  1. Humminbird has a couple which run up to $200. I'd suggest the rod mount cause the others are a pain to carry around bank fishing.
  2. You need confidence in order to be patient and work that lure the proper way I see lots of people who dont have "confidence" in a bait and dont work it right or in the right place or at the right time. Whats right? What gives you the best probability.. nothings agiven but you want the best odds or better odds. Confidence is based on judgement and not everyones judgement is that good.. thats the difference between good and ok and bad fishermen. Some guys get confidence in a lure just cause they tossed it and it nails 5 fish in a row when that lure was picked by chance perhaps and there happened to be a school of fish there hittin that bait. Well if the fisherman didnt understand what really is goin on, that confidence is false and next time in different conditions, his results wont be so good.. time to find another"confidence" lure.. KVD got confidence too.. except his confidence is based on his years of experience and understanding whats going on with the fish, locations, etc and seeing how that improves his odds.. the man oozes understanding about what to use how to work it and when.. hes got "confidence" lures for given situations.
  3. Im in NJ.. there were storms that violent today? I was out this morning after our storm yesterday in pea soup muddy conditions and got 3 fish over 3 lbs in about 2 hrs of work.
  4. Makes me abit mad everytime I see guys taking out of season fish and without a license. Stuffing fish in plastic shopping bag esp makes me irked.. those fish aint surviving and no way is getting released .. out of season.. illegal... selfish.
  5. Phoenix M1 Swimbait rod TW memorial day sale should be able to take one cheap
  6. Ever try night fishin there? Those guys must be poundin the bank cause there are good fish in there.. betcha the bigger better fish thatve survived the onslaughts are feedin at night.
  7. I wish they would invade my lake They dont seem to stand a chance against LMB in small lakes Years ago in my fav small lake there were smallmouths and now they are nowhere to be seen Alls I ever catch now are LMB and a few spots and even they are getting rare.
  8. post spawn is the best time imo I usually catch the most bigger fish then before they head deep down or deep in cover for the summer they are likely hanging out near the spawn beds edging towards points or dropoffs
  9. A 4 pounder is not big?
  10. If you do it by hand like I do, then grab the treble with pliers with one hand use the other hand and grab its mouth where the hook is not. Do yer thing When I first started I didnt like having hooks completely thru my thumb and hands at times.. a bit painful to get out and with tetinitus and all not really needin the problems. I alway grab the trebles with pliers to make sure those dont get me if the fish decides to seizure.
  11. Well buy the white belly one then if yer worried. If the paint comes off they wont see it anyway. The only problem I have with the KVD frog is it has a rattle inside and I dont like that it may interfere with hookups. The plastic could be softer but then it wouldnt be as durable.. Its a good frog overall.
  12. c-rig is the way to go
  13. Pitch a few Sk rodents in there here and there.. topwater frogs. Drop shot the weed edges if you can reach them from the bank.
  14. I only use the black and blue when Im using the chatterbait in deeper or muddy waters.. I've not gotten bit b4 on the black and blue. I put a green skirt on mine and put a craw on it.. caught me a couple of prespawners this year. I use Zman and SK and SK doesnt hang up as much but I like the larger hooks on my Zman.
  15. Man I just tried using mono on my cranks today and I aint doin it no more. Cant feel a thing on it anymore.. spoiled
  16. Dude, tungsten is denser and heavier per unit volume.. smaller weights needed.. I use it to balance my rods too. Also better for the environment.
  17. Frogs
  18. You can burn a spinnerbait faster usually without a trailer but I always put one on and customize my spinnerbaits Bought a clearance batch of bomber spinnerbaits from Wallyworld last year and have a lifetimes supply for spinnerbaits and parts now.
  19. Spoons are so old school.. the only time I would consider it is jiggin deep and I hate fishin deep
  20. Yea I agree I am gonna put the wardens number on my quickdial.. if he didnt have a license and was fishin but put the fish back I really dont care its up to the wardens.. but if he take fish out of season (esp. spawn season) then theres a problem If everyone took fish out of season without limits, we'd be out of fish to catch
  21. Bank fishin this mornin.. Saw a guy caught a bass and he threw it in a plastic shoppin bag. It was tossin around in the bag for the longest time. It didnt even look that big and its not even bass season yet. Didnt have a license visibly on him.. should I have called the ranger?
  22. 19" 4lb lmb central NJ couple days ago
  23. If its heavy enuf, use it as leader.. else.. storage I use 25lb Seaguar leader
