in the teeth.
  2. First of all, congratulations @SuperFluke on the new addition to the family. My better half and I are working on buying a house and starting a family of our own. Got in a bit of fishing down at the family cabin on LOZ, and spent all of Saturday cleaning the tritoon for another summer of debauchery. Got down Thursday night, to my surprise the water was STILL gin clear and caught a bunch of dink largemouths and a bass sized slab walking the dog just under the surface with the Ned. First time I've fished it that way and it can walk it under the surface surprisingly well. Friday was awesome. Spotted a bedding male and female in the morning, caught the male pretty easily on a GP shaky worm but the female just wasn't interested. Proceeded to throw a wacky stiko, pit boss, and even a live minnow in front of her face and she wouldn't bite. Oh well. Got into some spots pretty well on the shaky and made for a fun afternoon. Came back in the early evening and wham! She figured she was ready to eat the shaky worm. Rounded off Friday night catching 10+ slabs from the dock, nothing under 12". Heaven.
  3. Lately Clinton's had the only hot crappie bite. Some big wipers being caught too.
  4. I'm relatively new to the senko game but I've done well lately wacky rigging.
  5. Curious to hear from anybody who's noticed any difference in action between the two. I'm well aware of the durability issues with hooking through vs. a weedless hook under an o-ring. Not concerned with tearing worms here, just the natural action of the stick worm.
  6. That's good, because they don't hesitate to give tickets out there! That lake's got some big wipers in it too, I landed my personal best from shore there last Spring. a 9# that wrapped me around a tree.
  7. I wanna say we boated 8 more smallies, all dinky compared to the one in that pic. Lost something big at the dam that shook a squarebill off, guessing either another big smallie or spawned out walleye. Two healthy wipers too, all shallow on square bills. Hallelujah, water above 60° with some stain!
  8. x2! Can't believe I had to scroll down so far to seem them mentioned! Wiggle warts FTW when dredging the bottom
  9. just make sure they're polarized. beyond that is personal preference.
  10. Didn't have to travel south to find a smallmouth bite yesterday. Caught this off the dam at Clinton Lake.
  11. Looks like it was a blast, it's awesome to see what you guys have put together. I'm hoping that come next year's get-together me and my buddy will be able to join in on the fun (and possibly compete). Love all the pics!
  12. Spent 24 hours with some family at 7mm, just south of the Gravois on LOZ and just got back. GP jig/pit chunk drew good bites shallow, no big females though. Oh and my buddy caught a 23" walleye on a squarebill at Clinton. Weird weekend.
  13. x2. Good lord are they loaded with salt and garlic.
  14. Anybody heard anything on the Hillsdale walleye situation? Me and a buddy are considering joining the hooligans for a night on the dam.
  15. taken by some local crappie guys using Garmin DownVu
  16. All of them. They require an additional Johnson County fishing permit. *fart noise*
  17. Hard to say after today. The only fish we were marking were pretty deep, but after after today's heat and wind they may have come up a bit.
  18. Just got back from Melvern without much to report other than tough fishing. 40°-42° water, bluebird sky, and a little wind from the north that completely died off after early morning. Managed one wiper on a PB&J ned rig. Probably could have dropshotted deep but we opted out for an early happy hour.
  19. Straight mono on topwater. Simple and most effective.
  20. lol I half expected there to be a dedicated thread to it. I plan on keeping it my little secret if I start getting back seated! thx for the feedback.
  21. I'll be fishing from my buddy's back seat on Melvern this weekend. It'll be the first time I've ever fished this lake, and he's not terribly experienced on it either. I smell a sitcom! Any suggestions you guys have would be greatly appreciated. The only things that have come to mind so far are jerkbaits and squarebills.
  22. Fished it 3/7-8, water temps were still mid 30s at 7mm and couldn't find a bite. It was also more than 6' under pool, the lowest drawdown I've seen there in a long time. That being said there are some jerkbait veterans down there that I'm sure know more than I do!
  23. Check this out when you do. http://www.upangler.com/docs/565HookSharpening.pdf It was helpful. My deal wasn't so much trying to file away a new cutting edge, but just removing the factory finish from the point with a few swipes.
  24. I don't disagree, but that point isn't here yet. I've just bought an expensive jerkbait that (allegedly) suspends perfectly with the hooks it's got on it. The moment I have to buy new hooks should be after I've fished it, not before.
