Daiwa spinning reels
I wish wish wish that Daiwa would spend some time designing a nice $80 spinning reel instead of sticking that that clunky SS Tournament. They've got nice $$$$ reels, but all of their $$ reels are not much. Shimano has the Spirex at $60, then the Symmetre at $80, etc. Both are nice reels. I'd like to fish a couple of Daiwa spinning reels, but they just have nothing for me.

Thinking of a new rod? You better take a look...
60% of Martin's show is spent touting sunscreen, Ray Scott's pond videos, Leverage spinnerbaits (which I wish I could find), ABU Garcia, Aqua-Vu, Lowrance and Yamamoto. But I still DVR every episode. For every 5 bad shows, there is one good one.

First of 07
Can't take credit for that. My friend shot it on his 20D. At least I caught bigger fish than he did. 8-)

First of 07
Caught in a small golf course pond in east TN today on a 5" green pumpkin Senko. First fish I've ever caught on one of those infernal things. 23", est. around 3-3.5 lbs.

aquaveiw
I've wanted one of those since they first showed up in the catalogs. Not enough room on the boat for all the gadgets I want. :'(

Stealing your name?
I thought I had heard it all. ;D

Have you got your 07' fishing license yet ?
I really like the way VA changed our licenses to run a year from the date of purchase. Now if only TN would do that (wanted to fish TN last year after I got my boat, didn't want to spend $40 on a license that I would only use two or three times). I'm looking at $17 state resident $17 state resident trout $3 national forest stamp $12 local reservoir license $41 TN non-resident license $90 + the $51 for the VA hunting licenses. Costs me a good little bit every year for the 'priviledge' of hunting and fishing.

What is your favorite Beer!!
Are you sure its not Guiness Draught and not stout? ive never seen the stout on tap but its possible... Guinness is a stout. The Guinness Extra Stout (North American market) is brewed in Canada. The Guinness Draught is brewed in St James Gate and imported. And as for my favorite beer, there are but two answers Guinness Newcastle Miller Lite in a pinch. And if I'm in the area, Olde Hickory Brewing Company (Hickory NC).

Charging Batteries on the road?
The charge from the alternator works just fine with camper batteries. I charge mine that way when I'm in deer camp, my dad does the same with the two battery setup in his travel trailer.

Charging Batteries on the road?
It is a little secret that the pros have. What they do is invest in about 60 mice. They have an immense charging system set up under the boat decks. The mice sleep during the day and charge at night.

citgo
I've given quite a bit of thought to this subject over the last week or so. I hope that BASS and Citgo are ending their relationship. I just wonder who BASS will get to replace that sponsorship?
-
How well will this do?
Very very well. I speak from experience (well, with a 12' jon).

Fish or sleep?
What a hard life I have. Got up at 12:30 yesterday after sleeping about 8 or 9 hours. Piddled around the house for most of the day. Came into work at 7, plugged in the boat battery charger. I'm sleepy, but I'm dying to fish. Had a good evening on the water Wed. and I want to go back and continue my hot streak on that lake. Why must I make such difficult decisions? :-/ ;D

Battery charger
Schumacher SpeedCharge smartcharger. 2/8/12, settings for regular, deep cycle, and AGM. Automatically shuts off when battery is charged and will maintain that charge when necessary.

Just got back with my boat,Questions
We could, but since mine is for sale (and supposed to have a guy coming to look at it sometime this week), the team wouldn't last long. Hey, I'm still low budget though. ;D

Launching a boat out of the back of a truck
Whatever you do, don't get lazy and back the truck in the water. Saw a full-size Nissan p/u do that this spring at a local lake. He back it in until the about half the bed rails were under water. He also backed off the end of the ramp and almost flooded his cab. The way I always did it with my 12' jon was to load the bow in the front (lighter, easier to lift up to the tailgate alone). Slide it in, put a ratchet tie-down along the stern to hold it in. Load all of my gear (except battery) into the boat. I would put the battery in the cab (easier to do that than load/unload it from the boat 2 or 3 times while launching. Off hand, I would say my 12' weighs around 200-250 lbs. It wasn't the easiest thing to unload alone, but I managed several times. Didn't hurt any that I was using a long-bed pickup. If you were so inclined, you could even rig up a winch system to put in one of the stake pockets and lift the boat up into the bed with that. There are a lot of options. The main thing is to not hurt yourself.

Bad luck partner?
I told him yesterday that if he didn't catch something then, he was going to be banned from my boat. ;D But since I didn't catch anything either, I gave him a reprieve.

Just got back with my boat,Questions
Everything you need to know about registering a watercraft in Arizona. http://www.gf.state.az.us/outdoor_recreation/watercraft_registration.shtml It seems you will need to complete this before being able to register the boat. http://www.gf.state.az.us/pdfs/outdoor_recreation/letter_of_gift.pdf (Requires Adobe Reader) Here is the form needed for registration. http://www.gf.state.az.us/pdfs/outdoor_recreation/application_of_certification.pdf

Bad luck partner?
I have this one friend who fishes with me a lot. Even more so this summer because he's been on strike. Since he doesn't have a lot to do, I've been asking him to go out with me every couple of weeks. So far, we've been out four times on the boat this summer and once in the canoe (four of us on that trip, both of our wives went along). Over those five trips, he has caught a total of 7 fish (6 bluegill on one trip, 1 smallie on the canoe trip). I haven't done a lot better, catching around 20 or 25. None of the lake fish being exceptional. Take the one lake we've fished the most this year for example. I can go up there alone and catch 7 or 8 fish over 3 or 4 hours. I take him up there, we fish for 7 hours, I catch 5 small bass and he doesn't even get a bite. We go up there again, I have him fish the dropshot along the banks. He gets quite a few bites, but isn't very good at hooksets and doesn't catch a thing. He's only fished rivers with Rooster Tails and whatnot until this year. I've been trying to teach him plastics, but he's got that 'feel a tiny tic, set the hook like you're trying to penetrate the jawbone of a whale' syndrome. Yesterday we hit a lake that neither of us have ever seen. Supposed to have great populations of bass, crappie, and musky. We fished for four hours, got 3-4 bites each, then a hellacious wind picked up and we had to leave. I'm going to take him to my 'can't miss' lake next time. I've only gone up there once this year and failed to catch a fish. I'm going to get him on some fish if it kills me. He's killing my mojo!

Just got back with my boat,Questions
It is a 2 stroke. It will push that little boat at a good clip. http://www.marineengine.com/manuals/chrysler_outboards/ Look there for manuals and whatnot. As for parts, you're pretty much out of luck. I have an old 6 HP Chrysler that belonged to my grandfather. Tried to find parts for it, nothing. As for the boat, has it been registered before? If so, (and if NV titles their small watercraft) did you get the title and/or registration?
