  1. I'm selling my 14' old town canoe for a smaller, more manageable, sit on top kayak. Has anyone had trouble fishing from it, like maybe spooking fish? Sometimes I feel like my casts aren't as far as from where I'm standing on the bank and I feel I'm just spooking the crap out of the fish in the area. Also, has anyone developed any good techniques or strategies for fishing slower finesse baits? When I tried in the canoe, I would get aggravated and just pull off to a clearing on the bank and fish for a little while, then paddle to a new spot. I've also tried pulling up on the bank and try to secure the canoe and cast around from there.
  2. I use the stren clear blue and never had a problem
  3. If thats the same gortex they issued me in the service then it definitely works
  4. it looks like you really like powerbait
  5. I like the 20 year warranty that comes with it and I'm ready to upgrade to a good all around multi-purpose rod i feel the duckett rod might fit that. Im not trying to fit it technique specific so is this a good option for different applications?
  6. Im looking to purchase a new rod for the upcoming season and I'm looking at a duckett micro magic 6' 9" MH being I fish from the bank the size will make it easier to fish in and around trees and what have you. I use mono a lot has anyone experienced any problems with the micro guides?
  7. have any of you fished lake unicoi in helen? I believe they have trout up there but, last time I was camping there our dog ran a skunk in our tent and things ended early.
  8. Nice fish guys, there is nothing like seeing that frog in there mouth I can't wait for the frog action to pick up
  9. This past summer I experimented with different colored frogs. I found one that works for a specific lake. Do you guys have any tips for choosing frog colors with different light and water clarity conditions? For some reason i got this idea in my head that maybe bass will avoid a certain color of frog as if it were poisonous, is this possible? The frog pictured below is called a CorroBoree frog and its a poisonous frog also it looks similar to one of KVD's sexy frog's. Any Ideas?
  10. yeah man snow in georgia its crazy we got a few inches here
  11. I also live in GA I've caught a bass earlier this month in a small pond on a drop shot setup using a cheap 97 cent pack of crappie tubes from wal-mart. Ive also caught one in the river off a suspending jerk bait, as you've noticed its been very cold this month and both fish were caught on very cold afternoons.
  12. I think this whole braid and leader stuff is a fad, they're selling it and your buying it
  13. What I've never understood is why use braid if your just going to tie on an 8ft flouro leader, that leader is what will be in contact with whatever line cutting hazard is in the water so why spool up braid in the first place? Also has anyone been experiencing braid cutting into your rod guides? I've been really considering braid but I would hate to ruin an expensive rod , I think maybe this whole super line thing is over my head
  14. looks like he has the gift that keeps on giving... Herpes!

  17. yeah the filming was shotty i was worried about getting this thing back in the water, he was bleeding all over the place and I'm sure he was in shock when he felt that stiff breeze.
  18. I left to go fishing around noon today. It was cold outside, but I thought it would be a good day to try out some retrieve cadences in hopes of catching a hybrid on a hard body jerk bait. When he bit he went to the rocks I just tired him out in the swift water and secured him at the bank.
  19. same thing down here i went down to lake oliver yesterday and it was muddy stained waters didn't catch anything. I might hit up goat rock dam to check out the striper action tomorrow.
  20. If your hooks are facing down you could always use a pair of pliers and bend them slightly upward to better expose your hooks, it always works for me. I like the mann's super frog in cypress.
  21. I saw some of the pictures you put up of those stripers, man they hit so hard i love em
  22. shoot yeah man i know guys that will swim across the river with rods and reels under the dam to catch those monsters and sell them locally, I guess people eat them. I caught one on a small swim bait I just shook him off the hook.
  23. Man i tear them up with this guy my supply is getting low I've been to BPS, dicks, academy, walmart, K mart nothing. Maybe one will show up in one of those mystery tackles boxes lol
