Since I've spent the last 6 hours running one of these out the yard. I'm curious what yall call one of these, in yalls area. Down here in Bama I've always heard them called a Weedeater. So what's the name in Yalls areas???

Weedeater.

Kinda like how many know what a hosepipe is.   Years back while I was in the AF and stationed in VA, a guy that worked with me went to Fort Gordon in Augusta GA for a school.  He came back asking who knew what it was.  At Fort Gordon was the first time he had ever heard of one and didn't know what it was.

That's what I call it up here in the 'Nord Country' though some around here call it a 'Weed Wacker'.

Definitely Wacker not eater

Weed Eater, weed wacker, or string trimmer.

I’m not even sure. I seem to call it a weed wacker, weed eater and weed trimmer interchangeably

That there buddy is the Binford 5000 XT Ground Pounder 2 and sometimes hovercraft.... Strap-in

To me it’s a weedeater and it’s one of my least favorite tools to operate. On my fence rows it should be called a poison ivy shrapnel distributor. I’ve heard them called weed weed eaters, weed whackers, and even string trimmers around here.

Weed eater

How about my fellow northern folk.... snow blower or snow thrower? I call it a snow blower

Snow machine or a snowmobile? Snowmobile here in Michigan, but in Alaska and I believe Canada they call it a snow machine.

snow blower and snowmobile

If somebody called it a snow machine I'd asked if they meant snowmobile or snow blower...the are both snow machines after all

Weed Eater is a brand name but people use it as a name for all string trimmers.  Just like everyone insists that they are always throwing a Chatterbait regardless of the brand name of the vibrating jig they are using.  That has to aggravate the other manufacturers when they see a photo posted of someone holding a 10lb-er with their bladed jig hanging out of the mouth and the guy posting saying that he caught it on a "Chatterbait".   LOL

I vote weed wacker.

When people say a “string trimmer” it makes me ?. It’s not hair.

I say weed eater cause my parents did. That was the brand they had for years.

Absolutely, just like Xerox and Kleenex.

There was a time back home where soda pop was called Coke. A conversation could go like this:

Sam: “Would you like a coke?

Steve: “Sure!”

Sam: “What kind?”

Steve: “7up.”

Sam: “Okay. Here you go.”

I kid you not ??

I usually say weed eater but I’ll WHACK this accursed tool every time the line jams (won’t pan out line) or runs out when I only have about 2’ worth of lawn to do.

If you want to get fancy, it's a string trimmer, but no need to get too fancy.

That's a weed whacker.

Whacker with an "h"

Wacker = wacky = wacko = crazy

That time was yesterday...in the south everything’s a coke.

It’s a weed eater and when your using it you’re weed eating.

Me:  I mowed the yard.

Wife: Did you weed eat?

In these parts the weeds get the same treatment as mob informants...they get whacked!
