I surf fish every day here in california cause i live 5 minutes from the ocean, but im from back east. Nothing in the world works better for shore fishing than 2 inch GULP Sandworms in Camoflague or Blood Red colors carolina rigged with a size 4 Red Matzuo Baitholder hook. it has to be that exact red hook in that exact brand. Gulp sandworms work better than bait or real sandworms /bloodworms. See that attached picture on how to rig the sandworm (in the pic its the wrong color and wrong hook , but everything else is correct). I have caught multiple Halibut, Barred Surf Perch, Silver Perch, Sand Bass, Rock Bass, Shovelnose guitarfish (its a sharklike Ray) , Cabezon, White Croaker, Bonita, Mackeral , Corbina, Jack smelt , and White Seabass from the shore or rocks only using gulp sandworms and only in the past 16 months since i started surf fishing. Don't know what it is about them but we call them "Perch Crack" out here. If you want get a thing of "Hot sauce" fish attractant and that works great too. dont need anything but those and your are good

I just plopped down money for 3 megabass rods (Megabass F4-610XDti Elseil big taper series, the Black Jungle punching swimbait , and a super sexy 2014 Evolution Expada , and a Megabass Zonda Rosso , Megabass LIN , and a Daiwa 103 (the new one) to go with those 3 rods respectively. yeah sure you can probably get by without plopping money down , but when i bought my first megabass rod (a XX4 711 ) i was like , "DAMMIT, im hooked now. cant go back. i mean come on look at the LIN reel, its d**n sexy.

pflueger , quantam , bass pro shops, and browning reels are all made in the same factory in china FYI. Lews sucks , they look cool but they don't last and cast for diddily . Shimano makes the best spinning reels, but their bait casters are the pits , the currado ? what a POS Daiwa, the best hands down, period , they willl outcast any other reel on the market period. Megabass , they are just soupoed up lighter Daiwas, and i love them. especially the bigger LIN series for swimbaits and alabama rigs Abu Garcia is a close second place behind daiwa.

Hey some people fish in clear lakes in calfironia where if you're not using 10lb or less flurocarbon , youre not catching anything. Like i said i fished both , my friends have been on my boat with both, and motorguide destorys XI5 my buddies agree too. oh yeah you know what sucks? when you want to change your anchor position on the Minnkota , vs the motorguide where i can press down on the remote , and then left on the remote it and it will move my anchor position 5 feet backwards and 5 feet left you can adjust your anchor postion in 5 foot increments without ever having to turn off anchor mode.

dont waste your time ocean fishing? with el nino people have been catching Marlin (big ones ) less than a mile offshore. Go up to Dana Point harbor and go north for some marlin or tuna

Piru ramp is open, my suspension is up November 10th. so there is that. the lopez ramp is still open but barely. lots of nice rocky structure at lopez , but not lots of bass. sure are a lot of blue gill though. Ive tried Castaic, pyramid, lopez, Castaic lagoon, and none of them even come close to Casitas. People just have no idea how good casitas is. There are lakes that allow water skiing and jet skis , and then there are lakes that don't . Casitas doesn't , pyramid, Castaic, lopez do; and that makes a difference. I saw bass on my graph that day, but they were suspended off drop offs spooked by the jet skis. lopez could be a killer lake, just needs more baitfish

I think that for hook, i prefer the mustad double wide drop shot hooks. I only use tungsten (Vike is cheapest, especially when you order in bulk from china) flurocarbon 8lbs or less, i use finesse spinning rigs many times, and there are times where i pitch it like a jig using 1/2 oz baits. distance? honestly i think many people put too much distance between the the weight and the hook. I prefer 10 inches or less . Baits: always nose hooked roboworm 4 or 6 inch (hologram shad, aaron's pro magic 2 ), Reins bubbling shaker, Missle bait fuse 4.4 craw if you're fishing saltwater, using gulp sandworms drop shotting works great too.

If i fished casitas from shore, i would be cited for trespassing again. Im still not allowed back in that lake till at least november 10th, its killing me, so tired of catching surf perch . you will know when im back , say hi to doug for me , love that guy

Ok, so it hasn't passed the house or the senate. it was introduced in the senate in July, that's just introduced, then it was recently heard by a committee 3 weeks ago. thats it, it won't pass the senate , and definitley won't pass the house. Don't forget the republicans hold a super majority over the house and the senate and would never let this drought bill pass. A senate bill gets introduced, then it must go to committee , then it must pass a vote in the comittee, then it goes for a vote in the senate, if it passes the vote it goes over to the house , where it goes to committee , must be passed by vote in committee, then it goes to the house for a vote, then if it passes it has to go to a conference committee where the house and the senate have to agree on all of the amendements before it goes to the president. also the repulbicans passed their own version in the house earlier in 2015, which also won't go anywhere , this bill is just a reaction to that bill https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/114/s1894 for more info
