For schooling bass chasing shad I will work it fast with few if any pauses. If they are feeding on bluegill and other panfish, lots of pauses.

Try lakes Cassidy, Goodwin, Roesiger, and Stevens.

You do need spinning gear, especially for throwing baits 3/16 of an ounce or lighter. Casting gear does great with anything 1/4 ounce or above. I use spinning gear for senkos, soft jerkbaits, and most smaller plastics like grubs, small worms, or finesse worms. It's also the only way to go when throwing small, light cranks like a #5 shad rap, which is a great springtime bait and a good clearwater finesse bait year round. So I have four spinning setups that regularly see action, and 8 casting setups that I generally carry.

If there is chop in the water I will burn it pretty fast this time of year, especially early in the morning or on overcast days. If that doesn't work I will slow roll in deeper water. I think in summer it's best to start fast early and if that doesn't work, end low and slow.

If they don't get bit I usually use mend it on the holes where the hook went in and out.

I set them aside once they are torn, use mend it on them, put them back in the package, and spray a shot on bang in the package.

I hate them too, they are always blowing around on the water and catching on the line. I just try to pick them off before they end up on the spool.

Awesome lures and flat out catch fish. I use mostly the Fat Boy, Mad N, and Middle N.

I rig all my rods unless I'm unsure of the conditions I will face when I get there, and I put my likely to use lures in a top drawer I can just pop open and get them out.

Do you guys think there is a difference between fluoro and mono for casting distance? I'm not too sure there is from what I've seen.

If they seem fussy go with smaller plastics and jigs. Senkos, finesse worms, small creatures, ect.

It's all in the wrist, and you have to keep slack in the line. The twitches have to be pretty subtle.
