  1. Yeah , i bought the 998 Si non HD , selling it.
  2. the go pro hero 4 allows you to set loops from 5 minutes, to 20 minutes, its great, thats all i run. Go with the go pro hero 4 , there is no competition. They use go pros to shoot hollywood movies. what i love about my go pro hero 4 is the fact that i can shoot at 120 FPS in 720fps or 240 FPS in VGA standard. Why that is so amazing is the incredible things you capture in slow motion at those framerates. and 60 fps at 1080 , 30 FPS at 2K and 24fps at 4K (2k = 2 x 1080, and 4k= 4x1080).
  3. AH dammit, i had 2 of them in my cart on friday, when i went to pay they were all sold out. screw this, im just gonna make my own
  4. i guess i could run a simulation in solidworks or I could import it into Autodesk inventor and run the mold simulator to see where its not getting filled up. I don't know who or where the local mold builder guy is .
  5. I have the hero 4 silver for the sole reason that it is the only model with a LCD touch screen built in. with the hero 4 black it doesn't come with the LCD screen. I I would recommend getting the Sportsman mount which allows you to mount it to your fishing pole, rifle, bow and arrow or you kayak paddle. get the head harness, and the chest harness and an extra battery. also i recommend getting the housing that floats. here is an artilcle that compares all of them http://www.gizmag.com/gopro-hero4-vs-gopro-hero3plus/34090/
  6. i was gonna recommend the quick release plate to switch back and forth, then i just watched your video of the XI5 sinking to the bottom of the lake because of the quick release plate. If it makes you feeel any better , my terrova 80 ipilot has broken in so many different parts that it was bascially scrap plastic after 1 year.
  7. thats funny, i just got rid of my minn kota terrova and switched to the XI5 because of how much quieter the xi5 is comapred to the minn kota. Im in an aluminum boat so i get pushed around alot
  8. love mine , get one , worth the money. might skip the sportsman mount though, cool , but unecssary. get the hero pro 4 silver
  9. so I am abouty 90% ready to cut my first aluminum cnc bait mold. I just need to add some runners and some cavities to my mold. any tips of knowledge on the placement of cavities and runners in a 2 piece mold?
  10. learn auto-cad programs if youre really serious about it.
  11. I can tell you that if you are using tungsten weights while surf fishing on the beach you do not want inserts period, because they get all gunked up with sand and it sucks
  12. an update on Los Virgenes Reservoir, there are some crappy in there, and i saw a 15 lb catfish , but caught no bass while fishing there for about 5 hours, lost a lot of lures though. maybe there are some bass in there but i saw none and caught none where i was fishing. the water there is so clear its insane.
  13. I wish i had the money to get up to lake lopez but alas i don't. Seriously though , i got a 6 month ban from Casitas for (i will quote the letter I received) " Inappropriate behavior and comments to staff " as well as "ongoing issues and concerns". The Park services officer who decided to do this has it in for me big time. he told me one time that they could "charge me with assault" because he said I had waked the boat launch area and knocked a guy in the water (when i never did that, and I had a witness/employee saying otherwise, plus i am extremly courteous when it comes to boat) . I went to 2 board meetings, and tried to appeal , and met privatley on 2 occasions with the general manager but nothing. Ive only been fishing there since october 2013 , but i have read every single minutes of every board meeting so i am fully aware of the insane idiocracy that place is run by. That being said, I have fished everywhere else but casitas and it made me realize how much i love Casitas. Ive gotten really good at Jerkbait fishing for halibut and i have mastered the barred surf perch (both of which are amazing to eat).
  14. its less than 2 hours from me , hell i might just go up there this week, if i do, i will have to let you know.
  15. with exactly 56 days until my 6 month ban at Lake Casitas is over (i was banned for 6 months due to "inappropriate comments and behavior" seriously ***) anyways. I have been doing some fishing at some other So-Cal spots these past 4 months, and here is what ive learned. 1. Bard Lake or Woodranch Reservoir---amazing , don't go , they have cameras now and they call the cops, plus the hike is horrendous and so is hopping the fence. 2. my question is has anyone fished Las Virgenes Reservoir before? ive been there fishing, once , but didn't catch anything. but it was in early december so ... PM for instructions on where the hole in the fence is
  16. I have extensive experience dealing with 3d printers adn lure molds. here is the thing. you don't want to print lures using extrusion 3d printers, I have tried , they have issues. The new SLA DLP printers you want to get. they use a DLP projector and a liquid resin to 3d print objects. The bottom line is you will still have to learn autocad programs. my suggestion with that is learn and use Solidworks because thats what you need to learn (many programs are free if you pretend you are a student). if you have a MAC , Rhino 3d is a free program that is awesome for making baits. also you can download blender for free for PC and MAC. I spend most of my time at a local Makerspace where i pay $30 and get access to a whole bunch of tools with my membership
  17. true, I grew up fishing the potomac river and bandit 200 chartreuse with black splatter back crankbaits was money there. Move to California , and fishing at lake casitas you can't use any bait that has chartreuse in it, period. i was just very let down when i fished the fuzzy beaver since the guys from Riot baits are freaking the coolest dudes, couldn't be nicer when i met them at iCast. the problem with it is the lack of action in the flappers (it became apparent testing in my 200 gallon aqauarium with 2 bass in it). Also i am just a missle bait fiend, from the fuse craw 4.4 in green pumpkin purple on a drop shot is killer. for me nothing beats a d-bomb in green pumpkin red flake texas rigged on a 4-0 roboworm hook and a 3/8 black tungsten weight (or in superbug color) . Here is a picture of the new destroyer which is killer.
  18. Personally i caught my PB of 8.6 and 2nd PB of 7.6 in the same week last year on a d-bomb. the Riot bait fuzzy beaver doesn't even come close to the D-Bomb, sorry , i threw both of them side by side for 10 days on same setup, D-bomb wins 3:1. \ I somehow have 4 packs of missle baits new bait called "destroyer" and have beeen fishing them for 3 weeks now. blows the door off anything else, period. wait till it gets released.
  19. Don't forget about the endangered southern steelheead trout and the coho salmon, its insane how much water has gone straight out the ocean for pulse flows. nobody is talking about that are they ?
  20. shut the front door
  21. That happeend to me more than once, it broke the spacer and the thing the spacer locks into to allow you to turn it. I used my ipilot for 300 days last year , and its a heaping pile of crud sitting in my garage right now, as everything plastic broke on it. the worst is when the magnets stop linning up and then it won't turn off, that's when the fun starts. Anyway my biggest thing i hate about my ipilot is the really really loud noise it makes when it turns left or right. I couldn't keep denying how loud it was anymore. When i was at ICast this year, i played around with the Ulterra for about an hour , and i can tell you that they did absolutley nothing to fix the noise problem (which does hurt your fishing ) . So i recently bought the Motor Guide XI5 and i couldn't be happier here is why 1. its a way way quieter, by a large margin 2. its smaller and takes up less space 3. smaller and lighter remote, and much more intuitive (and doesn't suffer from crappy battery connectivity issues ipilot does) 4. much much better wireless foot pedal (it has feedback via a spring, the speed adjustment dial is actually possible to adjust with your foot) 5. i can adjust and move my spot lock location 5 feet in any direction with a touch of a button 6. better integration with fish finder.
  22. IT makes a differenceh in clear california resevoirs but on the most part not so much. I love megastrike shakey heads period. guranteed to always land right side up and stay right side up every time. I pair a missle bait d-bomb green pumpkin red or in super bug with a green pumpkin megastrike shakey head and that is my go to bait anytime i have to fish somewhere new. might also try the fuse 4.4 with a megastrike or the yum pumpkin shakey head in green pumpkin is sick too.
  23. Texas Rig Best : 1. Roboworm 4/0 or 3/0 its the best hook around period, the bait holder doesn't destroy plastic, and its thin and light and makes for a much smaller and compact overall profile than everything else, and I never have baits spin on me (its made by Gamakatsu) 2. GAMAkatsu 4/0 or 3/0 Red EWG , caught a 8.7lb and a 7.6 lb in the same week on one. something about using this red hook with a green pumpkin red flake bait just works 3. VMC light flipping hook TEXAS RIG WORST 1. TROKAR LAZER flipping hook and EWG hook. they are very sharp , and that's because they have monster thick points on them that are great for piercing the fishes mouth, but PortaJohn smelly when it comes to the small stinky barb that has resulted in monsters lost from shaking the hook enough times where it was ridicolous. also they're baitholdes blow and destroy plastics , and the curve on their hooks is all wrong. Eagle claw as a brand so Phaking ****ty seriously the suck. its like if YUGO made a luxury car brand, its still a YUGO and it sucks Drop Shot best 1. Mustad period 2. Trokar Lazer - 3. . roboworm 2-0 hook Drop shot worst 1. gamakatsu 2. skinny bear 3. i
  24. Go return the spider bag (i had one and they just don't cut it) and go to Dicks and buy the Abu Garcia Veritas Sling bag that has a 3 velcro straps and a bottom butt holder on one side where you can store one or two rods comfortably. I have hiked mountains with this thing and a rod attached to it. I have one and i don't know what i would do without it. On the other side of the bag is a drink pouch that can fit a 2 liter bottle of soda. its $49.99 but worth every penny.
  25. I live in Ventura, and I have a boat tagged for lake casitas, where abouts are you in southern california? what local lake where you speaking of? I only use left handed baitcasters cause casting and then switching hands just seems stupid to me
