  1. First time getting out with my main fishing buddy this year. Fished a shallow, extremely weedy lake. Started out a wet, rainy daybreak but that gave way to a beautiful morning on the water. Fishing was ok. Lots of bass boated, including a couple chunks. Spinnerbaits, poppers, weedless frogs and senkos did the damage today. Also saw something I’ve never seen before. Loons in trees. Like way up at the top. Didn’t know loons perched on trees so I though it was pretty cool: Also saw a couple bald eagles. Watched one grab a fish right out of the water. 10 years ago eagle sightings were pretty rare around here. Now, I don’t think there is a body of water I fish that doesn’t have a resident eagle.
  2. Looks ready for some cookouts!
  3. @AlabamaSpothunter they are the ERA destroyers ?
  4. And they just posted 6 in the first inning today. Insane!
  5. Been singing it all day
  6. ? “Fire, fire on the mountain” ?
  7. Fishin in the wildfire smoke this morning. Gorgeous morning on the water. Fishing was no good though. This future hawg got things started right off the bat by putting a PopX treble into my hand: Luckily it didn’t take too much to get the hook out of my hand. Only a few more small fish landed today, all on the PopX. The pleasure-goers swarmed the lake by 11:00, and I got the heck out of there. Second time in the last few weeks that fish didn’t hit anything subsurface. My mountain lake hasn’t been fishing as well as I’ve become accustomed to. I’ve been so focused on my main 2023 goal of beating my LM PB, and getting a 7lb class fish and I believe this lake gives me the best odds, based on how well I know it and the sizable fish I pull from here. It’s my current domestic PB holder. Hasn’t been a total dud, but not what I’m used to from this lake.
  8. My heaviest rod is a mag heavy. Use it for froggin mainly but it throws small swimbaits in a pinch.
  9. Braves hang a quick 5 spot on the Fish in the first
  10. Fair enough lol hard to believe how bad that division is and how strong the AL East is. If I’m not mistaken, no team has ever won a division with an sub .500 record. This year might be the year.
  11. The biggest issue is the bullpen, and of course the couple spots in the rotation seem to be up in the air. Strider has calmed down after 2 bad starts, Elder is simply dealing, and Morton is eating innings just like he is supposed to. Getting Wright and Fried back will be huge. But I think before the deadline we have to address the bullpen issue. Minter has been getting knocked around, Iglesias is far from a lights out closer right now, and McCugh has not looked good. Yates has been a godsend of stability for our pen. But with Morton, Elder, Strider, Wright, Morton, Fried, Soroka and A. S-S (unfortunate initials) all healthy and dealing, somebody is gonna be on the block. Soroka seems like the most likely candidate. Even Allard had a good start the other day. They say you can never have enough SP, but we have the potential for 8 quality arms and no room in the rotation. Doing a 6 man rotation takes the ball out of Elder’s and Strider’s hands (and potentially Fried and Wright) too often. Good problem to have, but we have an abundance of SP and a weak pen, so decisions are gonna have to be made. Gonna be sad to see anyone go, but the reality is someone will have to. We need a lights out pen guy. Atlanta has always had good bullpens, and I trust Anthopolis to do what it takes. Guys a brilliant GM.
  12. 20-4 in the month of June, 9-1 their last 10 games, 1st across all the power rankings, Elder leads the league in ERA, Strider breaks a K record every time he pitches, Acuña is the clear MVP favorite, Olson leads the league in HR, they have over 20 HR more than the next best team, over a .500 record against .500+ teams which is a huge indicator. They can only play the teams on their schedule. The Braves are clearly ahead of every other team in the league, all things considered. And all the power rankings confirm! This A-train is speeding down the tracks and mangling everything in its path. And they may have 9 guys go for 20+ HR. NINE! And honestly they have an outside chance at 10 guys because D’Arnaud and Murphy are raking right now. This team is historically good. And remember, this is without their TOP 2 starting pitchers. 21 game winner Kyle Wright, and one of the best LH SP in the game, Max Fried.
  13. Can anybody even touch the Braves right now? Doesn’t seem like it. We’re firing on all cylinders. Stopped Cincy’s win streak and took 2/3 from them in Cincinnati, then swept the first place Twins in short order. And we’re #1 in the power ranking. Even Tampa has nothing on us right now. Been a Braves fan my whole life. Never do I remember seeing an Atlanta team so dominant. Even in the days of Smoltz/Maddux/Glavine or Chipper/Andruw/Sheffield. And doing it all without our 2 top SP. Soroka back on the bump tonight. If he can find his old form, it won’t even be fair to the rest of the league anymore.
  14. 6 total for NYS. St. Lawrence River, Erie/Niagara River, Cayuga, Chataqua, Oneida, and Champlain. NYS is a Mecca of northern bass fishing.
  15. Noodlers are a different breed, man….surprise that thing didn’t pull him in. Can’t imagine the scars the mouth of a 100lb flathead will leave.
  16. Just make sure there aren’t any other boats around.
  17. Really smoky here today as well. Air has been clear the last week or 2 but the haze is back today. Doesn’t smell like a campfire yet but it’s supposed to get worse over the weekend.
  18. @casts_by_fly looks fun. I love lawn games. I’ll play corn hole for hours. We have ladder ball, “rungs” of pvc pipe are worth different number of points, and you toss golf balls tied together and try to get them around the rungs. A lot of fun.
  19. They guaranteed a chuck-free shed for 3 years so it better be impossible!
  20. Blackberries coming in well
  21. Had the professionals here earlier in the week and they installed something that will be digging under the shed impossible for the chucks. This is their “eviction”. A one way door that they can leave from and never get back. The pros are gonna come back in a couple days to remove this and backfill it. I think the woodchuck has already packed up and left because we haven’t seen him and our vegetables haven’t been eaten in a while. Knock on wood.
  22. @TnRiver46 looks like that one has already taken a BB to the face
  23. I agree. One of those skills that is good to have even if you don’t plan on using it.
  24. Nice. Y’all are putting that new boat to some good work.
