  1. I dont know if its called Millspond Dam,we fish the Hollis stretch off rt130. Country Pond is connected to Powwow if its the one in Newton, there's some good fishing there.I,m probably 30minutes down 111 from Windham. It would be fun to get some of the NewEngland folks together sometime in the Spring or whenever to have a mini tournement, call it that anyway..just meet and do some fishing.
  2. I,m in NH.the seacoast area.I fish Powwow river pond, and Kingston lake quite a bit. My bro. lives out by Nashua so we fish the Merrimac and Nashua rivers and a few ponds out his way. Tactics wise I use a lot of soft plastics probably have my best luck with them,(senkos, fat ikas, tubes).I still use all the other stuff,(spinnerbaits, cranks, topwater, etc) I think I catch the most fish on plastics. Where you at?
  3. My first car was my dads 71 Dodge Polara, big tank..then I got a 73or4 Camaro not a good one a 350,auto trans car. Both of those were done in a few months. Then I got a 74 ,225slantsix Plymouth Valiant,Great car, I drove that car for more than ten years, when everyones car was broke that ran.I'd still have it if I didnt total it :'(
  4. Blues all kinds but I love the Texas swing and Westcoast swing styles. Horns,sax,B-3,full band stuff 8-)
  5. Thanks, good info.I dont know why I didnt click yuor link before 8-)..One quick question,Is the split grip done primarily for weight reduction and or balancing? Buy the way the flaming looks super
  6. I'm thinking about having a friend build a rod for me. I was planing on a 6'6" mh, fast or medium fast (baitcasting)StCroix Legend blank.I spose I could just get all the same components that come on a store bought StCroix but I could just buy the rod built and save money..what would you choose for guides ,reel seat,handles,etc..The guy does a nice job on the wraps with nice patterns.I,ve seen some of his work. I dont want to go over board just something a little differant.
  7. I aint no pro,but if the bristles are really stiff i'll thin the bristles out . I allways fan them out and trim them in a 1/4 circle to the hook.
  8. Yeah,I'm sure its just conditioned cuz it gets fed.But its much more fun to think of him as Bubba the friendly bass. He will swim around my buddy and bump into his legs if he's standing in the water. thats a little odd :-? He still has to remember through the winter, this place is in Maine it freezes over,he wont see anyone for months,ya think it would forget.. ;D
  9. Some people were just born to make the really hard decissions. :-/
  10. I guess this is a twist on the "do bass know"thread.I've allways been under the assumtion that bass have a very short memory. Well a friend of mine has a "pet bass" they call him Bubba. He hangs around the dock at their camp, and has for the last few years. When you step out on the deck the bass shows up and stares up at you on the deck,my buddy points over to the boat dock and the fish swims under it over to a shallow area with less than a foot of water, where he hand feeds it night crawlers. I didnt believe it myself till I saw it,its the strangest thing :-? Someone caught it fishing around their dock, his wife saw them and talked them into letting it go,they weighed it and its just over 6lbs. Crazy huh..
  11. A buddy dropped his rod off the boat jigging for cod ,and I caught that. I never caught one in fresh water, tried and tried to catch one of mine that fell off the boat,no luck :

  13. If the wind is pushin baitfish, and you locate them your golden. If its gusty and such it can s@#$ to cast and hold your boat but its worth it generally in the end. Hey ya could be home mowin the lawn
  14. I was watching In-fisherman last night and they were using this approach for smallies. They tied on a Skitter-pop (hookless I think?) about a three foot leader tied to the back with a wacky rigged plastic.Using the Skitter-pop as a float/attractor ,in an open water situation over baitfish. Looked like something differant to try, has any one tried this? 8-)
  15. I get most everything at Northern bass supply. The biggest reason being, that I live about 10minutes from the place. They run the place kinda like the old Service Merchndise,ya walk around and fill out a slip of paper for the stuff your gonna buy. I think they probably do 80% of their business online.
  16. I'm from Ma. originally,Ive lived in NH. the last 20years.Only about an hour as the crow flys from where I grew up.I bass fish mostly nowadays, but use to ocean fish much more ,I still striper fish but havnt been out on the ocean in quite some time.
  17. I work in a construction trade,I stop any time I have a free moment and cast in,The fishing rods are allways in my truck
  18. The pond is on private property,so other folks are not an issue 8-) .This is new,the population of mature bass is very small. We would like to see more(bass) but not enough to stunt the fish in the pond.I guess next year will really tell the tale as to how many of the young survive, but Its good to learn things ahead of time so you might know what to expect.
  19. This has probably been covered but anyway, Lets say you have a small pond,it has a nice deep spot 12+feet,good vegitation but not choked at all (a mass of a kind of thick muck that floats around the middle)I'll do more research on that. A big frog population, some salamanders, bugs, and several sunturtles.Lets say for instance you introduced bass to this pond, they thrive on froggys and such, and this year they produce a small litter of little bass.I know that bass are canibalistic and will eat many of the young, probably not a bad thing. The Question is how can you maintain the population and size of the fish in the pond,so you dont end-up with a small pond with a bunch of small fish?
  20. A friend of my fathers had a good size fishing boat,he would take people out fishin for haddock, cod, flounder, etc. My dad took me with him when I was pretty young to help work on the boat, with his friend and his buddys son who was my age. I have good memorys from those days,I learned to clean fish good,my dads friends son and I would fillet fish for quarters on the ride back Anyway I've allways fished since back then.My dad passed away 18years ago and I love those memorys 8-)
  21. I was thinkin about fishin tonight,We had some pretty intense lightning happining,I didnt go but I,ve had some really good luck just before storms. The fish are in the summer pattern in my local fishin hole, that means boat or no fish.
  22. I like blow downs and stumpy type structure, and almost any sort of cover that boarders moving water ie;weed lines ,points, rocks,docks,etc..
  23. I wear sunglasses,My eyes are light sensative(from too much welding flash),the doc said wear good quality glass lens sunglasses. So I always have. Anyway I wont buy expenesive fishing glasses cuz they get banged up and ya drop em off the boat or whatever.I recently got a pair of PolarEyes, there like 40-45 bucks,I bought a discontinued pair for $25, they are super sunglasses.I like them better than my RayBans. The ones that the fisherman buy at the tackle shop are the big ones with the side protectors and they will fit over your prescription glasses. The stlye they stopped sellin is the wraparond regular sunglass look. For a plastic lens thease are not bad even at 40bucks 8-)
  24. Those house flea an roach bombs will work for yellow jackets,I dont know that it kills them right away but they dont like it so they leave.I always get them in the soffets of my house an the guy at the feed store said to use them,I just wait till dark an shove one in the vent. Now weather one would harm the finish on your boat I dont know,My brother and I killed some on his boat with JetBomb (the long stream bee killer). That did dull the finish but it buffed out.
  25. If ya have enough for coolbeer or gutbeer or anything like that.Maybe just BEER that says it all 8-)
