I Have A Condition...
I live in Greensboro, NC and the weather here has just been crappy. One day the suns out and it's getting hot.. the next day it's raining, snowing, or the temps drop too cold to fish; IT SUCKS! I've been fishing on the days where the weather allows... but I just can't help giving in... I have a tournament on Kentucky Lake April 1st... so i'm looking forward to that.. but until then.. The Bait Monkey just keeps hitting me hard.

I Have A Condition...
I just can't stop buying jigs and cranks... someone help me! I just ordered $70 worth of stuff at TW. Another $60 at Siebert Outdoors... and there's more... $60 at NorthStar Custom Baits... Plus I ordered a new rod... I'm sure I'll buy a reel here soon for the new rod too... Is there anyway to kill the Bait Monkey?

I Will Get Better With This Lure This Year...
I'm really looking forward to improving my crank bait fishing... I've only caught a small amount on them but I barely have confidence in them compared to plastics and jigs.

How Many Rods Do You Carry
I don't own a boat... yet! I have a 5 year plan for that after college... Co-Angler: 7 rods Bank: 1 rod P.S. those of who who carry more than 1-2 rods for bank fishing... who do you do it? I find it way too uncomfortable walking around with multiple rods + your tackle.

Bps Xps Extreme Trigger Rods
Hey fellas, I've done a couple of of searches and can't seem to really find any information on these rods. I have found several reviews on the Carbon Lites, but nothing on these bad boys. I really like the way the handles are shaped but that's from what I've seen online... they are on sale at BPS... I just ordered a 7'10" H XF to use for pitching, fishing deep jigs, and heavy swim baits... Any thoughts?

Jigs For Soft Bottomed Ponds?
Not that I know of. I get really aggregated fishing jigs in ponds that have a ton of leaves at the bottom. I usually do a fast upward jerk with the rod to hop the jig and get less gunk as opposed to dragging it along the bottom... But the fish don't always want it that way.

Siebert Outdoors... Does It Again...
Mike at Siebert Outdoors called me when he said he would... and I asked for a huge favor--if it was possible for him to rush finishing my order, and overnight it to me before my first Cabela's Collegiate Bass Fishing Series Open on Lake Chickamagua. Mike did just that... AND half my order was off by just a hair--he forgot to add the living rubber to my MATA jigs. I called him and explained the situation... he apologized, said he was send me the right jigs A.S.A.P. (for FREE!), and told me to keep the jigs he sent by mistake. The jigs will arrive tomorrow... I just want to thank Mike at Siebert Outdoors for his great service and craftsmanship. The only fish we weighted in the first day came from his jig.... The second day we crushed it and had the largest sack of the day (17.30lbs) and caught biggest fish (8.87lbs) in the tournament. Our college team placed 22nd out of 72 teams (139 boats). Thanks again Mike! Some pics from the weekend:

Pb & J Jig Trailer
I use Missile Baits Twin Turbo Purple Rain! Works great.. I was a little hesitant at first but I caught a nice 3 pounder the first day I used it. I also use Missile Baits B Bomb in Love Bug or Candy Grass with PBJ

Advice On Adding Another Spinning Setup
Thanks for your advice. Seems like that May be the anwer to my question

Advice On Adding Another Spinning Setup
Hey fellas, I won an AG Revo S spinning reel from the Cabela's Collegiate Bass Fishing Series Open this past weekend and I'm not sure what to do with it. I'm not too fond of spinning setups and prefer BCs. I already have a St. Croix Rage 6'8" MXF for shaky heads, dropshot, and worms (mostly senkos). I feel like that's about the only spinning setup I need... Do any of you guys have more than one spinning setup that aren't spinning fanatics? To be clear--I don't necessarily want advice from people that mostly use spinning reels, but rather from people than own both or prefer BCs; my apologies if that rubs anyone in the wrong way. I'm sponsored by St. Croix, so I will be buying a St. Croix regardless... but action, size, length, and what you use it for would be awesome. Thanks, Sam

Rubber Skirted Jigs
Mata Jig from Siebert outdoors is a great jig with silicone and rubber. Siebert Outdoors also started selling the Dredge series with pure rubber skirts.

Damiki Air Frogs & Craws
I have the air frogs but haven't had the chance to test out either. I bought Owner 6/0 unweighted beast hooks for the frogs. I also have the knockout and really like it. I have used it as a jig trailer but haven't had any takers yet. I will say that for the price I probably won't buy anymore unless they really produce for me... they are pretty expensive for how soft the plastic is. They tear pretty dang easy.

7 Foot Or Slightly Longer Spinning Rod For Worms.
I'm glad you already know what I'm talking about! A medium would be great--much more enjoyable.

7 Foot Or Slightly Longer Spinning Rod For Worms.
All I know is that I've had a 7'MHF spinning rod for worms and plastics and it sucked. I was fishing my worms weightless and and sometimes with a 3/16 or 1/4 weight and the rod just wouldn't load up. It sucked.

To Use Swivels Or Not To Use Swivels? That Is The Question
I use Bill Norman Speed Clips on my crank bait rods, just because I only have 2 crank bait rods and switch out lures a lot. I don't like wasting time retying knots.

Vmc Vs. Trokar Flipping Hooks
I compared it to the rest of my Trokar hooks---it's not bent in anymore than the ones I haven't used. I will give the Mustad ones a try! Thanks for that.

Vmc Vs. Trokar Flipping Hooks
Hey guys, Just wondering what your opinions and thoughts are on these hook sizes. I know that there isn't a general standard for power and action in the rod industry; every companies taper, action, power is always a little different. I always thought that there was a standard in hooks though? Seems like the VMC is a little longer. On my first day of fishing the VMC hook, the bait keeper broke... hoping that was just a fluke and that it's not a reoccurring issue. I would stick with the Trokar ones, but they are so expensive... I ordered 4 15 packs of trokar hooks from TW when they were having a sale, but TW says they won't have any in stock to send me until May Therefore, I can't justify buying more Trokar hooks when they are double the price of the VMC hooks. Here are a couple of pictures: Left: Trokar Right: VMC Top: Trokar Bottom: VMC Left: VMC Right: Trokar Front: VMC Back: Trokar Left: Trokar Right: VMC VMC broken hook keeper:

Transition Baits/lures
Jerkbaits is what everyone is telling me to throw--personally I have never caught a fish on one. I like to throw jigs and square bill CBs when the water starts to warm up. My choice of jig is a brush or arky head, 1/2oz.

Siebert Jigs!!
Siebert Outdoors makes great jigs. I caught my first jig fish with his arky head and since then 99.99% of my jigs come from Mike.
