how are the brakes on the orra? im used to my adjustable on the black max.

I think I am going to go with an abu orra that I found on sale. now how about the spinning rod question? im thinking MH vengeance or shimano sellus. does anyone have any experience with these?

its 6.4:1, same as the blackmax I have and fits the majority of my fishing needs

Revo S is more than I want to spend, main reason im even considering an orra is because the outgoing models are dirt cheap at the moment. thanks for the input though 3/16oz is the lightest lure I have but those are spinnerbaits so likely closer to 1/4oz realistically. I have found an orra for silvermax money so I may just go with the orra this time. thanks

Does anyone have any experience with the Abu Garcia Orra SX? found a good price on the outgoing model. How do they perform? How do they compare as far as casting light lures? my next choice would be a silvermax.

They seem like wonderful rods but just a but more than I want to spend. As far as the silvermax how does that compare to the black in your opinion?

I am looking at some new rod and reel setups and have a few different questions. 1.) I have had a 6'9" MH Abu Garcia Vengeance in my garage that has never been fished but am looking to change that. I love Abu Garcia reels and have a black max on the setup I use the most. So I was looking at that or a silver max to put on the vengeance. I like the idea of the flipping switch on the silver max, but would like to hear so real world feedback from people that have used them. How does it compare to the black max? how is the flipping switch feature? durability? is it worth the extra $10? 2.) I have an old shimano spinning reel that I have used forever and still get plenty of use out of it. I was thinking about finding a new rod to place that on. This will primarily be used for drop shots, shakey heads, small spinnerbaits, etc. I was thinking about a rod in the neighborhood of 6'6"-7" either medium or medium heavy. What rods/brands would yall recommend? I would like to stay in the $40-60 range. Any feedback is greatly appreciated

Im looking to restock my supply of beaver type baits. I recently had success with the reaction innovations kinky beaver Okeechobee craw, but they are kinda pricey. Im trying to find the best looking beaver bait that I can get most in a pack with. Most of these baits seem to come in a 5-7 pack for around $5. Does anyone know of any other beaver style baits that come in larger quantities?

What used to be one of my favorite ponds to fish, one that I pulled 3lbers out of in the dead of winter, has not been productive this summer. My first trip out there this summer I noticed a very unnatural blue/blue-green color to the water. I was told by a buddy it was an additive to control and kill the algae. It seems to have stayed a very similar color for most of the summer. Could this have caused the fish population to decrease?

What size do you use?

Anyone done any fishing in the New River Valley region of VA recently?

I have towed everything I've ever needed to tow with my '99 F150, 2v 5.4l V8, 4x4, 3.73 LS diff. I absolutely love my truck, I am a ford man through and through. So IMO, pick whatever vehicle you like the best, with the powertrain combo that will suit your needs, if it is strictly a tow rig, and get it or this is gonna turn into a huge "my truck is better than yours" battle.

Green pumpkin trick worm, and a green/chartreuse spinnerbait have been my best out there. Hit the trick worm texas rigged draggin it over a log, and the I was just slow rolling the spinnerbait. My buddy got em pretty good on a white/chartreuse spinnerbait as well just slow rolling.

I never thought about that, but come to think of it I have noticed more and trash and things out of place at this particular pond. Very unfortunate. There are some big fish in this pond, and if they don't care for the land then they will not likely care for the fish.

Haven't read to see who a lot of people are choosing, but I would say either Jeff Kreit or Shaw Grigsby. Followed closely by Bill Dance and KVD.
