  1. Welcome to the best bass site ever
  2. I know they start with eating algae and other microscopic organisms, then to minnows espcially little shad, and as soon as bass are 7-8 inches they basically eat anything and everything, as far as how much im not totally sure but the bigger the more they eat would be the best assumption
  3. early morning fish close to cover, shady side should produce all day long and keep the largemouths there, in the early morning i dont think bass care about sun or shadiness but i know for one thing the majority of them are in the shallows
  4. I second the salad spoon, but my favorite for that stuff with out a doubt would be a moss boss
  5. I totally agree with bass fisherman, the average im assuming here would be 2-3 twitches, let it settle and the same pattern again, every other or so switch to a different amount of jerks and pause a decent amount near structure
  6. One book i liked all about bass fishing is " Bass: Largemouth in the 1990's" written by many pro anglers
  7. 100 percent yes, in another post i just meantioned i got my renewal to bassmaster magazine, and i let it sit there for a few days, decided its definitely not going to be renewed, number one reason is because of you guys and the owner and maintenance guys of this site, this site is all i need and the actual on the lake studying, thanks more than you can know guys
  8. same here bass smacker and spotaholic, i just got my renewal letter, let it sit on my desk for 2 days and decided its not worth it to re-up with them, the magazine in my opinion has gone down hill, every other page is an advertisement, this site fills me with all the great information i need from you intelligent guys, and if i ever have too i have like 5-6 years of bassmaster mags sitting away in my closet, im with you guys no more bassmaster for me
  9. congrats thats such a good feeling, a year or so ago in the spring me and my fishing partner always find many lures, i had found a yo zuri top water plug thats probably about 10-20 bucks, such a great feeling
  10. my weapon of choice would be a 6 inch black with red flake lizzard all the way
  11. when fishing slop: declare a loud and vocal "slop wars" "here fishy fishy, anyone home.... anyone wanna come out and play"
  12. Thats a great idea by all of you guys who have posted, i do the same, why should a few careless anglers ruin it for the majority of us, i clean up after them and do get frustrated sometimes but i look at it this way, im not cleaning up for them but for the wildlife that could get harmed by this garbage espcially the fishing line, its for the love of the game that we keep these beautiful waters the way we found them.
  13. I cannot believe im asking this question and think i know the answer, but do fish sleep, they have no eyelids that cannot close, and therfore cannot sleep right? they just rest but do not actually sleep, is that correct answer, thanks in advance guys, if that is the case thats so strange, ive been fishing my whoile life but havent thought about bass not sleeping like most animals
  14. I fish with my best friend kyle, have since i was 8 or so. Best partner a guy could ask for, besides that 99 percent, i fish with my dad
  15. a 2 pounder pathetic as it may seem is a good fish on the island de long, anything better is exciting to quite exciting, the fishing pressure is real bad, im really thinking about moving to upstate ny in a few years, more lakes and less people, with more of a wild life scene available, just my .02 cents
  16. mine would be using surface frogs like the sumo that many of the guys like, getting pounded by the bass of course haha and not waiting that 2-3 second period, i yank immediatley, then scream and get all excited while my friend and fishing buddy laughs his *** off, the other thing i have done a few times and would like to stop is, casting a soft plastic bait out about 10-20 feet and closing the bail too quickly, the bass pull on the line and start jetting the other way and yank the taught line as i frantically try to release the bail, play catch up and finally set the hook
  17. Ive had numerous small bass catch soft plastics basically the same size as them, i try to always use 5 inch soft baits for bigger bass, and as far as hard baits espcially at night, definitey the motto is the bigger and louder the better!
  18. I hope this is the right location to put this question, but ive never owned one and am looking into getting one this off season, im sick of not being able to know whats the structure like in deep water, anyhow what are the good brands for depthfinders, that have good graphs and priced reasonable well, id like to spend about 150 but if i have to spend more i will, just something good it doesnt have to be top of the line, thanks alot for any help
  19. I am definitely a slop fisherman, man theres nothing like getting hit over that stuff, it feels like they are coming from nowhere ;D
  20. I do not like the frenzy lures at all, berkely has some really good stuff, i really like the berkely bungeee hawg lures, they have caught me many big bass, and i just bought their crawfish lures, they look like they will catch some bass but have not used them yet
  21. that link basssnacther added, does anyone know what type of hooks those are, because i have those dragonflies already just without the hook, you can find them on ebay very easily
  22. I like both equally, probably order more from cabelas for some strange reason, and saw a cabelas store in person forgot in which state, that absolutely blew me away, the set up of the store was down right amazing
  23. I want to thank all of you guys who commented on this topic, it never crossed my mind and i learned alot, thanks parrothead for asking this question, i was fascinated to read all the replies, i didn't think if the new fish was large he would have a problem but now i know
  24. Id go with tackle warehouse and i cannot go wrong with cabelas
  25. I know they say if you cut as much of the hook out as possible then the hook will rot out in 24-48 hours. And this i do believe, im not arguing that one. On one fishing trip my father and his friend had been arguing my friend and I. Anyhow we felt if an entire lure had been left in the bass' mouth for instance an entire heddon crazy crawler, wouldnt this most likely kill the fish caused by any means. Examples would be an entire lure with hooks not rusting out immediately, or the fish dying of starvation before the lure and hooks rusted away, and lastly if the bass tried getting it out which they often do, wouldn't this destroy their entire mouth by ripping the lure off in thick timber and logs or weeds? I personally feel this is very dangerous scenario for the fish but always wanted to hear what others think about this topic
