All Star Rods
Maybe a redfish bait rod. I've been looking at the team series.

Lead Vs Brass Vs Steel
What's best for transmitting the feel of the bottom? Also can I just paint some olive green to blend in with my worms? Remember tungsten is off limits. It's just to exspensive.

Snapping Turtles As Cover??
I've had snappers bite the tails off mid-sized bass. I imagine that they just eat the small one's.

What To Throw 10" + Worms On?
I like something around a 6'6 medium heavy with a fast tip. I always fish mine weighted just because I never thought about weightless. I use an abu rod so it may be a little closer to a heavy action. It works best for casting at least 3/8, but those zoom old monsters are pretty heavy, so you can can use a 3/16 bullet weight and cast just fine.

All Star Rods
They're academy exclusives now.

All Star Rods
What are y'all s experience with them? I love them, but I've only used a couple saltwater rods. Are the bass rods any good for budget rods?

Scents Turning Off Fish?
Yeah, I just wanted to make sure. Jerkbaits are the reaction strike, so scent probably wouldn't make a difference. The scents just work like a rattle and help the fish narrow down on your crawling worm.

Bank Or Boat
I like fishing from a boat but fishing from the bank i can get to some better spots. I'm primarily a bank fishermen but I get out on a bass boat through my church's bass club. The way I see it largemouth are always in the shallows. While some go deep, there will always be some in the shallows because that's where the food is. I caught my personal best which is only 4.5 in a spot where you can't get to by boat. Just because it was only 2 foot of water, lots of stumps, and TONS of hydrilla. But, in the boat you can get to more spots faster. It also depends on what rigs you like to fish. In the spots that I fish, you won't ever see me fishing a carolina rig or something like that from the bank. I mainly limit myself to Texas rigs, shallow running crankbaits, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, topwaters, and dropshots. Maybe some wacky rigging depending on what structure is around. I may prefer to fish from a boat, but I would still target shallows 80% of the time. I would check out one of those bass raiders, because there are some really big fish in ponds. Man, I've been saving my money to get one and I'm only 13. Probably easier for a 17 year old to get money than a 13 year old.

Scents Turning Off Fish?
Can JJ' s turn fish off. I have found that watermelon super flukes with chartreuse tails to be my go to panic bait, but I don't want the scent to make them not work.

Scents Turning Off Fish?
Ok I think I see. Maybe I should just carry two spray on scents. Like I should have one that's natural like shad, and another that's unnatural like garlic. This way I could have the best of both worlds, and if one doesn't work I could try the other or no scent.

Scents Turning Off Fish?
Yeah, I just found it on TW so I'll get some. I used some that a guy in my bass club had. Way better than spike it.
-
Scents Turning Off Fish?
I use gamefish spike it on the tails of my super flukes. I only use spike it because I can't find jj's around here.

Scents Turning Off Fish?
I haven't really ever used scents besides refreshing powerbait with the powerbait scent. We'll I have quite a few havoc baits with a fairly strong chemical scent and I also have a bottle of the powerbait scent. I just want to know if there's any way scent would turn off the fish before I hit the havoc' s and zoom' s up with the powerbait. I have always had pretty good luck with powerbait, but never used the scent on anything else.

Favorite Fishing Line And Knot?
Copolymer - Pline Voltage Braid - Power Pro Mono - Trilene XT Fluorocarbon - I don't use fluorocarbon My favorite knot is the polomar knot. It's the easiest and fastest knot that I can tie. If I'm tying on something like a crank bait or any line over 20 pounds it's the improved clinch knot.

What Technique For This Rod?
The amazing sensitivity was the first thing I noticed when I picked it up. I do agree that it's a little heavy but no that heavy. It's probably because your' s is two grades heavier. It feels sort of like a medium heavy that's slightly lighter than it's rating. The sensitivity really made me like it for senkos because I find that it's really easy to gut hook a fish on a senko. I will check it out as a topwater/jerkbait rod, but I hardly ever fish jerkbaits unless soft plastic jerkbaits count.

Abu Garcia Revo Rocket And Veracity
I don't think that it would have enough torque for me. I only go up to a 7.1:1 really.
-
Abu Garcia Revo Rocket And Veracity
These are the two new additions to Abu's line. The veracity is the new rod with a 38 ton blank. The rocket is the new addition to the revo line up with a freaking 9.0:1 ratio. I personally can't see any use for a ratio this high except for a buzzbait set up, but we will see how it performs when it comes out. They are also really sexy.

What Technique For This Rod?
It's a casting. I really like the way it feels for weightless T-rigged senkos but not weighted Texas rigs. Probably because I fish the weightless more around light cover like boat docks and the weighted in heavy cover like grass and brush so I want the power of a medium heavy.

Ugly Stick And Shakespeare Synergy 10
Look at the pflueger echelon spinning combo at sportsman' s warehouse. Cost $50. It's what I use for weightless plastics and finesse style presentations now that I've learned a baitcaster. Before I could use a baitcaster, it was all that I used. I've had mine for about 3 years now and it's held up great. I fish at least 2 times a week, so it see' s alot of use. You wouldn't know that it has been used if not for the paint that has chipped off the reel from where I've dropped it. It comes with a nice IM6 rod which is pretty sensitive. It's a 2 piece, but this is good since you're fishing on a pier and have to travel. http://www.sportsmanswarehouse.com/sportsmans/Pflueger-Echelon-Spinning-Combo/productDetail/Spinning-Combos/prod99990134290/cat101052

What Technique For This Rod?
I snagged a brand new quest fishing rod for $25. It's a 6'6 medium action fast rod. It has 9 guides plus the tip. Rated for 8-17 and 1/4-3/4. I believe it was a good deal, it's an IM8 blank with a Fuji reel grip and guides. What would you use this for?
-
Abu Garcia Vigilante?
Held it at Wal-Mart Saturday and couldn't stand the full Eva grip. I think it's the same blank as the vengeance, but with less quality guides and reel seat. I would go with the vengeance for a little more.

Micro Or Standard Guides?
Sorry for the late response. Thanks, it looks like either micros or semi micros are the way to go.
-
Micro Or Standard Guides?
Ok. I'm to scared to fish braid on a casting reel. I just don't want to get a real bad backlash and loose $20 in line. I heard a lot about micro guides being screwed up on rods and that's why I came here. Sure am glad I did. Looks like micros are the way to go.
