  1. Looks like Im going to have to try out some finesse fishing here regardless
  2. LOL I dont know, Im brand new to this spot, never fished it so Im learning. I would imagine since they are old sandwash/gravel pits that the bottom is going to be mostly sandy but there must also be digouts all over the place so it should be pretty contoured. Im going to take a shot in the dark and anything minnow, silverish, blackish should be OK here for the non finesse stuff
  3. Oh Im sure there are, I know there are black crappie and catfish and carp
  4. For this particular place what I am able to gather is that killies (shiners) are the primary baitfish
  5. Thanks I'll try it out. Seems there are also northern pike in there but I find that a little hard to believe. I think I'll be there a lot over the summer
  6. Just found a bunch of info on this particular place but still looking for all the clear water advice I can get
  7. It's actually a series of ponds connected to the Maurice river. I have no idea on the size but I do know none are huge. I have no idea about the forage I'm looking it up to see if I can find anything on it. As far as trophy I could care less just like to fish.
  8. From the little time I had to invest and from the shore I didn't see much but the nj state record was caught here and was also caught from the shore so I'm sure there has to be cover somewhere it may just be too early in the year for it.
  9. Thank you sir. I tried a shadilicious but no luck, those huddlestons look much better. Looks like the bait monkey may steer me in that direction shortly.
  10. I am clueless with clear water. I have never really run into it until today. I did some searches on lure color etc but nothing I tossed out there worked. I got zero bites. Any advice is very appreciated. The pic is where I was. Its deep and comes up quickly its an old sand plant.
  11. Swimbait success, first time out with them, went out this morning with the Strike King Shadilicious, hooked up on only one small one in two hours but I was determined to get something. Swimbait virgin no more.
  12. I have some KVD Shadilicious, I stopped at Dicks tonight to pick up some of these and they had only the shortys. Ill have to swing over to a local sporting goods store tomorrow. All I read is good stuff about them.
  13. LOL Im sure it is, but I like to buy my toys
  14. I dont think its too much until you cant lift it.
  15. Well my new box is huge. Time to go shopping
  16. Ill be trying these out tomorrow. First time fishing a swimbait.
  17. Lake snot, snot grass both perfect descriptions
  18. I hate it, sticks to everything, seems to be coating the bottom everywhere around me right now. Just a rant.
  19. I really dont have much to offer here other than an experience I had the other day. Very clear water, I was using a 1/2 oz sexy shad strike king. It was a bit overcast and a little windy but I did manage to catch my first spinnerbait bass that day both small and honestly I was surprised they hit it but it certainly can be done in clear water.
  20. It will be big enough for now, Im not sure for how long though. Sadly the bait monkey also has a hold of my 8yr old, he needs a job.
  21. Sigh, Ive run out of room and needed to expand. Just purchased the Plano 3750 Guide Series bag. Hopefully its big enough. Still need more spinnerbaits. More rods, more reels. Im pretty sure it never stops.
  22. Yesterday was really the first day I was able to get out and less than two hours at that. First real trip of the year, two small bass which is fine, Ill take it. All new gear and caught them on spinnerbaits.
  23. I love this line and bought it completely by accident. I went to a local shop here to pick up a chronarch and a rod, while I was looking around for a rod the guy asked me if I wanted it spooled, I said sure asked for 12lb fluro and didnt give it a second thought, he gave me two choices I picked that. When I checked out I was like holy crap I just spent 22.00 on line. After using it, I would spend 22 again, again and again. Great line.
