Ever approach an owner of a pond?
Having grown up on property where a TON of people trespassed and fished, and now living on three acres >, I can see both sides of this one. If people were there without permission, we called the sheriff, every time. If ANYONE asked, they got permisssion. We had several families that would come once or twice a month who had standing permission to fish. One of them worked for a pepsi distributor and would bring us a few cases of soda every time. Right now I have access to half a dozen private ponds, with standing permission to fish. Some people say no, some people say yes. If you offered to contribute some way ( brush clearing, etc), promised that you would C&R, and not leave a trace, and they still said no, then they are dirtbags in my opinion.

Very Upsetting Story
Chris I know youre a strict C&R guy, but bowfishing for carp is a ton of fun. When I was a kid, I used to bowfish on my property and sell the carp to Guatemalan migrant workers. Very fun way to make a couple bucks. I assume your beef with it is the wasted fish, but come on, thats like saying that you are against bug zappers or bug bombs, lol ;D

Well duh!!! With a BMI of your level you could float and just let the wind blow you 200 yards to shore Thats right folks. This guy hates fat people. Let him have it.

Are you in enough sahpe if
As of last week, I know i can climb back into the boat while: Holding a loomis dropshot rod in one hand, and sunglasses in the other. I was wearing boots, 3 layers of clothes including rain gear, 51 degree water. It sucked. I could swim 200 yards alot easier than I could run it these days, lol.

Reaction Strike California Classic - any good?
Micro, its all good here. I get too worked up sometimes. My apologies. bassmaster, i am far from being a good swimbaiter, but im one of the best at buying baits I wished I hadnt ;D For a bait in that smaller range ( as far as big baits go) there are a ton of options in a wide range of prices. As far as three piece hardbaits, the pickings are slim at the cheaper levels. Matts Gill, while certainly not cheap, is a steal at $50. The triple trout at about $70 is good. the 6 and 8" real deal from 3:16 are amazing, but your wallet will feel it. as far as big baits in general there are a ton of good cheap baits. as i mentioned, I think the river2sea bottomwalkers are great baits, and cheap too. the megabait bass grande/LA Slider are good deepwater baits as well. matts soft baits, 3:16 rising son and mission fish. tons of good baits out there for less than 20 but with very few exceptions, you will only get really good baits from California companies that have been at it awhile. Thats just how it is. There are guys out here that have been building them for nearly 20 years, only recently has all the garbage started to show up.

I wish Lane would get on here once in awhile. I have been sinking my fish for a couple years now, and would love to get her take on the method.

Reaction Strike California Classic - any good?
No, they suck. Seems to be a perfectly appropriate answer to a question that could only have two outcomes. They are or are not worth a "darn" You didnt ask for details, you asked if they are any good, my opinion that they are not, is perfectly clear.

Question about drop shot hooks?
Owner Mosquito 1 or 1/0
-
best drop shot baits???
To pick one single bait: 6" Roboworm Straight Tail, Prizm Craw. Not that it matters, but, Roboworms arent actually handpoured. Some robotical engineer/fisherman, designed robots to pour baits instead of injecting them. Thats why they are multi layered and soft like a handpour, but absolutely precise everytime, unlike a handpour.

Reaction Strike California Classic - any good?
Simply saying something sucks doesn't mean a heck of a lot. There's a lot of that going on on this board. Glenn brought it up in another thread. Someone asks about a bait then someone simply says it sucks and leaves it at that. How about if they've used it? How long? Has it caught fish? How does it rate to something comparable? Likes? Dislikes? Qualities? And if it doesn't have any, why? If it sucks it sucks, but a reason might be nice. I know there are some long-time, specialized fisherman on this board with a wealth of knowledge, but there aren't any mind readers on this board. It just seemed to me that everything I said, you had an argument against. I also felt like my credibility on the bait was being questioned. I suppose I would have responded better had your simple "WHY" ( yeah I caught that little jab in the other thread too) been posed as a question and not an insinuation that my thoughts on the bait were unfounded. What it boils down too is, I have spent hundreds, if not over a thousand dollars on crappy swimbaits, and learned the hard way. I also have an extensive network of buddies who make the same mistake. So between us, we have had experience with just about every big bait there is, and probably all of the commercially available baits. So why does the paint flake off? ---Because they are poorly made. Why do the joints rust and break?--Because they are poorly made Why don't I recomend this bait?--- Because I know it to be poorly made and not even worth the screamin deal you think you got. It just gets really old having people act like I'm some sort of elitist/snob, have them insist that their 100 size reel, 30lb braid, and a flipping stick, along with a cheap bait, are just as good as what I suggest. Then, a couple weeks/months later, getting PM's about just how right I was, and how they wished they would have listened the first time. I'm not sponsored by anyone, I recomend what I know to be good baits. I also feel very strongly that the real big bait makers, who come up with this stuff, and build it well, should get my money. Not the dirtbags that take the ideas of American craftsmen, knock them off, and send them overseas to be poorly made. Then having the gall to charge 500-700% of their cost. Yes the baits I like tend to be expensive, and I am too broke to buy them most of the time. But I like to know that my hard earned dollar goes to an American craftsman who comes up with these ideas to put food on his families table. If that makes me a "swimbait guy" (read: swimbait snob) then so be it.

Reaction Strike California Classic - any good?
have it your way. remember me when the paint starts flaking off, the hardware rusts, and the joints break. Thats assuming it swims well enough to make it through those 30 casts though.

Reaction Strike California Classic - any good?
LOL. For everyone's future reference: Stay away from: Reaction Strike Akita River2Sea HARD swimbaits ( bottomwalkers are nice baits) Anything off ebay that isnt from the remaining major companies. With the exception of the Japanese, nobody across the Pacific can make a swimbait that is worth a crap. And even then, most of the japanese baits are just well crafted baits that are weird and dont work all that well, lol.
