  1. Go to tackle warehouses site, and go to the "apparel" and then "sun protection" page. my expereince from fishing in sunny souther california all year long would tell you this. the best? any of the simms *** longsleeve shirts. any of the simms sun stuff is amazing. i love the arm sleeves they make . next i would say aftco, and then columbia. the missle bait face shield is amaizing too
  2. Probably already covered in a thread somewhere, but any suggestions on good external paint for an aluminum boat that aint rustoleum? ive already done the prep work, just looking for some thoughts on a good brand, money not an issue. I looked into those specialty paints they make for airboats, problem with those is they are too slick for my boat, as i don't want it falling off my trailer (which will happen with some of those) .
  3. I second that , contact rich tauber , his website is richtauberfishing *
  4. i ran a 998 bird on my 2005 pro team 175, youll be fine
  5. could be the driveshaft, could be a number of different things , Sounds like the gearcase is fine. Did you mix oil with the gasoline, or does the motor have a functioning oil injection system? Remove spark plugs and spray motor with penetrating oil. Maybe she will unseize. Are you trying to turn flywheel by hand?or is starter not engaging?Did you blow bluish smoke?
  6. my advice to you is to get a transmission cooler
  7. look at using 2 part marine foam to direct the water to where you want it to go
  8. Its the oil sensor in the tank like the man says above. i have a 2005 50HP mercury 2 stroke , same problem. just disconnect the wires for it. and when you do important thing to note. on your motor , it may seem like you have less than a 1/4 tank left of oil left, because yo ucan stil see oil in the little visual gauge. thats deceiving, if you hit a 1/4 tank of oil , put more in period.
  9. 37 days straight (it was october -early november) when i first got my boat and first started fishing lake casitas. I could slay the potomac river , lake anne, and most any other mid-atlantic pond or lake , but i'd never had this happen. Worst yet, was i had a fish finder , i could see the d**n fish but i couldn't catch not a single one, and they're were lots. around day 33 , i completly broke down , and on day 37 i caught a fish.
  10. best way to remove glue is go to lowes and get this stuff called "jasco paint remover " in a can or in a gallon. get an oscilatting rotary tool from harbor freight or wherever and get the scraper blade attachment (which is also really good for removing carpet to ) spray glue, use scraper , comes right up with supreme ease.
  11. I own a tracker 175 , go with the xpress , trust me go with the xpress . best place to buy boats is in texas
  12. d**n , there is the best realistic craw looking bait period, but they are always sold out or dont have enough supply so for once i can't disclose
  13. need a photo to better understand the issue
  14. drilling holes in the hull seems like a worse idea than removing the decking and replacing that.
  15. At least your not doing an aluminum boat recarpet. for your boat go with the 24 oz carpet . here is a few things you will need if you want to get it done quick . some of this may apply to aluminum. 1. Angle Grinder 4.5 inch with some 36 grit flap wheels and a polycarbide wheel ( I've tried out 4 or 5 different angle grinders and i gotta say the bosch makes the best one) . 2. an osicilatting tool with a scraper attachment (super awesome for taking off the glue ) 3. Jasco Paint remover -lowes carries it- don't use goo off or anything else, this stuff is the best. 4. . lots of big clamps best fastest way i found the remove the glue is to spray or brush on some Jasco paint remover, let it sit for 15 minutes and then use the oscialting tool with the scraper to remove the glue and it comes right up. then use the angle grinder to remove any glue thats left. thats the hardest part. at least you don't have a bass tracker which mine is in a million pieces right now removing all the glue
  16. I do it all the time , i just run the line through the weight around 3 times then tie an overhand not at the top
  17. Could be that you're foam is water logged underneath your deck , thats bad , most likely you have water that has soaked is now stuck in the bottom of your boat where it can't be drained via a pump , and can only be taken care of by ripping out your deck , and ripping out the old foam and then replacing it.
  18. Any 1991 Johnson or Evinrude , pretty much any johnson or evinrude id stay away from
  19. buy daiwa new, with the tension control knob and backlash knob too, and be happy as you don't want a Lews , Okuma, Shimano or anything else
  20. thats the thing about casitas , its such a hard lake cause the pattern changes every 2 weeks. PM me and ill tell you what to do
  21. Try having to fish against those guys in your local tournaments on the weekends. I have , they're Lake Casitas masters. Both of them are insanely good fisherman . Matt Newman owns IROD fishing and is a stick. If you have ever seen the old "big bait posse videos " with the giant swimbaits from 2008, that was him too.
  22. Ok then , thanks for the input , and if you think of anything else please post it cause alot of these thoughts and ideas are going straight up to my CEO.
  23. Dragonfly , and thats not just because im an accountant at FLIR who owns raymarine
  24. sounds like you got a great bargain there chief. Mercury has this thing with the low oil sensor , mine did the same thing, and i just disconnected it.
