First Throat Hooked Bass - What To Do?
I haven't throat hooked a bass in years. But when I have in the past I would take my knife and separate its skull from it's spine in one quick motion(you don't have to cut that deep), gut it, then either make a small fire and cook it on the spot or if there are any birds around give it to them.

Wide Gap Hooks
The only problem with low EWG hookup rates are the Fishermen utilizing them.

Why Are People So Inconsiderate
I've had that happen to dude, what I do is I take my swim bait setup and cast it as hard as I can towards their boat. They get the hint and move away, retarded that I have to go to those lengths though. Oh and if they don't move on the first cast I intentionally with make sure I hit their boat the second cast. I warn you though be prepared for some confrontation if you go that far.

Keeping It Simple
Do what this guy says! Don't get to caught up on reading and trying to "figure out" bass fishing. I never read a bass book in my life, my dad started me when I was around 4. I think the longer you do it the more in tune you become. I catch lunkers all the time and have the pics to prove it. From one fisherman to another here are a few pointers I've learned over the years, if your not catching anything move to a different spot, always count to 2 before you set your hook, best times to fish are early morning and dusk, top water lures are best used on water that is as flat as glass. That should get you started and goodluck bub!

Purchased Some New Plastic
Hey guys, looks like i'll be joining you kayakers shortly. I just purchased the Big Tuna. Being a first time kayaker I did a lot of research on exactly what I wanted. Something that tracks well, used mainly in lakes and the Hudson River, and is very stable. I love standing up when I fish, I've been a shore fisherman all my life and I prefer standing. I originally thought I would be getting a one seater. The models I looked at were the Jackson Cuda 14, Old Town Predator 13, Native Craft Slayer 14.5, and the Ride 135. From what I could conclude from the various reviews and specs was the Old Town Predator 13 would be the most stable which was perfect for me and could still track "ok". Then I discovered the Big Tuna. A tandem fishing kayak that has everything I wanted plus more. It has the stability I want, great tracking, plus you could comfortably fit two people in multiple different seating arrangements which was the selling point for me. There are a lot of other really neat features like a live bait well built into the yak. One down side is it's super heavy weighing in at 87lbs and that's without the seats(102lbs) and considering I'll be going a lot by myself loading and unloading is gna be a royal pain. I drive a Honda Civic Si Sedan and plan on using 20" foam blocks to transport the yak on. Hopefully I'll be receiving my kayak within the next few weeks here. I'll make sure to take tons of pictures and update my post when I get her. I'm super eager to go out on the Hudson for the fist time and catch a striper. Season starts next month! Hopefully this post will help others in the same situation as me. Here are some pics I found online: Here is the review that helped sell me on it:

Spring Frost Tonight!
Decided to go out yesterday like you instead of today. It snowed the previous night. Caught this bad boy with a MS Slammer around 3pm using a stop and go retrieve.

Spring Frost Tonight!
Pretty much the same story here in NY. I plan on going out Thursday supposed to be a high of 55 like you. I went last week and fished mid day in the shallows using a 6" Huddleston slow sink, was out there for about 3 hours and picked up 2 nice sized Largemouth Bass. My method was to speed reel it in then let it sit for a second slowly sinking. As I reeled it in both times I saw the bass follow in up to shore, I let the line go slack and they hit it. On the slow retrieve I was getting nibbles. I plan on bringing the camera with me this time so hopefully I can get some picks. I don't think the cold will bring down the water temp to to much. If I was you I would prob fish drop offs first and deep water structures real slow with a worm, wait for about an hour before I switched to a deep water crank. Then right about when the sun is at it's highest I would start hitting the shallows searching for some spawn/pre spawn sites reeling in with a stop and go retrieve using a Bluegill Swimbait. All this talk of fishing and now I'm rummaging about my tackle box thinking about Thursday lol. Good luck man and bring back some stories!

Dove Into <;swim-Bait-S<
Meh, Ill give it a go with the rod I have. If it doesn't cast well then I'll just put the lure away till I decide to invest in a more expensive big bait rod. Thanks for all the tips guys.
