  1. After some homework, I've come to the conclusion that: A. There was so much wrong with my OP...description, terminology...?? B. I believe the pawl is broken. I tried to remove the cap but it will not pass the reel body across the front of it. I'm not sure I can safely and accurately disassemble the reel deep enough to remove it. Actually, let me restate that; I can disassemble it, not so sure about the reassembly part ?
  2. I was out today; air was 27 degrees, water was 37...throwing blades Needless to say everything was icing up. Well about an hour into the day, the levelwind on my Revo S stopped moving. I could see it was full of ice so I picked it out with a fizzing needle so it was all clear but it still would not move on its own. I can slide it back and forth with my finger but it will not move with the handle; spool spins though and I can see the "worm rod" spinning too. I'm assuming the mate to the worm rod is stripped. Is this a hard replacement for a rookie reel fixer upper (me) For your time: The entry stream we had to run through as an ice breaker this morning Me with one of the smallies My buddy with a nice pike
  3. This summer I had one on that weighed 9lbs-4oz. Unfortunatley she jumped a few feet from the boat and got off.
  4. Not sure who else saw this, not this past weekend but the weekend before, Takahiro brought one in and noticed another one following it. He asked the official if he can throw another line and he was told yes. So, as he throws a drop shot to that fish, he has the first one dangling from his rod standing straight up and tucked under his arm. The whole time the fish is bouncing off his back. They then weight the first, he releases it, picks up the second rod and says, verbatim "Oh he choked it". Well, he choked it because it was left there for 3 minutes while you weighed and released the first fish. Now, I'm no Mr. Conservation here but if the driving motto behind MLF is fish care, that rule needs to change. There was no fish handling violation called with the first one bouncing off his back and they didn't show the hook removal of the second that choked it, because it was probably already in his gullet. I'm a Tak fan and this is not his fault; he's only playing the rules. I just think that rule needs to be adjusted (removed).
  5. No way! Going this Sunday and plan on fishing into December
  6. It's awesome Glenn and crew! An undertaking of this size involves a lot of research, homework and planning. Well done and thank you for always striving to make this the best, friendliest and most efficient bass fishing site out there!
  7. Let em have it brother!!
  8. If you can get a bass to spit up a prey he's eaten, that's the best way to tell what to throw. I was catching a few on a swimbait this summer when one spit up a small baitfish near the kayak. I switched to a 1/4 oz ( I usually throw 1/2 ) chrome, blue back lipless and whacked the everlovin bejeeses outta them that day. It just happened to be a good match for what they wanted that day.
  9. If there's no ice, I'm fishing It's all about changing your baits and presentation in cold water
  10. Hoping the best for you man. Be smart, be safe
  11. Well I hope you get her!
  12. Are there any pics of that behemoth^^^? Must be a complete sow! I guess I just feel the chances of the absolute heaviest fish in a state has been caught are astronomical.
  13. There's no way you could convince me that the heaviest bass, in any state, has been caught. There's a record in every state lurking somewhere.
  14. May I throw this out there; that if you see someone on "your spot", maybe, just maybe, it was "their spot" before it was yours? Maybe they found it with their own Si just like you did?
  15. So how would one pull this data from a pic; if one was so bold to do so ? Asking for a friend
  16. Congrats! I remember my first drop-shot fish and, yes, it is a different/new feel of a bite. In fact, I still get giddy when I get a drop-shot fish because it's a technique I had wanted to learn so bad and I still get amazed that it works so well under certain conditions when other ones don't. The drop shot has saved many-a-day for me.
  17. Sending you positive thoughts Native
  18. Some of the guys on here are scary crazy. Truly is a great resource
  19. For me it's all about wind. If it's slick, I'll use the 1/15 down to 25' Any breeze and I step it up accordingly to keep bottom contact and feel. Too breezy and I either go shallow or change baits/presentation altogether.
  20. My son called me last night from college to tell me about a fishing survey he took on as a project/paper for a marketing class he's in. He asked me if I would post it on my forum so here it is. 1. How often do you go fishing? 2. What type of fishing do you usually do? (fresh, salt, target species) 3. How do you hear about new products? Social media? Friends? Online? 4. When buying a new product what makes you finally decide to purchase it? Reviews? Friends Recommendations? 5. Where did you usually shop pre covid-19? In stores? Online? 6. Does the fishing industry have enough gadgets? 7. How much do you spend yearly on fishing equipment Glenn/mods, if this is against the rules I completely understand; delete as needed if so. Thank you folks!
  21. Is this the BIG surprise??
  22. Happy B-Day man!!
  23. This an actual pic of my first car. 1969 Camaro I bought it at 18 yrs old, rebuilt almost everything on it. Had a built 383 stroker motor, 350turbo trans, 3.73 rear end. Car would pull 7.90's through the 1/8 and 12.50's in the 1/4 @ ~117mph Hardly ever lost a street race; may 3 I can think of out of 100+ This is how I got nicknamed SmokinAl
  24. My wife calls all my baits "jiggers" She'll ask how my morning was and what kind of jigger did I catch them on Not sure where she got that from...
  25. I'd be all over those if lead wasn't banned in Maine
