Funny... they haven't gotten any better after nine years....I had issues just this past Saturday and on Sunday, I went through all of my terminal tackle to ensure that I have purged all of them.

Just curious, @Bruce11, what are you using for bottom baits?

Do those come from the same factory as the Shishamo '47 bearing' reels?

I generally like SOME contrast in my flipping/bottom jigs, but for no great reason, I have some boundaries....) Jigs that are primarily blues and blacks tend to get trailers that are dark -- from dark reds to black to dark blues and purples....but rarely greens Jigs that are primarily green and brown tend to get trailers from the green/brown/black families Not usually matching, but not huge contrast either

Have you studied your lake on Google Maps? I tried Earth, but I get fuzzy satellite pic, but on Google Maps, you can make out better definition; combined with your contour map, you may unlock some clues: general weedlines, dropoffs (more precise than your map above), and even a possible brush pile or two. Even though the southern points seem very subtle, they appear to have good definition out into the lake.

I don't have a tailgate, but I also use a bathmat for lifting/sliding my yak up onto the racks on my Durango. Used to use an old shirt, but the bathmat was a perfect improvement

Where to start....lol.... Conventional wisdom around here is "fish inside grass lines at high tide and outside lines at low tide"......and "outgoing tides tend to be better for most creeks and rivers" but....it can be different every time out at each location. Its been my experience that most Potomac bank (shallow) fishing is best starting about two hours before sunset. http://nationalbass.com/report often has some very good info about what's working lately. They used to have some very detailed guides for many areas of the region, but it looks like they've taken them down. I'll see if I've saved any for that area up there.

And maybe most important...tides

I haven't used rod floats, but my wife likes the styrofoam wraps that go above the foregrips. If I was worried about losing rods, I'd much prefer floats to leashes.

Count me as another that thought leashes were a good idea. Used one time. I did get a hand paddle to stick in my crate as a 'back up'. Never needed it once. Thousands of hours kayak fishing and I have NEVER had my paddle go into the water. It lays across my lap just fine.

Agreed. Take a look at the hooks on your finesse jigs - probably not near as stout as your 'regular' jigs. You may not need the backbone you allude to. I find a med power rod, or as likely, spinning rod better for finesse jigs, mainly because I value accuracy more than power. I can get a hookset and quick head turn with the fast tip. Additionally, if I'm going to be jigging heavy cover, I'm probably not throwing finesse jigs.

Was that not true for your Shimanos?

Years ago I tried to put a nightcrawler under a bobber on a 'second rod', while casting. Never worked for me, because unless I paid very close attention to the worm rod, I'd just be feeding fish. Turns out the fish weren't too keen on hooking themselves while I wasn't paying attention.
