  1. Congrats! The wait would drive me crazy.
  2. Another vote for the beetle spin or something along those lines. For me, if I don’t know if the pond has fish I’m gonna throw that or an in-line spinner like a bang tail to find out. Other suggestions above good as well. Hopefully the reason there aren’t any no fishing signs isn’t because there are no fish in it.
  3. Yes in my opinion. I love a jig in any water clarity. Typically in a brown, green, and orange combination. I’ll go to more blue/black in dirtier water and baitfish colors if it’s a swim jig. If you’re fishing CA that’s water I have no experience with though. Give a jig a shot, don’t get discouraged if it doesn’t pay off right away. Search on here. Tons of great info. For me personally it’s something I just didn’t fish for a lot of years for a few reasons. Then I committed to learning it. I’m still no jig fishing pro but I’m sure glad I added it to the wheelhouse.
  4. So this issue started immediately after you replaced the gauges? You’re going to have to start figuring out where the power is coming from. I’d start with everything in the off position then go to work with the meter at the gauges. If you can figure out which wire feeds the console from the ignition switch, remove it from the switch (might be purple). If everything is still on I would think there is a constant hot in contact with the wire from the ignition switch somewhere. While you’re at that figure out what wire is the 12v supply to the ignition. Remove it and check continuity between that terminal and the terminal the wire to the console was on. Make sure you don’t have voltage between the two before you check continuity. With the switch in the off position those two terminals should read open. Turn the switch on and the should read closed.
  5. Congrats on the PB! Nice fish.
  6. To me it’s a weedeater and it’s one of my least favorite tools to operate. On my fence rows it should be called a poison ivy shrapnel distributor. I’ve heard them called weed weed eaters, weed whackers, and even string trimmers around here.
  7. I don’t envy you. I had wiring issues late last year and it was a real treat to deal with. Had a lot of help on here and spent a great deal of time physically working on it. Try to be systematic in the process of elimination. I sometimes struggle with that these days. You said this just started so what would typically come on if you turned the key on but left the main switch OFF?
  8. Might try soft plastics closer to the top. Fluke, trickworm, etc.
  9. As @A-Jay suggested, check the latch seals. I have a 98 Stratos and all my compartments stay dry excluding when I’ve had a loose latch. I do occasionally get moisture/condensation in compartments if there is water in the bilge for an extended period of time. I don’t think that’s what you’re describing though. With as new a boat as you have I’d bring up your concerns to the dealer.
  10. Hopefully way2slow will be along shortly with solid advice. Kind of sounds like maybe you sucked something up into the carb. If it were mine I’d probably take a fuel sample from close to the carb to see how it looks. I’m sure this isn’t always the case, but the couple times I’ve had a line deteriorate internally I could see it in the fuel. Should also show you water if present. If that’s good I would think maybe time for a carb cleaning.
  11. I don’t have any information but I have heard that they were bought also. I can’t find any info on by whom or even on an actual sale though. Hopefully nothing gets discontinued regardless. Not being able to get flukes or trick worms would suck.
  12. If you bounce on the outboard and the transom is stable and you do all the kind of standard checks for the transom being structurally sound, those cracks would not be a deal breaker for me.
  13. @BigMinnow I usually cast to or past a pretty specific target then do everything I can to keep it right on that target for as long as possible. Just a little drag then let it sit a second. Sometimes I’ll kind of swim it and twitch the rod if it’s in the grass. Most of my fish with the senko come on the fall and pretty frequently as it’s falling from the cast.
  14. Yeah I see what your saying about tilting the motor up too far. My luck I’d forget about it and send it into the generator. I hear you on the HB stuff. I’ve had some stuff from there that was ok though. One of the electricians I use has one of those he uses when he does a residential service change out to run the customers fridge and such while the service is down. He said he’s had good luck out of it. I’ve been thinking about buying one myself.
  15. It’s amazing to me how quiet those inverter generators are.
  16. Great point. No matter how accurate your casts, no matter how good your bait/lure choice, and no matter how perfect your presentation, if there are no fish there it’s just casting practice.
  17. Silicone would be ok. Just use a decent one. I’d personally use the 3m 4200. The 5200 will definitely do the job but is considered permanent (as in not able to be removed). Whether that’s actually true I can’t say as I’ve never had to take something apart where 5200 was used.
  18. ^What @Catt said. It’s definitely not my favorite way to fish but given the scenario you described it might be your best bet. I’ve had luck fishing it painfully slow with finicky or heavily pressured fish. It’s all I’ve caught them on the last few times out actually and its for sure not my strong point. If you try it make sure to really watch your line for movement. In my limited experience with it I’ve “seen” more bites than I’ve actually felt.
  19. That was a nail biter.
  20. I saw that. Sad. Maybe I’m just paying more attention but it seems like there have been more accidents the last few years. Sounded like it was still under investigation. I haven’t seen any details yet.
  21. Sounds like a successful maiden voyage. Count your blessings. My wife prefers boating to fishing and prefers to run around at max speed. By run around i mean literally just run all over the place. I tried to explain that wide open she couldn’t pour gas out of a can faster than the ob is burning it but she doesn’t seem to care. Edit: To be fair sometimes I just like to run around wide open as well.
  22. T rigged and usually weighted. Generally hop it off the bottom. Sometimes slow drag it, on occasion swim it. Every now and then go weightless and fish it kind of shallow but not on top. Once in a blue moon I’ll swim a 10” ribbon tail weightless on the surface.
  23. D bomb. Rage craw. @12poundbass I’ve not had that issue. I’m using a Gamakatsu I believe 3/0 EWG hook. (Im the worlds worst for knowing what size hook I’m using). I’m typically not dragging through a lot of vegetation though. That might be the dif.
  24. No doubt. My best 5 over the last 30 yrs don’t equal that.
