New Baitcast Rod
Sorry I never tried one. Abu Garcia makes dependable rods for a reasonable price. Vendetta2 under 100 bucks. I personally do not have one but a buddy of mine has a few of them and thinks I'm crazy for spending what I do on rods. My advice is get the best rod you can afford and from whoever has the best warranty! By the way, great choice going with Less!

Top 3 Midday Summer Lures/rigs?
Depending on how the fish should be feeding is how I start deciding what size jig. If it's summer time and they are chasing I'll use a small plastic grub and a fast sinking jig. Cold water sluggish bass I use a bulky plastic to slow down the sink rate. Football jigs when dragging on the bottom, swim jigs working over grass or just under the surface and punching/grass jigs when in thick veg mats. If the water is clear and bite is slow, I down size everything. Add far as the brand, there is no loyalty here, I just want to sink the hook, so wide gap heavy hooks in grass and light wire for a finesse bite. I do fish non skirted jigs with just about any plastic grub, worm, swim bait, jerk bait or creature bait made. It took me years to grab a jig over tx rig, but don't be a dummy like me! Tx rig has its place but to me a jig is much more versatile. More specific to your question, 3/8s green pumpkin football jig with a small black twin tailed grub will catch a baas anywhere.

Favorite Species Besides Bass
Big speckled trout would be my next to bass.

My Best Fishing Partner
Mine would be my 13 year old dog. She never complains, enjoys my singing and is always ready to get on the water. I haven't been taking her when it's hot now she's old but early morning and late evening trips she'll be in the boat.

What Is A Nice Fish?
Nice one? I like the head shaking, drag pulling, line stressing, rod breaking hook bending mean ones! But I still get excited when they are green, have scales and a mouth!

Lost Lures
I probably have 150 jigs but there is one that has always been a special big bass buster for me. I dug it out of my dad box as a teenager and have dove for it on more than one occasion! It's been resharpened dozens of times and I have looked at every jig on the market and still don't know the maker of the old jig. It's been hung up under docks, in brush piles, tree tops and wedged between rocks but I've always managed to get it back! Maybe one day I'll lose it forever but I'll never forget some of the fish it's hooked.

Top 3 Midday Summer Lures/rigs?
I live and die with my jigs.. All year every season. On a hot summer day punch a jig through the vegetation a have some heavy gear to haul that bucket mouth out!

Help With Jigs
Try useing a jig in all situations. When you think a spinerbait bite is on use a 1/4 oz jig instead. When you see that nice lay down that a square bill crank looks promising, work a jig in the same type retrieve. Once you prove to yourself that a bass will eat it, you will have confidence that will translate to more bites in the deep water..

Power Pro?
I use the 50# on my frog rig. I think it's the jigging line because every foot is a different color. I've used it a couple years and haven't had any problems.

Fishing In The Rain
I love the rain but hate the lightning. I got stuck in a bad storm on Toledo Bend and it felt like the bolts were chasing my boat! The fish were biting good but not good enough to die for.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
I managed to get some quality fishing in this weekend thru Wednesday and found the bite was on until Sunday evening. Monday and Tuesday were slow and when they started dumping water I couldn't get a bite. I'm sure they were biting but when the conditions changed I couldn't find them. That's why I'm no pro! I did have fun hauling in 3 bass that will make the picture album biggest at 5.5 lbs and had a sure enough toad jump and shake my hook loose. I was so sick I couldn't hardly untangle my line! Anyway there are fish to be caught out on six mile point and a Biggin that's a little wiser but worth trying for. I found small baits to work best and be alert for soft finicky bites. Good luck and be safe! God Bless America

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
The few times Ive night fished when it wasn't A big moon I had trouble tying knots, untangling lures and anything else I needed to see. My boat just doesn't have much lighting. However I recently obtained a nice lithium lantern that should help with that issue.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Hey fellas I was able to fish this weekend mostly in Indian Creek. I did fairly well on soft plastics mostly sinkos but found the top water bite was on until late in the morning. I was unable to land any big bass but my dad lost one we figured was around 5lbs.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
I talked to her last night and she thinks she could get into that but wanted me to rig her up an umbrella to help with the summer heat. I have one that came with patio furniture that we never use so I should be able to mount it somehow to the back pedestal pole. Thanks for the advise guys. She doesn't complain but I can see when she's had enough, just want to keep her happy so it never becomes a problem.

So Yall Want To Learn Toledo Bend?
Thats not a bad idea.. We did paddle board on our honey moon and she seemed to enjoy it. And there is lots of beautiful sights on Toledo to capture on camera. I'll plant the seed and see if it grows. Thanks
