  1. KVD 1.5, LC RC 1.5, and I'm really liking the Jackall Aska I got over the winter.
  2. My papaw would take me fishing when I was around 4-5, and I had an older friend when I was around 10 that would take me fishing for bass in the creeks and ponds. He taught me the basics back then, but I have definitely learned almost everything from here or other sources online. I have a lot of respect for the older anglers who had to learn the old fashioned way.
  3. Get you a 7 ft medium heavy rod. That will cover just about everything. Reels these days are all pretty good, so just pick something you like. if you go to your local tackle shop, they will be happy to help you. Then start reading all of the articles on the page, use the search tool at the top, and go through all old topics! Don't get overwhelmed with all of your choices with lures. You can catch bass on just about anything. I'm sure someone will come through and list the, all for you! Good luck and welcome!
  4. A roman made negotiator. I have some pre rap wiggle warts that aren't cheap, but my limit is 10 bones.
  5. I just got one too, but mine was a replacement for a broken rod and it cost me $15. I'll NEVER use it lol
  6. My favorite would be my Dobyns Extreme rod and probably the Alphas SV. I really like the Plano 3700 guide series bag I bought too. It's everything I needed as a coangler. As far as baits I'd probably say Lucky Craft Rick Clunn 1.5s...although I haven't got a chance to use them much, I like everything about them. Oh and Boca Bearing OS7 bearings are another great purchase. Now that I think about it, I can't narrow it down to just one! Lol
  7. Along time ago I used to think these members only said Siebert jigs because they are a sponsor. After 2 year I finally bought some and now I know that its not about that. Another vote for all of their jigs. My main thing is the Owner hooks used in his jigs. Another good jig is Dirty JIgs, but quite expensive.
  8. I tried last year with no success. I'm hoping to try again to find someone to fish with while down on family vacation. I don't care if we go wade a creek. I can pitch in on gas and food and have a good day fishing. Let me know, thanks!
  9. Can't speak on the earlier Alphas, but the SV is a for sure. You can get them for less than $200 any day. I put some bocas in and I love it. Great casting abilities!
  10. Can't go wrong with regular Power Pro in 30-50lb. It just depends how heavy the cover and bass are. I usually try to keep my knot out of the reel and before the first guide. I always tie a longer leader so that I don't have to retie that knot over and over. Alberto knot forsure, keeps the flouro protected.
  11. Haha yes, I have been fooled by carp before...But I am 100% positive these were not carp. I was able to see the detail pretty well one a couple of the ones 'rolling' or whatever they were doing. I'll have to look for the night time thread. I haven't been keeping up lately.
  12. I've caught a lot of 4-6lb fish between those times too, but I've caught them other times too!
  13. Well I don't buy into all the talk about catching big bass around noon. And for this lake its dang near impossible when the sun is high. This is a very clear lake, and is known to be brutally tough come summer time. I wonder if I do go there at night, what is the best option you think? I just bought a Roman Made Negotiator (for this lake), or do I throw a big worm? There's a lot of grass to get caught on so really a Texas rig or something that rides high in the water column is the only way.
  14. i didn't think of that just because the only other time I've seen bass doing that was when they were spawning. Do you think that is a normal thing for them to do? I wonder if I scared them away or the sun was just getting higher and they left for deeper water or something.
  15. So I went to the lake this morning after work to throw a new glide bait I just got. This is a small very clear lake that is a little over 800 acres I do believe. I was just walking around the bank and by the marina when I noticed a bunch of old spawning beds in the grass. Places where there was no grass. I just happened to see a HUGE shadow go by the bare area. I first thought this was maybe a big carp, catfish, or Muskie. I wasn't sure, but it was a giant. It started kinda rolling sideways and that's when I noticed it was a bass. Within the next 10 minutes I seen 7 giants (my opinion for this area) ranging from rough 6 or 7 lbs to I think over 10 was the biggest. The lakes around here spawned in mid April to mid May. I haven't seen any spawning activity in 3 weeks or so. So what were these fish doing? Late spawners? Roaming? They wouldn't pay any attention to any lure and they finally swam off...sorry I made it so long!
  16. I remember Tom (WRB) commenting on this at one point. id go after the one wih no claws too lol I'm no dummy, I've been pinched...they hurt!
  17. Yeah you know it's bad when senkos don't work!
  18. Yes Daiwa will send you one. More than likely free of charge! Call them.
  19. I've lost all confidence in myself this year lol so therefore I have no new confidence baits. It's been a tough year for me.
  20. Uptons worms stand straight up. Thanks to Tom for always talking about them.
  21. Some type of bread. Dog food lasts a little longer. find a small creek bend or a small hole in the creek and drop it in. Go back the next day and it should have plenty to fish with. I had a lot of good memories using minnow traps as a kid.

Venom makes an excellent tube that is thin and super soft. I like cabin creek really well, and also dry creek.
  23. A plain ole tube always works
  24. I am a little late posting a picture of the new reel, but it did finally arrive a couple weeks ago! I must say, I am pretty impressed with this little reel. The handle is a little loose and makes some noise, however that is my only complaint.
  25. Another vote for The J-Will heads.
