Can anyone give me a review of this rod? How is the sensitivity vs some other high end stuff? What do you use it for? Can you compare it to the xx emtf?

For about the same money look at the *** black. I didn't like the guides on the ghost personally. The *** is my favorite rod in that class and it fishes above it's price. It would be a rod you never outgrow. I also have dobyns dx and megabass rods and I still use my *** every trip.

I like faster reels for feel techniques where you use the rod for action. Either the 6.4 or 7.1 will work. Anything slower are for cranking and big spinnerbaits.

Get the penn or a pflueger president.

Can you recommend a good one for my f&s eagle talon 12? My budget is about $200. Should I go with a portable?

I have a perfect pitch. It is a very balanced, sensitive rod. The rod is really cool looking, very exotic. The full cork handle is kind of plain, but I don't mind. The reel seat is very comfortable. I use it for pitching and casting jigs/t rigs 1/2 and up. I also plan to use it for mob flash a rig. I would love to have a full arsenal of this line. My next purchase will more than likely be a diablo.

Or you could wait a few months for the diablo like me.

I think spinnerbait special or emtf. I run leaders through the guides no problem.

Do you have a bps gift card or something? I will reiterate for the money the carbonlite/pq combo is the way to go imo. As far as spinning combos from bps the pflueger trion combo is $60, but for $70 you can get the pflueger president combo which would be a much better deal. If you really need to stick to your budget get the trion combo. I own both reels and really like them, but the president is a much better reel.

x2. Get the carbonlite/pq combo for $160. One of the best values because you get a $100 rod. I have more expensive combos, but I still use carbonlite/pq combo on every fishing trip whether I'm bank fishing, kayaking or in the boat.

Usually I would wait to feel the weight of the fish or see the line move before I reeled the slack and set the hook. This year I've noticed a lot of fish just lightly pecking then nothing. Now I suppose it could be smaller fish just pecking, but it seems like it's tougher to catch fish on senkos this year. Usually they would always come back to it, but now they move on. Are the fish just getting used to seeing senkos. My question is do you guys set the hook as soon as you feel a tap or do you wait?

You can't go wrong with a shimano or pflueger. I would get a 30 size pflueger president and save some money. At $60 it is all I really need.

I use long 8' fluoro leaders on braid. I hear so much about fluoro having slack line sensitivity. Do you think using long leaders will give me the same benefits?

If your going as light as 1/8 use a spinning set up. For me buying rods and reels is more of an addiction. I have more than enough gear, but I just love researching and buying new stuff almost as much as fishing.

I have 2 brakes on and the magnetic set about half way. I have absolutely no problem casting 4" senkos as far as I want. You don't need a special finesse reel for them. They cast like a bullet.

I cast 4" senkos on my pq all the time. The medium rod should load just fine.

The carbonlite you have would be perfect for senkos. I use have 2 rods for senkos: dx743 and a carbonlite. The dx is my absolute favorite, but I also feel like the carbonlite is an excellent rod. Very sensitive for a $100 rod. I hear great things about the avid though and I would go with either the 68mxf or 66mf. The only st croix I ever used was a mojo which I sold. Not a fan, but the avid is supposed to be on another level.

What do you guys think about the curado 101d as a finesse reel? How does it compare to the 51e?

I'm interested in the release of the new megabass xx models. In particular the diablo (7'2" f5). This one will be their #1 seller imo. I was hoping for something between the spinnerbait special and emtf.
