I wouldn't say 'no negative impacts'....just this year, I've lost three chatterbaits, one of which was a Jackhammer, a Pop Max and a Gunfish to those things

I think a snakehead went down to Georgia...probably looking for a soul to steal

I recommend you follow one of two or three paths -- do at least one before buying the Intex A. Go to a local park/lake that rents kayaks. And rent a kayak. If they have SOT, rent one of them; take a rod and paddle and fish for an hour or two. You will learn quite a bit. B. Find every kayak dealer within a couple hours. Call them and find out if they have demo days. This is your best starting place and you will learn so much so fast. Even if they don't have a demo day coming up, go into a shop and sit in a couple there in the shop. C. Get onto Facebook and find the local kayak fishing club. They may well be tournament-oriented, but they will almost certainly also be friendly and helpful. One or more may offer you a test drive of their yak. One or more will have used kayaks for sale this time of year; and a number of them will know of others outside the club that are selling kayaks. Lastly, search for threads on here with 'kayak' in the title. There has been a LOT of great info written here on BR about kayak fishing and outfitting in recent years. Good luck.

Platinum weights? Get all three. Add in some 3/16's and 1/16's. Fall rate is only one effect to consider. Size, shape, feedback, ability to shed weeds and come through brush, etc. You're going to lose weights and you're going to want to experiment with different weights in different conditions. Get yourself a few different weights of one material and pay attention to how they act for you.

Agreed....or just close your eyes and pick one. If you gave me three reels with the three lines you've mentioned, I would have a very difficult time telling you which was which.

Spinning or casting? Just one rod for everything you've mentioned? Price point target? I have a hard time imagining that you're already getting 40 yards on 3/4oz c-rig with that rod.....I'd say you're doing ok distance-wise....I'd have snapped that rod by now. I get why you've set your sights on a certain casting distance....and that isn't unimportant....but, I'll admit that I don't think I ever made distance a primary factor when considering new rods....though getting the right length, tip, etc certainly have a great affect on getting good distance.

Fair point. And...some years ANY team can look like a cupcake when up against the Pats.....but still....Defending Skins AND Fins will make a winner out of anybody....I'm calling it now....a 3-3 tie this weekend

Seems strange to some of us that live here on BR, but ....funny thing....not everyone who fishes for bass is on here. I know, I know...can't be true.....but MAYBE one out of every 20 bass fishermen that I have mentioned BR to....recognized it. I've tried a number of different trailers. I now use just two: White Rage Bugs.....and non-White Rage Bugs I'm not convinced I ever have to go back to trying anything different

7'MHF Fenwick Aetos w/40# braid Most of my chatterbait fishing is done in places that I want it running through a 18-24" in window between grass tops and the surface. But, I also throw in timber and yo-yo off the bottom in up to about 11 FOW. For me, braid is absolutely the best for these applications. As much as I love this set-up, I have put a Kistler FNR into a web shopping cart about a dozen times....expressly for chatterbaits.....one of these days, the self control is going to lose

Not familiar with LOZ, but this time of year in a lot of places, I've got a crankbait tied on...and a jerkbait (and senko) on standby

What hooks exactly are you using? I've only used slider heads with a 'worm bend' and don't recall having same problems

Try it. Nobody can say if its adequate....except you. Lipless are a different animal and the 'rules' for other lures don't necessarily appy....except having enough play in the rod/line to keep from losing hooked fish. So much depends on your environment and how you will use them. -do you need super sensitivity for work around wood and grass? -do you need casting distance first and foremost? -do you want versatility to work from 1/4 to 3/4 on same rod/line? -are you yo-yo-ing off a rocky bottom, or ripping through shallow grass? Use what you got....evaluate what you like and don't like about it...and then let the bait monkey tell you when it's inadequate

1/2 and under, I use 10# YZH on 7'MF. Over 1/2, I use 12# YZH on 7'4" cranking rod

Rage Bug.... reg and/or magnum. I've used Siebert's, Strike King, Biffleheads and generic (Janns and/or Barlow....not sure.) All work - but, for no reason I've totally figured out, the Biffleheads come through junk better. I generally use 3/8 and 1/2. I typically drag along bottom, but you can swim them just fine, too.

I got a couple Timber Tigers after reading about them here on BR. Never had one hang up. Never got so much as a bite on one, either, however.

Won't be the best for crankbaits, but will cover the rest of your needs pretty well.

It has been some 14 years since I was stationed there without a boat or kayak. But, IIRC, I rented boats at probably a half dozen lakes, most on the peninsula ....no idea if any/all still have rental boats: Cohoon and/or Meade, Lee Hall, Newport News Rez, Harwoods, Waller Mill, Bethel Bank fishing was tough -- mostly around ramps and some golf courses. If you have base access, you certainly have some more options
