I'm surprised. I can't say that I've left a Senko on a hook in last couple of years... However, since I switched mostly to Owners and Gammys, I haven't had a rusty hook. BPS, Eagle Claw (not Lazers), Berkeleys, Matzuo...some others....will rust if I look at them wrong

Might be more about the quality of hooks you use, than the brand of plastics you use

At risk of hijacking your thread....what was wrong with the J-Braid? It has had my attention, but I have not bought any yet.

What rod is it? There are some crankbait rods advertised as mod fast.

I'm still shopping for my first boat (entering the fifth year of shopping...lol), so, I'm fairly ignorant about this....but I'm somewhat surprised that a space and/or mount for onboard charger isn't integrated into the design by now. Seems it'd be a pretty rare fishing boat that doesn't have one at some point in its life.

I use braid with leader for every single hook presentation. (Trailer hook doesn't change it from a single hook lure, IMO.) I use YZH for every treble hook presentation.

Absolutely! Since bass behavior changes dramatically every four years, there's no reason we should be forced to read old info!

I have Biffles, SK jointed structure, and Seiberts. All work. However, even though design differences may seem small, the Biffles come through nasty wood much better than the other two. Not sure why -- for example the Seiberts look very similar side-by-side...though the SK's have much lower line tie and 'bullet-er' heads. I haven't used the SK tour football version which looks more like the Biffles; they may hang less.

I also kayak fish and generally take 4, sometimes 5, rods. Nice thing about kayak fishing is that I get to fish lots of different waters, so the Bait Monkey is still cool with me.....since I need to have 12-14 rods in the car --just so I'm prepared for any type of water I happen upon I'm joking...but not really I would not be at all surprised if I didn't take the exact same four or five on any two of my last 15 outings. I'm on the Daiwa side of the Shimano/Daiwa fence, so I can't comment about Curados. I'd be real surprised if you end up disappointed in any of the top brand reels that MSRP at or above $150.

Nice fish! Cool thing about not having a scale is that she's going to weigh more in a few months....and even more in a couple years.

I know that blind adherence to rules while bass fishing means you'll get your lunch money taken, but I still automatically tie on a spinnerbait if its choppy...any time of year, any water...can't help myself

I'd describe it as soft, hard plastic....it cannot be rolled...at least, not by me. I'm a bit tired of all the mesh types.... seriously considering getting a bunch of Rosie's Rod Pockets

Added benefit of CPS (and getting it straight with keeper on weighted hook) is that you don't have to re-tie every time you replace the plastic --as you would if rigging like in the vid with 'worm-bend' hook.

So....the Monkey bested me. I went ahead and ordered the Shooters, jigs, and tabs. Mini review: summary - jury is still out. I spent about 45 minutes in the yard working on the mechanics before taking these out on the water. I was fishing from a kayak, so height above surface may be lower than if shooting from boat deck....not sure yet where the advantage lies. (Higher launch might actually be a little better.) I got decent enough at skipping them, but not all too consistent yet. Best skips were farther than I get with my baitcaster, but the majority are not. I think that the value (over baitcaster) will be in accuracy, vice distance. Rigging is a bit of a challenge; getting the plastic perfectly centered is tough. Less than perfect rigging doesn't hurt skipping much, but it does affect the swimming/gliding action quite a bit. I didn't get any bites on them that day, but then again, I didn't get bites on anything else around that time/location. I'll try them again, but I am not advocating that anyone else should be going out of their way to get these...yet. Unless....unless, you either fish spinning gear exclusively or have difficulty skipping with a baitcaster. I will say that my spinning gear skipping is far better with these than 'normal'. But, I've come a long ways with my skipping in the past year, but I still have trouble hitting really tight spots (like between a pontoon and lower unit.) These may end up being best for bulls-eye skipping.

Take it in the yard and tie on the lure you want to throw. You'll know soon enough. The only real limitation will be whether or not you can actually cast that small spoon or spinner. Ratings are very 'approximate'...however, if your rod is rated 1/4-1oz and you try to cast a 1/16oz beetle spin, you're likely to be disappointed.
