Which Phenix Rod?
I'm trying to decide between the recon2 713 or the m1 7'2" ml. Both are comparable in price. I need a finesse rod for my pxl r. I want to get this during the sales so I need some help. Thanks.

Braid Vs Fluorocarbon Casting
As far as the OP's question, I use braid with various leaders. Most of my casting reels have 30lb pp or super slick and then depending on the technique I'll use fluoro or copoly in 6-20lb test. I find it a simpler system. That being said, next year I'm going to give straight fluoro a try on a couple of weightless plastic combos because I want to see the benefits of the slack line sensitivity. One thing I've learned over the years is to take advice from experienced people because they might be on to something. My biggest issue with fluoro has been the memory so I got some kvd line and lure and sniper.

I Need Help Picking A Baitcasting Reel For $200 Or Under
All great options. For new reels the $200 price range is a quality reel you can't lose with. For me, I'm looking on the flea market and other forums for a used shimano or daiwa. You can get a $400 reel for $200 that sometimes comes with upgraded bearings, drag and handles.

What Reel Is It That You Are Looking To Pick Up During This Offseason?
Are you the one that outbid me last night on ebay? Lol, I'm glad I didn't win it because I really didn't need it...I just lusted it. I need to be done for a while. In the past 4 months I got: 2 tdz r+, pxl r, curado 51e, curado I, scorpion xt, 2 tdz hl and my most recent acquisition a steez 103hla. The only thing I need now is a finesse rod. I'm actually trying to figure out what to sell because my goal is to narrow it down to 6 or 7 casting combos.

What # Test Braid For Cranking?
I figure something needs to act like a shock absorber. Either the line, rod or drag. I use #30 pp w/ fluoro leader and an s-glass rod.

Tried Out My New Kistler Rods Today... Love 'em! :-)
I'm curious about the mh finesse klx rod. What sort of baits and weights did you use on it? Are you using a finesse reel with it and if so did you test the lower limits of the rod?

Daiwa T3 Ballistic Baitcaster Reels
I got one of the 8.1's for $110 and was totally happy throwing stuff 1/4oz and up. Pitching was a little tricky, but casting was awesome. I noticed the retrieve was a little rough so I replaced a bushing in the drive shaft with a bearing for like $4 and that smoothed it out dramatically. I eventually bought a 1016 spool for it because I wanted to throw some lighter stuff and this transformed the reel into a pitching/casting machine. In retrospect, I would've just got the t3 instead, but if I was just using it for t rigs and jigs 1/4 plus then the ballistic was fine for me. I love the braking system and the low profile is so comfortable to palm. Some people don't like the t wing sytem but I actually do. I like to engage the spool with one hand after casting or pitching.

Braid Fishermen, Do You Ever Go Back To Mono?
The only thing I use mono for is backing and as a leader for topwater. I use braid w/ fluoro leaders for almost everything and straight fluoro for everything else. I don't care for the stretch and want to maximize the sensitivity of the rods by using braid and fluoro. Mono just doesn't do it for me.

Medium Action Casting Rod For Texas Rigs/hardheads
I'm starting to prefer lighter rods for this type of presentation. M/F will be perfect.

Black Cumara Rods?
Yes, the 7'2" medium is what I was thinking. Sounds like I need to find a good ml for a reasonable price. Thanks.

Black Cumara Rods?
How does the previous model compare to the newer red cumara? How good is the sensitivity and balance on the black one? Are they similar to the crucial? I'm thinking about a medium for some lighter finesse type stuff like bottom contact and plastics (just picked up a pixy that needs a home). Thanks for any help.

What Do You Look For In A Reel?
1. LH 2. prefer daiwa or shimano 3. on sale or used 4. comfortable to palm, fairly light 5. if used, I don't mind some rash because I want to fish it not put it on a shelf and you get better deals on a reel that may have retailed for over $400 for less than half the price (love these deals). 6. reels that stand the test of time and have good reviews with plenty of after market parts available (tdz, 51e, alphas, sol etc)

Megabass Orochi Xx 7'2 Perfect Pitch
I think you may like the perfect pitch then because the tip is not too fast at all. It's not just a pitching rod. I think what I like about the xx line is how versatile they are. I can use the pp for pitching jigs, frogs, punching vegetation and cast t rigs. You should give Gary at the tackle trap a call. He is a megabass expert and he can answer more specific questions for you. I just wish I could use mine more.

Megabass Orochi Xx 7'2 Perfect Pitch
I have one and I use it for pitching jigs, frogs and heavy t rigs in cover and this rod excels. Not a broom stick and actually loads well casting 1/2oz t rigs. Very sensitive and powerful rod that balances surprisingly well. Unfortunately I don't use it as much as I'd like because 90% of the time I'm fishing open water in the river.

Bps Carbon Lite Rods....
Sorry to hear that..that sucks. Did you lose them? My carbonlite is about 2 years old and never had issues with it. Sensitivity is very good. Also in the same price range are omens which I like a lot, but you should make sure you like the grip because some people find them uncomfortable. Good luck.

How Many Casting Combos?
Lol. A few years ago I had 2 casting combos with a total investment of about $300. I guess I'm just surprised how much money I've put into chasing these fish.

How Many Casting Combos?
How many casting rod/reel combos do you own and how many of those don't really get used? And how much do you have invested in these combos? I just bought my 9th reel and I absolutely didn't need or even want another one, but I can't seem to stop...lol. I probably only use 5 on a regular basis. Now I'm looking for another rod that I don't need. I've got about $3500 in these set ups (8 rods, 9 reels). I never dreamed I'd be sucked in like this. My wife has no idea, my fishing buddies have no idea. Please brothers, help me not feel so ridiculous:)
