  1. id say here in indiana 6 pounds is braggin rights, but 7 and up is huge
  2. I would have to say that Geist is almost impossible to bank fish for bass. I think your best places in indianapolis would be some private ponds, neigborhood ponds, or some golf courses. I have played golf a couple of times this year at riverside golf course and seen some giants in there.
  3. anybody want this money, boat, and truck. Yeah right
  4. Good stuff man, it's nice to see your goals and priorities are both solid and realistic. Keep up your fishing success as well as everything else. I think your main objective now will be to see how well you will respond to not being successfull and rebound from a bad tournament, game, (ext.). Not every tourny will be as easy as your previous one's, but with your faith first and priorities in line, I wish you great success in the future and good fishing. Good start.
  5. Man what a small world, I have buddies that are exactly the same way and it drives me crazy at times. I personally love trying new baits, presentations, and things all the time just to keep getting better and be more versitile, but I have one buddy for instance that will throw the same da#% white spinnerbait every single day under any condition. I know that there are lures of confidence and baits that I know I could go out and catch fish with every time, but I like to change it up a bit and challenge myself. I guess we should just be thankful that we have buddies that we can fish with and hopefully they will figure it out.
  6. We have some ponds that we fish with buzzbaits at night. It is some of the best action in the world and sometimes these explosions will scare the heck out of you. I alos like black spinnerbaits.
  7. I would charge him $5.00 a fish until he figured it out or paid you for your time. That would probobly do the trick.
  8. I too am from indianapolis and I had two buddies go out with me one afternoon that were from out of town. My buddies both got tickets and I felt really bad because they never go fishing. The funny thing was that the C.O. went to the same high school and college as all of us and he still wrote them up. One of my friends actually plays for the Dallas Cowboys and he was in town for just the weekend. This C.O. knew him and still gave him the ticket. I guess they can be brutal here in Indy.
  9. I have used both tiki's and senko's and have caught fish on both. I do however think that the tiki's fall a bit faster and are not as soft as the senkos, but the main difference is that I think the sinko's are more soft and fish are more opt to hold on to the lure for a short time longer. As I said earlier, both will get you bites, but I am sticking with the sinko for confidence reasons.
  10. me and one of my buddies fight about this all the time. I personally like being closer to the bank, say 15-20 ft. unless im pitching or flipping, and then I'm closer. Anyway, He always says I'll scare the fish, but to me someone launching a spinnerbait 20 ft. in the air and crashing it down in the water will spook them too. I like a soft presnetation into the water with my lures and it is easier for us at a shorter distance.
  11. no, you can catch bass year round. Get out there because the bite can be very productive right now. You might have to slow down your presentation a bit if the water is chilly, but trust me they will bite.
  12. thats a great fish, I would say that fish would go around 9 pounds maybee more. Did you get any measurements? Man you gotta love them good ol' farm ponds.
  13. I cant stop laughing about my dad's hooksets and how every fish he hooks, he acts like it's an absolute hawg. We went out this weekend and had a great time catching a few fish, but I noticed that my dad was getting flustered when I kept catching fish after fish. Well long story short, my dad finally hooked a bass and when he set the hook he shook the rod, gave a grunt and said "here we go boys". I though it was a giant the way he was reacting, but it only turned out to be a dink. He did this another time during the day but I have been giving him heck all week about it. I wish you guys could have seen this, it was hilarious. p.s. I sure feel lucky to have such a cool pop.
  14. very well said senko77, confidence is the key
  15. I would grab the biggest chartreuse spinnerbait you have and slow roll it. The conditions here in Indiana have been fairly high muddy water for the past few weeks and that is what has been working for me. I'd give that a shot and when you find um, start using the jig super slow.
