Always! If I need a trailer hook I cut the plastic real short and put it ON the trailer hook.

Why would that mean anything? I've caught a 25.2 and a 26# carp on 4# ultra light before. 20# line gone to crap would certainly land a 30# fish. The lines that were on the market 14 years ago have improved so much by now that I don't know why anyone would still be using the old stock. Its not that expensive to replace your line stock every 5 years.

A better knife will be a better knife, but you can certainly sharpen the one you have to make it work. You should only need to sharpen it once per 100 fish or so. Hone it with a ceramic or diamond steel after every couple fish. If you want to buy a good one, leech lake knives are the best on the market. If you want an electric, I suggest american angler with shark blades. If you get an electric, you will still need a fixed blade to take the Y bones out of the pike.

Yes, I use them sometimes and like them! You have to get the correct size though. Too small and they will bend up on a good fish, too big and they will get tangled and effect the action. A good all-around size is #1, but its too light to be used with anything around wood or snags. You want duo-lock for sure.

For throwing t-rigs I like 30# braid. Keep a semi-tight line at all times though.

I have used that same line for 5 years and can only think of two times when it dug in like you have experienced. One was when I hooked into a 25# carp, the other is when I hooked into a 20# flathead. I have no idea why yours is doing that.

What brand are you using? Some are terrible about that!

In the fall when we get a lot of rain and the rivers/creeks flood there are a lot of carp that go into the fields to eat the scrap grain. Not many bass. In the springtime during the floods the bass go for cover, not wide open fields. They head for trees, picnic tables, etc. Flipping is the best way to get them, knock a jig or big t-rig on their heads.

When I cannot hook it again and no amount of mend-it or super glue will hold it together. Usually lose it long before then.

T-rigs are 1/16-3/8 for me. 1/8 and 1/4 are used at least 75% of the time.

Depth, Cover, Wind, and Mood of the fish. For deep water, heavy cover, heavy wind, active fish.. 1/2oz+ For shallow water, no heavy cover, light wind, sluggish to active fish, 3/8oz.

Exactly what I do! I keep a $1.25 bic in my pocket at all times! If tying on a lure that I know will be on for a while and not fishing around anything that would fray my line, I will also add a drop of super glue to the knot. Swimbaits is a good example.

Where do you think BPS is going to make that money back when they give him a new rod? It all gets evaluated at the end of the season and item costs are raised if needed. Nothing is free, and nobody should pay for someone else's mistake. This generation (my generation) wants everything handed to them, and if something goes wrong then someone else should pay for it. At times I am embarrassed to be part of this generation. (this was not directed at the OP) You can take it in and be honest about it with them and see what they do, no harm in that! Honest man usually wins.

I tried fireline once, and ripped it off after one day. Terrible line. Broke like it was 4#, not uniform shape at all, and very rough. I've been a fan of power pro for years, this year I am trying sufix 832 and spiderwire stealth along side of the PP.

So you got snagged, paddled into the brush and your rod caught on the brush and broke? Doesn't sound like BPS's fault to me. That's right in line with breaking it in a car door.

Either a heavy for bigger jigs, big c-rigs, frogs etc, or a medium for smaller spinnerbaits, weightless rigs, sekos, topwater, etc. 2 of 2 powers is better than 2 of 1 power IMO.

If it broke on a hook-set I'm sure BPS would take it back. You could also email Abu and they will fix you up. Not an uncommon occurrence with that rod. But when you get a good one, they are great.

22" 8lb fish? Wowser! My last 22.5 weighed 4.25.
