  1. What about using braid? I encountered some schooling activity over the weekend (best day EVER), and was basically waiting around every 15 to 20 minutes for the bass to surface again. Id throw a fluke past them but i kept thinking FC would be a better option? Everytime i wanted the fluke to sink a few feet under the surface the braid would immediately bring it back up.
  2. Small finesse worms, 4-6", I use a 1/0 Roboworm Rebarb hook or a 1/0 to 2/0 offset round bend worm hook by Owner.
  3. My biggest advice is to go fishing. Get on the water and put what you have read into experience. I came to a point where I felt like there wasn't much else reading was going to do for me. I had to get the experience for myself and learn my strengths as an angler. I must say though, the hundreds of articles and post I read, definitely helped give me some general knowledge! As far as magazines, I get FLW, BASS, and Bass Angler magazines. Really though, that's just something for me to read at work when I have down time. Everything is on the Internet. Good luck!
  4. I started using them a around May of this year. If i cant get a bite i put one on a 1/16th GFinessse jighead, wacky rigged. Almost always works! I dont much care about durability as long as a bait will catch a couple fish.
  5. I have used both. The Hydra definately tears faster.
  6. I have fell in love with my Abu Garcia SX30. You can get one for around $130. Its very smooth and I have had no ptoblems out of it. Its a little cheaper than the stradic too!
  7. Ok so I don't exactly know where to start, but I feel like I made a bad choice today. I won a Revo Rocket a week ago, along with 65lb braid. I needed a rod, so I go to the store and wanted the Veracity 7'3 heavy action (I really wanted a 7' H), but they only had a 7'MHF. It felt good in the store, but when I got it home and put a 1/2 oz jig on it, it just didn't feel right. I was going to use it for pitching swim jigs, jigs and texas rigged plastics. Is the MH too soft for the 65lb braid? I guess I either need confirmation this is a good setup for those or not.
  8. Hey guys I'm heading to Douglas Lake on Thursday. I have read a little bit about it, but I want some tips and info. If anyone has some I would be thankful!
  9. I own 4 Revo Sx's. for me and my income they are beyond great. I wouldn't get the slowest gear ratio. You get a big one hooked and starts swimming towards you, you are gonna have to reel like a mad man to catch up. There's better reels made for that slower ratio.
  10. One time I noticed the knot was still at the end of the line after breaking off.
  11. I have 10lb PP. I almost always use a Palomar and have absolutely no problems like this what so ever. I tried a uni and did the same. As far as the hook set, nothing crazy lol just my same old hook set.
  12. Neither of those in the water I fish. Just a pond. I always check my guides but ill check again.
  13. Year old braid. Hardly used. I go fishing today and all of a sudden I'm breaking off on the hook set?? Weird because I've never had this problem. Checked line and everything. Suggestions please!
  14. I have cracked a lot of them. Mostly the bills bust after a few hours of hard fishing. I just buy more. I tend to catch a few fish before they crack though!!
  15. They are fished on top. Cast out and start reeling right when it hits the water so the bait lifts back to the top of the water. For me, once I get the the bait on plane, a slower chugging retrieve works best most of the time. Good luck!
  16. I use the Gamakatsu G finesse series wacky jighead. They are great and most of the time fishing shallow I use a 1/16oz weight. The Zappu Inchi wacky hooks are good too!
  17. I store my 3700 boxes in an old gym bag. Then pick my plastics for the day and put each category into a soft plastic binder. I think a Plano guide series bag would be a good purchase, but their kind of expensive.
  18. There is a misconception that you have to run 30 minutes down lake to catch bass. Lol I do believe sometimes that may win, but you can stay within a couple miles of the ramp and catch some good fish. If it looks good enough for the bass they will stay. Me and a buddy of mine usually stay within a couple miles of some boat ramps. We know which tournaments are at what ramp and on what day and we use that to our advantage. Now for when will they bite after being released? I have no clue but we don't seem to have a problem catching them!
  19. Square bill
  20. No I use a weight most of the time. I do put them on owner shakyheads some
  21. Does it matter whether I use ewg or straight shank or offset worm? I was under they assumption that for shorter distance use the straight shank and then ewg for longer casts.
