Insurance cost?

St Croix vs. ??
Going to break down and buy a couple of St Croix rods. Never handled or used them, so I'm going in blind. I'm used to Fenwick and Shimano rods. I have a 7' Fenwick Venture MH casting rod, the thing is a board. Very stiff tip. Have a 6'6 ML Venture spinning rod with a very fast tip. I guess my question is, are St Croix's ratings accurate? Just how fast is the fast action? Thinking about a PC66MHF and a PS66MF.

Insurance cost?
Found out today that TN requires boaters to have proof of insurance. Planned on fishing a few TN lakes this summer, so I guess I'll have to get some insurance on the boat. How much does $100 000 of liability usually cost? Going to visit my agent on Tuesday for a quote, but I'd like to have a ballpark before I go in.

NFL playoffs
Colts D looked great today. O was so-so, but they did enough to win. Saints/Iggles both looking decent now. Saints O is playing better with the Iggles O only having one big play for a TD. I'm hoping the Saints win since I hate the Iggles. As for tomorrow's games, I like Seattle and New England.

palomar vrs clinch..
I used the clinch and improved clinch for years. Had a few knot failures. Started using the palomar last year and have yet to have it break. Straightened a few Gamakatsu 3/0 EWG worm hooks while using 12 lb. Vanish after hanging on submerged rocks.

Finesse Worms for Smallies
Zoom finesse worm. If I go through less than a package in one trip, I figure I would have been better off staying home.

my complaint about the spro bronze eye frog
What is the tip action on the rod? I have a Fenwick Venture 7' MH (closer to H IMO) that has a very slow tip. The SPRO Bronzeye barely loads the tip. Then again, I mostly use it for throwing big (2-3 oz.) swimbaits, so I get plenty of load on the rod tip.

They're hittin everything- what would you throw?
I would use something that I don't have much confidence using. Catching fish on a particular bait instills confidence. Therefore I would use a crankbait. I like fishing them, but I can't catch a cold (at least in a lake) on a crankbait.

does line have and expiration date?
Store in a cool, dry, dark area and it will last for a long time. Let it get hot and let the sunlight get on it and it won't be good for very long. I'm going to start storing my bulk spools using my FoodSaver. I also do that with my blackpowder between hunting seasons.

Heeeees BAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!!
Having to sit on your rear when you could be out fishing or hunting is tough. I've had to deal with entirely too much of that over the last year and a half. Now I see what that guy was talking about in reference to my sunglasses. ;D

Gauging pedestal size?
Getting tired of either sitting or standing on the bow of the boat. I want to lean. BPS has two lengths on their pedestals. I measured from the bottom of my butt to the floor and it is right at 31". Longest pedestal mount that BPS has is 29.5". I assume that would be enough height since I'm only 5'9 and there are plenty of people out there who are taller than me and they don't seem to have any trouble finding a pedestal mount. So am I correct in assuming this?

single canoe trailer
That isn't a bad price for an aluminum trailer. Considering the thing only weighs 95 lbs., you'll never even know it is behind (which can be a bad thing ). I had thought about building a similar trailer out of steel until I sold my old jon and started using the Shorelandr for the Old Town.

what do you tow and with what???
Tow vehicle is a 2000 Chevy Blazer ZR2 with auto trans. Towing either a 16' Glasstream with a 65 hp Suzuki (I figure around 2000 lbs. total) or a Old Town Discovery 169 canoe on a Shorelandr trailer (550 lbs.).

Favorite brand of baitcaster?
I drink from the fountain of Shimano, although I have a TDA that I really like.

Brown's Point Marine Service
I remember reading a post you made about parting that motor out and did some checking. Not much matches up between the DT65 and 75. Most of what I need are just odds and ends like a water pump impeller & gaskets, spark plugs, fuel filter, service manual, etc. Thanks for the feedback, hopefully I too will get good service from them.

Please define primary vs. secondary points.

Ever been skunked?
I was skunked four times last year (March-October) out of around 55 trips. Some days I had to resort to meal worms for bluegill, but I always caught something.

Is flourocarbon good on spinning gear?
I would use no more than 10 lb. test flouro on spinning tackle. I tried 12 lb. Vanish on a spinning reel last summer and the results were quite frustrating. Like fishing with a slinky. I am going to use 6 lb. Vanish on my UL trout rig this spring to see how well it works. I am getting tired of using 4 lb. test mono.

Bass Boat 911 emergency assistance needed
Stratos has a killer entry level boat on the market right now. They're advertising it opposite of the Tracker 175 TX (or whatever it is called now).

Anybody tow with a 4 banger
1. If you do have OD, do not use it. 2. Consider the brake system on the car. Can it handle an additional 750 lb. of weight? 3. Change your trans fluid and engine oil regularly. Can it be done? Of course. I know a guy who regularly fishes a local lake. He has a 16' V-bottom with a 40 hp. OB. He pulls it with a Taurus. While traveling some rather mountainous terrain.

Brown's Point Marine Service
Anyone ever dealt with this company? Need to do some preventative maintenance on my DT65 and they seem to be the only game in town when it comes to Suzuki parts (at least online).

First of 07
Huh? Cheapo Strike King glasses from Wal Mart. I'm hard on them, so I just buy a pair of them every year.

Daiwa spinning reels
One reason I'd like to fish Daiwa spinning reels is that I fished a Daiwa WE1355 exclusively for about 15 years. Only reel I used in that time period (other than a couple of small UL's). I liked the Daiwa design. I like the three Shimano spinners that I have, but I'd like to have a good Daiwa or two. Have to go to BPS to handle them as none of the local tackle shops have any Daiwa spinners, only Shimano and Pfleuger.
