  1. I believe the veritas now retail for 79.99. And with the upcoming spring classic at BPS you can get a carbon lite for less than what they normally retail for. I can't speak on the carbon lites as I've never fished one but the veritas I owned was the 7'6" MH/F and it was a dang broomstick. Seems to be the general consensus that they are under rated power wise.
  2. I caught my PB on Jordan. Definitely worth the trip. I'm stationed in lejeune so it was a drive for me but totally worth it.
  3. I'm wondering if *** actually got them in? That red writing says they'll be getting small shipments throughout the next few weeks. I gotta get my hands on one!
  4. I've got a 102 swept on mine and I love it!!!
  5. Honestly whenever I get around to pulling the trigger on a champ 735 this is the exact reel that's going on it. Without a doubt in my mind. I'll be using it for frogs.
  6. I've heard guys say they love it for pitching but I use mine as a chuck and wind. The lightest I threw was 3/8oz swimjig with no trailer just for testing purposes but I could launch it. I imagine a 1/4oz with a trailer would be just fine.
  7. Gater I have not used braid on it for that exact reason. With them being so reduced I may pick up another one just to try fishing braid on.
  8. I can't compare it to a lexa but my T3B is awesome. Casts a mile, love the braking system, feels sturdy, and palms great. The only thing I would suggest you do and I am doing as well is replace the bushing in the worm drive with a bearing. It's smooth as is but I feel like with that upgrade it'd be darn hard to beat. The original hesitation a lot of people had was the sturdiness of the pop up hood. I have had no problems with it. There's actually less to go wrong with the pop up hood than there is with the rotating level wind of the tatula.
  9. I like 13 omens and st. Croix mojos for that price.
  10. I've never had a problem with Berkley 100% FC. I use 8, 12 and 14 pound test
  11. Anybody flip/pitch much? I usually find myself making pinpoint casts to holes between pads rather than really pitching or flipping.
  12. Thanks iabass and kickerfish. I'm sure my buddy will be thanking you too in about a month!
  13. Can't argue with that! It doesn't feel like a broomstick does it?
  14. This rod is rated as maghvy/xf. My question is how does it fish? Looking to buy my buddy a new frog rod for Christmas and am thinking of going this route. Any info on it would be great!
  15. I've had a president for probably 8 years and it's still going strong. Can't deny a solid performer like that.
  16. That's very true. Hard to come by an unbiased anything these days
  17. Thanks again everyone for the timely responses!
  18. And the handle collar it is! Thanks to you both for the assistance. Now, what exactly does this piece do? Purely a curious question, I'm not really working on the reel, just replaced the handle. It was a simple detach reattach operation
  19. I'll take some pictures later and post them, it's almost like a washer that fits over the main gear shaft and into the drag star if that helps explain it
  20. I just got really into upgrading and playing around with different parts on my reels and this came up: I ordered a drag star from a zillion type r however it didn't come with the piece that slides into it which sits between the handle and the star. What is this piece called? Thanks in advance.
  21. I feel like I've caught most of my fish from Tonka on a crank bait. The lake really is huge and what works in one bay may not work in the next is exactly right. Caught a few on frogs and a few on spinnerbaits but jigs definitely do seem to reign supreme. Which is totally different than the other little lake that I fish where you'll limit out in an hour throwing a plastic worm. I love how diverse Minnesota waters are and how much they make you think to find what's productive.
  22. A fast action will probably be the most logical route for you to go. A MH/F rod is pretty universal for a lot of techniques
  23. Just received two of these in the mail, one in killer gill and one in wicked perch. They look incredible! Can't wait to throw them and see how they walk compared to the frogs. I know there are some skeptics out there so I need to see it for myself. Anybody else excited about these?
