  3. Bills don't go from state senate to US senate #1 . i also talked to Dad , there is no way this thing is gonna pass. who stands in its way ? I don't about 247 house republicans and 54 republican senators. the republican drought bill passed the house this summer. Dad's bio is below "Mike House is the Director of Hogan Lovells' legislative group. He is recognized as one of the top three legislative lawyers in Washington, D.C. by Chambers USA and is ranked No. 10 on Washingtonian magazine's list of "50 Top Lobbyists." Mike concentrates on legislative and regulatory matters before the U.S. Congress, White House, and various departments and independent agencies of the executive branch. He represents national and multinational corporations, trade associations, and coalitions. He also has significant experience in crisis management on complicated and controversial legislative issues before Congress.
  4. https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/114/s1894 Prognosis 6% chance of getting past committee. 3% chance of being enacted. IT hasnt passed the senate , its stuck in committee. Luckily my dad happens to be the #3 most powerful lobbyist in all of washington dc (where im from) so he is on the case. not to worry it won't pass. known about this bill for months now. but it aint gonna pass.
  5. Calm down it hasn't passed senate yet , it has a 3% chance of being enacted so not to worry
  6. Interesting on the shallower depths. I work for FLIR, we own Raymarine, so i will be switching to the CPT 200 here shortly . any comments or notes you can give me on how to improve our product let me know and i will forward them to the proper guys
  7. Why i love my motorguide XI5 way more than the terrova. SpotLock Motor guide = as little movement and steering as possible, never overcorrects. Also i can move my spot lock 5 feet in any direction by hitting the arrow button , very very useful Minn kota = overcorrects constanlty , when you hit spot lock it swings you wildly in the opposite direction. Noise Motorguide = Silent when it turns Minn Kota = so loud that you can hear it a mile away , whirrrrrrr.. whiirrrrr Turning speed motorguide - quick minn kota - turtle Foot pedal Minn Kota - useless, the speed adjust dial is also very useless and impossible to adjust with your foot motorguide- spring activated real feel pedal with great I am reposting this from a topic a year ago .below So for the past year I've been running a 80lb terrova iPilot trolling motor on my 2005 bass tracker pro team 175. Ive probably used it about 5 times a week for the past year. I have had more problems and issues with it than i can't count (at least one a week). · The motor that steers the terrova makes so much noise that you cringe every time the motor turns. I know for a fact that the noise from that has spooked the fish. Its loud, really loud. The worst thing is that at iCast 2014, Minn Kota had their new version of the same motor the "Ulterra" that had some cool features : automatic store and deploy , spot lock on the foot pedal, etc. BUT the d**n thing still made so much noise. I played with the thing for a long time and even the engineer made a comment that in their board room executives were commenting on the noise. so it doesn't look like they're going to fix the problem anytime soon. Sometimes I think people are in denial that they spent a good chunk of money on a product with poor product quality that might actually be hurting their chances catching fish. · For it to shut off when you stow it , there are 2 little magnets (tiny ones) that need to be aligned on the side of the handle release , otherwise it stays powered on. within like 4 months I couldn't get the magnets aligned so i would have to push the handle releasein just a little bit, or i would really have to pull hard against the arm release to get the thing to power off . well that must have weakened something else, because then i had the metal bolt break that connects the arm release to the side plate and when i was pulling my boat out of the water onto my trailer the entire shaft fell forward and deployed , dropping like a rock (cause its so d**n heavy) and In the process breaking a chunk of plastic off both the depth collar and the motor cradle · · then there have been the ghosts in the machine i call them. The one day the thing just randomly started turning left and kept spinning left over and over again for now reason. i had to cut the wires to the battery just to get it to stop before it destoryed itself. randomly jumping to full speed when its on spot lock for no reason. · The spot lock does an ok job , its less of a spot lock and will swing way too hard in this direction, so you then swing back hard in the opposite direction , then back the other way. really only when their is a good steady wind does it work good. if the wind is variable or its dead calm it sucks. · for 35% o the time ive had it The Ipilot remote itself does this thing where it will just turn off (even with new batteries) and to get it to turn back on I have to bang it against my leg 7 times or i have to rotate the batteries in it. This is really awesome when you turn the propellor on and then 20 seconds later you can't turn it off with the remote and you have turn it off on the foot pedal or bang the remote till it turns back on. It will do this 20 times a day or more. (it did it again today) · Do you need to put a transducer on your trolling motor ? forget about it, you can , but the problems you will incur are so frustrating that you might just blow a fuse yourself. The speaker for my hydrowave mounted on it became a daily chore of having to resplice it every day · So now i have a trolling motor that i have to manually disconnect it from the battery if i want to power it off at the end of the day, the depth collar and motor cradle are cracked so the shaft and motor and the electric housing don't lock fully together (there is about 1 inch the electric motor will go before the d**n thing will actually turn. when i want to stow it , i have such a long process of getting the thing up and out of the water that its maddening. Out of all the things that really sizzles my bacon the most , it’s the remote constantly having issues staying on. So many times that’s caused extreme headaches for me. But the noise made when that thing turns just sucks , period, there is no denying it.
  8. Only drawback with the rubber is going to be heat, its going to be alot hotter than carpet.
  9. if you think about it , you gas the motor , goes for a minute then bogs down and dies . once it dies those little bits fall back down , so you gas it up again and those bits clog it all up again , dies and repeats. if you have not changed out your main fuel line and your boat is 2005 and before , you need to now.
  10. ALL BOATS PRE-2005 have fuel lines that are not designed to handle ethanol blended fuel. Had this exact thing happen to me, most likely its the fuel line inner linning sloughing off and clogging up your filter. Remember that all boats PRE-2005 have fuel lines (specifically the one with the bulb attached to it) that are not at all rated for ethanol blended fuel. what happens (happened on mine) is that the the inner lining inside that main fuel line starts to break apart into little orange plastic bits of the inner lining from the ethanol blend. This will clog all of the lines up until your fuel filter. those little bits of inner lining have no clogged up your fuel filter to the point your motor will bog down cause no fuel is getting past it. It may work briefly for a minute or 2 and then wham it just bogs down and dies. Sometimes it may work all day and then all of sudden a little piece of inner lining plastic just clogs it all up again. easy fix and very cheap too. What you need to do is take apart all of the fuel lines leading up to the filter , take an air compressor and blow the crap out of the small lines inside the motor , replace the main line and squeze bulbs, replace the filter. ,. ALSO you may have to take apart your fuel mebrane and get bits out of that as well (delicaltely) DO NOT DO WHAT I DID AND PUT THE FUEL FILTER BACK ON BACKWARDS. that will only cause the little bits to clog up your carbs , which happened to me and wasnt that hard to fix. Bottom line is it aint a powerpack issue, it aint eletrical. its fuel .
  11. Whats up matt, i live in Ventura, where in So Cal do you fish and live at ?
  12. Wayne, technology has come a very long way in the past 15 years.
  13. I use the H1 , haven't upgraded to the H2. the biggest difference is the quality of the sound. H1 is 8-bit sound , while H2 is 16 bit sound. so H1 has the sound quality of a Original Nintendo and H2 has sound quality of super nintendo. good tip on hydrowave is don't use more than 1/2 volume on it , and best method is when you come into a new area , play most agressive sound first and then step it down from there.
  14. go with the ranger just because of the rough waters of your lake.. and never buy a boat that needs new carpet or anything to do with re-doing the interior.
  15. I had humminbird 999si and yes it beats it by a long distance. One reason the side Vision has 2 independent transducers combined together . U can adjust the angle of the sides can for shallow or deep water. So there are 2 channels of sidescan sonar and 2 channels of chirp sonar coming out of the side vision sonar cp200 transducer. U can use this with the doe vision transducer at the same time. Much better side scan and the downscan is the best. Plus if u have the cash or have an insane employee discount u can add a thermal fLir camera to the system for those foggy mornings
  16. Use googlemaps to find a spot where a creek or a slough would enter the ocean fish for perch there. Use camo gulp 2 inch sandworms on a #6 Baitholder hook , preferablly a matzuo red one. carolina rigged with a flurocarbon leader if your using spinning tackle with a 1/2 oz to 1 oz weight depending on the waves. fish at high tide or just vbefore and after high tide. Or fish off the rockjs at the bay entrance using a white big hammer 3/4 or 1/2 oz jig head, and a big hammer#63 colored swimbait (the swimbait that has green on top , bright yellow stripe in the middle and then white or clear on the bottom. get some hot sauce or some sort of scent cure stuff. toss it out , let it drop to the bottom, pause and then either reel it in extremly slow or work it up and then let it drop back to the bottom. Ive caught a small white seabass and a nice sand bass doing this at goleta beach this week.
  17. I second that notion, but would also consider looking at the A Series displays with the CPT200 side scan sonar pacakge. the package comes with 2 transducers , the sonar module , and the display. Raymarines side scan has specific features that allow it to be used in really shallow water. (sidenote) i work at FLIR, the company who owns raymarine.

  20. for pitching i like throwing 10lb power pro as backing on the reel , and spool 10lb Seagur Red label flurocarbon. the red label stuff works great , and is on par with the yellow label seagur.
  21. BIG cold green grapes, capri sun and i always have to have almonds since they are so healthy. FOODS banned on my boat: trail mix anything chocolate sunflower seeds pistachios
  22. Ken block isn't a driving legend. He never even cracked the top 10 in the World Rally Championship. Forget his tires, the man crashed at 4 races in a row. He doesn' t compete in the WRC anymore . he may have insane manuevers , but he isn't racing a rally car when it comes down to it.
  23. I have both a laguna and the new daiwa arid. buy the ARID , it casts a million miles farther than the laguna and is only 20 bucks more. i love my laguna, ive used the thing in saltwater and it holds up great and casts a mile. but overall get the arid.
