  1. That's a bubble on the water.
  2. It's 100% a gizzard Shad. I tied on a lipless crank after the one on the Shad rap and went to work yo-yoing it in the school haha. There were half eaten ones all over the ice shelves from otters
  3. Fished a river for a few hours from my kayak today, I tried a number of baits that usually work there, but I don't think I was there during the "feeding window". Usually 2 hours of good fishing this time of year before they quit completely, it's definitely hit-or-miss. Ended up with one dink on a float-n-fly and one pickup on a shakey head that pulled the bait down on the hook when I set it. Abrasions from the teeth went all the way up the bait to right before the hook. "caught" 4 of these stupid things
  4. Definitely a large population of bass there but they get NO REST. Not even in the winter.
  5. Swimmin fluke jr pairs up nicely with a strike king swim jig
  6. The hard freeze means I get to actually hunt some ducks. They leave the neighborhood/park lakes and go to the river. In 4 hunts my brothers and I have gotten 14 mallards and 10 geese. This wouldn't be much for most places but it's pretty incredible for VA. I'm pretty done with trying to shoot a gun covered in ice and cuts on my fingers from where they freeze to everything so I think this will wrap up my duckin' for the season. Warming trend on the way so the geese will be in trouble as usual if I decide not to fish!
  7. And lizards, I hate lizards with a passion. Love a baby brush hog though
  8. #7 shad rap... No I did not catch it when you're supposed to use them in March when the water was 45 degrees or in December when everything was slowing down, I caught the darn thing in the middle of the day in July. (not complaining)
  9. I have definitely caught fish on them, but aside from a small window in pre spawn, I never really do much with lipless crankbaits.
  10. I catch most of mine on a t-rigged finesse worm or 4" senko with a 1/16 or 1/8oz bullet weight, but my favorite way is to catch them on an s-waver or a small flipping jig. The big smallies in the river I fish act like largemouth, they don't mess with crayfish, gizzard Shad in the 5-8" range are their preferred food.
  11. Girls who make fishing channels who don't know anything about fishing but get tons of views/subscribers because they are attractive ...
  12. My mom watches Dr. Oz......He's in a league of his own
  13. I lost a $40 spro bbz 8" that had only landed 2 fish. I thought it was a sand/mud bottom so I took my cast net back later that day to try and get it. Nope, there were rocks down there, and a $40 swimbait rescue mission turned into a $60 cast net sacrifice without finding the bait either.
  14. My dad has a tray of those hooks from who knows when sitting in our basement. I still haven't found a way to rig anything on them
  15. It's a pretty magical place.
  16. "Power finesse fishing" is all I do unless I'm fishing COLD water. I fish it just like I'm flipping a jig. Toss it out, let it fall, shake it, pick it up and let it fall once more, REPEAT. Tons and tons of fish on a DS this way.
  17. I need to step up my cold water jerkbait game. Shad Rap, blade, finesse, and jig I can catch them, but I just haven't figured out the jerkbait
  18. Went to a fishing expo today...two packs of keitech fat 4.8" $5 each, clone gills and shadalicious $3 each, sebile swimmers $4 each, live target herring wake baits $4 each, a pointer for $15, and 10 packs of Nikko Worms for $50. The Nikko worms are a Japanese bait and they are a tad pricy at $6 for 4 worms. Greatest plastic I've ever used, they are elastic (30 fish at least per bait) and 3/4 of the bait is an air chamber so they float like nobody's business. It's scary how effective they are on a shakey head.

  21. And a big 'ol head. It's weird because when you catch them while they are feeding on baitfish, they will have huge guts but no bulk to the rest of their body (the opposite of the fish that @brgbassmaster is catching right now). Always swimmin'
