The two techniques are rod specific. I hate it when manufacturers label a rod as a 'pitch/flip'. I suppose you could pitch with a 7'6+ rod if you were over 7' tall.

There are some good ponds on or near campus. Two behind the new convocation center (one of which has given up at least one 7+ over the last couple of years). Beast and I used to fish those quite often until we caught hell from campus police last spring for putting our jon in. Beast has connections with the chief, got us a note so we could put the boat in, just haven't been back. We used to slay them at night in the upper pond.
