1/8 oz in line spinners, like Mepps, that have fur/feathers in the treble hook. I also catch them with small Rapalas that look, well, like Yellow Perch. They're a trip to catch. For example:

I own an Ascend 128T and a FeelFree Lure 11.5. Both have great seats and are very stable. I'd give the stability nod to the Lure because it sits a little lower in the water. The 128T's seat swivels, which is an advantage when anchored. The Lure is lighter than the 128T. I can hoist it onto my truck's ladder racks easily, even at the end of a day fishing. The 128T isn't too heavy to lift, but lacks handles in the middle. I just give it a bear hug and lever it up via the back rack. After owning both since April '14, I'm selling my 128T and buying a 2nd Lure. My wife likes that one better - she can nap sitting up while floating around the ponds we venture. No matter what, try to test paddle as many as you can to get a feel for them. Even if they're from other members who might be willing to meet you and fish.

Got my first Smallies yesterday, though I wasn't home in MA. Had to burn some expiring time-share points so I hopped up to Stoneham ME for a quick in and out. There were a ton of waters to choose, and I picked Horseshoe Pond. It was medium sized and away from the heavy end-of-summer traffic. It paid off. I had the place to myself, less a few other recreational kayakers and a Grandfather with his Grandchildren. Caught 2 Smallies. One on a 5" Senko and the bigger one on a jointed Yellow-Perch Rapala. I also caught a pile of Yellow Perch, some no bigger than the Rapala or Mepps I threw. They're a trippie little fish for sure. I'm back in MA and decided September should be a good month to work only one job and fish some new waters in MA. Lastly, I have to thin out the herd of rods & reels a little bit. I'd rather sell locally if possible. I'm selling PQs, a host of casting rods, and my 128T. If you're interested, PM me and I'll give you a list of what I'm putting up for adoption. Edit: Anyone, or administrators, know why my attached photos of late are sideways? They show correctly in Finder and iPhoto. I use a MBP running OSX 10.8. It's only the last couple times I've attached photos to posts. I don't update my OS or other APPS.

I fish from Ascend's 128T and FeelFree's Lure 11.5. Both are very stable. The 128T is looks like an aircraft carrier, and acts like one. The Lure sits lower in the water and is 36" wide. I fished standing for roughly 6 hours on the Lure at Horseshoe Pond, ME, without a hitch. Like other members already said: it takes practice to get comfortable standing. It did for me. My two cents. T-Rigged curly tailed worm, usually a pumpkin/green with colored flake. I'm pretty brand indifferent. My second choice is a T-Rigged 4" Senko similarly colored to above.

I have a *** *** 6'10" ML/F, Diawa Tatula 7' ML/R (reaction), and a BPS ML/F 7' Crankin' stick. I mounted my Core 50Mg and *** on all three and wouldn't go any lighter. All three rods throw baits down to 3/16 pretty well but don't have much backbone for hook setting. Of the three, the *** is the lightest, the Crankin' Stick the whippiest, and the Tatula 'feels' the best (just a couple grams heavier than the ***). Good luck with your ML rod.

Well said. I own neither .45 or 9mm. In warmer weather I carry a S&W J-Frame .357 or SIG .380. In colder weather I carry a SIG .40 SW. or N-Frame .357. Of the three I prefer .357 only because I grew up shooting revolvers, and they'll never jam.

Try Lake Nippenicket. Head south on 24, get off @ 104 West and you'll find the boat ramp on your right.

Pflueger.... I own Presidents', Supremes, and Supreme XTs. Their sizes range from 20's to 30's. They're all great reels, but to pick one it'd be a 25 size Supreme XT . To me, it's the rod it's paired with that makes it a favorite.

I bought a Lure 11.5 in April '14 because I paddled it before I bought it. Ialso own an Ascend 128T and Native Redfish 10 kayaks and like/use the Lure the most. I can't help you with a trolling motor, but I can say the it's a great fishing kayak. It's weight is reasonable. I can hoist it on my pickup's ladder rack unassisted at the end of a day fishing. It's plenty steady for stand up casting (which I did for 4 hours this morning.) Storage is good. I used a scupper hole for my Lowrance's transponder. The seat is ALL DAY comfortable. Also, the wheel in the keel aids transporting short distances from my truck to the water. Like other members already mentioned, try to test paddle as many kayaks as you can before jumping in. Each mfg. has their strong points. Read forums and paddle.... and follow your gut, when you buy. Best of luck with your kayak.

Took a quick trip to Killington to burn off expiring time-share points. Fished Kent Pond in Killington, because it was close to the condo, around supper time yesterday. Scouted the pond out until dark and managed a couple small bass. One poor fella tried swallowing a 4" Senko, hook and all... I couldn't get it out. I feel bad when I gut hook fish . Returned at dawn, fishing until just after noon when I had to get back home. Caught a pile of little bass, yellow perch, and what I think were pumpkinseeds in the morning on just about anything I threw at them (3" Senko, in-line spinner, perch flavored suspending Rapala, AND Live Target MOUSE.). It was amusing to see a dozen Pumkins follow the little Senko from 10', hand around it and drift back down. Once the sun got high the action slowed to nothing. Kent pond ranges from a 3-4' with lots of grass & reed beds to 18' and a generally flat bottom (out by the dam/road). There are a few points and lots of trees & stumps, especially by the island in the middle. An old-timer who was there when I was packing up said there are BIG trout there... I sure didn't see any. Then again, Grampa Casey always said, "Believe none of what you hear, and only half of what you see..." I hoped to bag a smallie, or a BIG Larry, but I'll take the pile of little fish and not being at work for 24 hours any day... I'm heading to Stoneham, ME for another 24 hour 'fishing frenzie' at the end of August. At the moment I'm targeting Horseshoe Pond, and/or the GIANT reservoir/lake East of it (name unknown), depending on access. Let's see if I can catch a PB.

X2 on the contacting Abu about getting a replacement. Last Summer I caught a Veritas in my tailgate and broke it. The nice folks at Abu sold me the exact one at their cost, or there-about. Sure beat shelling out another hundred bucks. Best of luck with it...

Looking forward to it. It's only a quick in/out trip, but I've had only a few days off this whole Summer, so it's well deserved.

Finished both jobs and the girls were out so what's the best thing to do when you've got a couple hours to yourself. GO FISHING. I stopped by BHR on the way home, started with a black/blue chatter bait. Got nothing but backlashes from my normally backlash-proof T3. I ditched the chatter bait and stripped off a length of line and tied on a 5" watermelon slice Senko, wacky rigged. I left my patience in the truck so I shelved the Senko for a 7 1/2" T-rigged chili pepper Culprit worm. The Culprit produced a 2+/- pound bass in just a few casts. This fish was ticked enough to take some line off my reel, to my suprise. I then caught a pound/pound + 1/2 bass on the very next cast. That's twice this year the Culprit worked on consecutive casts.... go figure. What really blew my mind was the size of the bass that followed #2 to the shore, something I've NEVER seen before, and sure don't know why. I'm a kayaker, so it's smaller bodies of water for me. I have a few 'cartop' only ponds/reservoirs near me which I like best because of light traffic.
