Hit Ponkie for a bit this morning. Got three dink picks, a LMB a shade under a pound, a 2_10 pick, and a couple of misses. One pick chomped a perch Senko and everyone else a bass colored square bill. It was cold in the morning but warmed up nicely by lunch with bright sunshine and a light breeze. Clouds rolled in gradually. Water temps were 48.x - 49.x. Soon enough .... well .... NO NOT SOON ENOUGH!

Dropped into Ponkie around 10:00 this morning hoping for some big LMB on square bills like I did last year...... didn’t quite work out that way Even though water temps were 48 degress, the best I could muster were two picks, each just over a pound. The first chomped a perch Senko and the second on a bass colored square bill. The wind picked up significantly by early afternoon, so I packed up, went home, and took my M/C for a ride....

Congrats to a good start... It’s gonna be a good season, methinks!

I fished Snake Pond in Sandwich for a couple hours and Hedges for an hour OTW home from the Cape this morning. Snake coughed up a 3-4 LMB in 8’ of water along the northern shore on a green tube. I struck out at Hedges. Water temps were 45.x and 46.x, respectively. It was overcast and very windy. My five pound anchor was useless. I hoped for more the last three days, but I’ll take quality any day.

Fishing Rhino and I met at Wequaquet this morning and fished until about 1:00 p.m. It was in the high 30’s to low 40’s with a STIFF wind from the S/SW. Water temps were 44.x - 45.x. I bagged a nice 3-10 LMB on a black/orange Rapala Shadow Rap Shad deep in 6-8’ of water just after a point & island way down, SE from the launch. After lunch at Sam Diegos, Tom headed home and I went to Flax to see if I could get out of the wind and find some smallie. I found a nice rainbow while hand reeling a Ned rig back to the kayak, caused by a giant line twist ball ?. And because of my spinning reel blow up I learned that my 7’ M/F Kistler MG2 with a Concept Z on it casts Ned rigs like a dream. Water temps at Flax were 45.x - 46.x and nearly as windy as Wequaquet. I’m headed home tomorrow and am stopping somewhere in the morning in search of some smallies.

Today was my first of three days fishing Harwich/Brewster. I fished Hinckley’s from 1000 - 1500, Sheep from 1530 - 1630, and Buck Pond from 1700 - 1830. Water temps were 45.x - 46.x, 42.x, and 45.x respectively. It was in the low 40’s, with little wind, and almost bluebird like. Got four clam shells and a stick out of Hinckleys. Other than that, not so much as a nibble the whole day. Fishing Rihino and I are giving Wequaquot a go tomorrow AM.

I've had three already.... Though the 14 SMB day I had last week more than made up for it! It'll be great over the next month for sure.

I believe 2nd generation Concepts and the newer Inceptions are. I have a Concept Z which has a spring and retainer. It was a 1st generation *** that lost its side plate that doesn't have a retainer. I lost a Concept A side plate a couple years ago. I suppose mine weren't the only ones lost if *** changed their design... On another note, I drove by Cushing Pond in Holbrook this morning (?) and was surprised to see it was still iced over. It's a little spit of a pond off Chestnut street.

Fishing Rhino and I fished Devol pond in Westport for a few hours this morning. Tom bagged five Larries, one over 5 pounds. I grabbed one, just over 2 pounds. All fish had good bellies on them. Water temps were 44.x. It was partly sunny with mixed wind.

I like it enough that I have two. I bought my first one in 2015 and an Overdrive model in 2018. The seat is all-day comfortable, it’s stand up stable, and the integrated wheel makes for easy transport. The Overdrive gets me about 4 mph pedaling normally and is removable for fishing shallow, weedy waters. Sans the seat & Overdrive, I can lift it onto my Tundra’s ladder rack myself.

Well, the feed bag is on now. I launched at Hedges around 10:30 and left at 4:00 PM. I threw four baits: a purple/brown tube, orange/brown Senko, bluegill chatter bait, and yellow perch flavored jointed Rapala. Each bait worked, especially the tube. All in all I got 14 SMB, ranging from 1-1 to 1-15, in the kayak and missed 3. Most of them took the tube off the bottom in about 8’ of water, near where it drops to 15-16’. Water temps were 44.x and BP was 30.4, with mixed clouds/sun. It’s finally on. Go get’m!

I had an iPhone 6s and used a Lifeproof Nuud case. At the time, Lifeproof made an orange lifejacket the case fit into. I upgraded to an Xr and it fits the lifejacket without a case. They’re tough to find now, but I’ve seen knock-offs on the ‘interweb’

I fished ‘the Nip’ once in my kayak. At the time the right side of the island was so shallow I had to raise my trolling motor and walk my kayak through the most shallow section to avoid grounding it. I could see a Jon boat, but anything bigger, I’d be careful.
