What's is your favorite squarebill crankbait

KVD 2.5 with Upgraded mustad hooks. Close second is the Xcalibur x75.

Koppers Live target Bluegill squarebill and KVD 2.5

Baker Lures suspending squarebills. 

 

Dont read the reviews on it as a bunch of mismanufactured ones got out there. They forgot to put the rattles in it so it floated like a cork. Their shallow suspending shads are amazing too.

2nd bandits are lighter than kvds but on my home lake they outcatch them

Bandits and uh, Bandits. Always have had luck with them, lots of colors, priced right.

Lucky Craft Rick Clunn 1.5 / 2.5 - the best crank I have ever thrown. No comparison between them and the Luck E Strike RC2, IMO.

I have 3 favorite crankbaits that always seem to catch fish.

1st XCalibur XCS 200

2nd KVD 1.5

3rd Luck E Strike RC2 mostly because I have not yet gotten the chance to try the Lucky craft ones. 

Missed out on the a OG Rick Clunns, but the new RC2 I like so far.

Have some of the Tak. LC and some new LC BDS I'm anxious to try.

I use the KVD's in both 1.5 and 2.5, and the rapala dt-3 flat.

My favorite by far is the river2sea biggie square bill, followed by the megabass fx knuckle 60

I have always had luck with Bandits.

KVDs get used a lot here, but the two above are my favs. KVDs are ok but the hooks typically suck and they usually need some serious tuning

Bagley B series baits when I need a high floating bait around wood cover and shallow weeds.

Lucky Craft BDS 3 when I am banging rocks and around docks and burning through hard cover.

Lucky Craft RTO in tree tops

KJ Flat in the river, along with Bagley Bs.

LC SKT Fat Mini for a couple situations.

KVD 1.5 and 2.5 for heavy grass and weeds.

KVD 1.0 for pre-spawn shallow work.

Bandit Square for general post spawn shallow cranking in a variety of situations.

 

 

There's no one "Does it all" squarebill.  Regardless of what the pros tell you, every single one of them that I know will have at least three of the above listed baits in their box.

I'm one of them, I won't cast a KVD before I change the hooks. Even with a.glass rod and mono, the hooks will still bend and or break.

I don't own all of those lures, but some of them and you are exactly right. There is no one do it all bait. Some are better than others in different settings.

Great discription of what you like each of them for. It kinda opened my eyes a little more.

Based on what I have here in my local lakes and my style of fishing is how I've come to the spro (great all round bait) and the Bagleys great around wood and brush cover! Nothing beats a good old woodbait.

Have you tried the Killer B? When the water rises on Kerr Lake ill fish those shore/brush lines with the slightly deeper Killer B and get the same results as I do with the 3 footer

I like the SK KVD's in all three sizes most of the time. I also use the SK series 1 and 4s in some situations, they seem to come throught wood better than the KVD's and they also rattle, so when the water gets murked up with an alge bloom here I often go to those. I agree with everyone on the stock hooks, as hooks get changed on all of them to the Mustad Elite KVD 1x strong, 2x short, triple grips, I don't find I need to tune them any more or less than  any other brands, some need it out of the box, some don't, some need it after a while , some don't.
