I never have fished jigs. I have been into bass fishing for 5 years now and never caught a jig fish and hardly ever fish them. Some of my questions are: when do I fish all the types of jigs? What type of structure? What colors are best? How should I fish them? Whats good for my condition?(early summer, mid 80s) what other things could you tell me I should know?

What do I need to use? I am gonna fish tonight.

I'm a big striper fishermen even more than bass and I use ratltrap and the red eye shads. Most luck comes from a ratltrap.

I can relate to this. My grandpa died when I was 6. He was the best guide ever on lake Hartwell. He was the best man I ever met. I never got to fish with him too much but one of my favorite memories was when I was 3 me and him went down to the lake and we were carp fishing I believe and I fell in the lake. From then on we had a rope across the front of the dock. If could have one day with him we would go striper fishing. I bet he would be so proud if me and how I have picked up fishing as my hobby and passion. Although he did hated "them green fish" and "bass fishermen especially from North Carolina cause they couldn't drive". I miss him so much.

Academy was my go to bait place. I soon got a cableas. After using their products for long time I can say they are pretty darn good all around. I bought almost every product they have. I even have a few of their rod and reel combos. I love their products.

H2O Express 7' Medium-Light I use it for all weighted head baits (spinner baits, jigs, chatterbait, buzz baits, and even my striper fishing buck tails.)

Most (meaning 80%) of the time I use hollow body. The brands I use are spro and booyah at least what I used last year. If it's solid it's the zoom frogs.

I have both brands and I have tried both. My opinion is I like costas much better. My eyes are sensitive to sun. I wore Oakley for 3 months before getting my Costas. After I got my costas I left the oKleys in my boat as a back up because costas were better for my sensitive eyes and I think they are better as far as seeing in water and eye protection.

Anyone know what they are biting in Hartwell? I have been catching largemouth on swim jigs and some topwater. Know any other baits to fish with? I'm catching about 20 a day but want more variety of baits.

What lakes are you gonna be fishing? I'm from Greenville. I fish Hartwell and some local ponds. I have access to lots if info because I know guides and local fishermen for about every major SC lake. I could help with baits if you need any help let me know.

Don't go to the tackle stores. I went when I couldn't fish in the winter and spent a fortune. For some odd reason I always go to the store and buy fishing stuff when I can't fish.
