  1. You can still catch some 10 lb hawgs prespawn in early March. Depends on some factors like was stated. Ive caught bass over 10lbs in both months while on vacation.
  2. There are no peacock bass in Toho. You have to go to West Palm or anywhere between there and Miami. Pm me if you're interested in a guide for Toho though.
  3. Lake Toho would be my choice if you have the time for a half day trip. Pm me if you'd like some info on guides.
  4. Read in the book where the northern strain genetics will dominate over the f1's which will result in smaller potential down the road.
  5. Latest reports I heard 10 minute ago FLW cancelled the remaining days to focus on the search.
  6. Iv'e been tempted for years to get some f1's shipped up here for a couple of my ponds but don't think they'll make it.
  7. The Florida strain won't survive the temps in Ohio.
  8. Saw the report this morning. My buddy is fishing as co-angler too. Let's hope they find him safe.
  9. Great persistence in the cold weather and two hawgs to top it off. Another week I might be able to target some soft water locally.
  10. This was me a few weeks ago. Only ended up with 2 bass I think. 4lbers so it wasn't too bad and they hit lipless cranks. Another week and I think I'll be able to throw some lures locally only in a few places.
  11. Strange that lake has soft water.
  12. More than likely yes. There is no shortage of ponds in the Kissimmee area and some hold DD fish.
  13. And you can say you fished where Dottie came from. I had to stop there while I was in San Diego. Such a small lake to have that 25lb monster .
  14. Gotta love those Fl golf course and neighborhood ponds. One of my 10's came from one.
  15. I don't know all of the forage but it has quite a bit of yellow perch, crappie and bluegill to chow on. Occasionally catch some. white perch
  16. Hit up the same lake as yesterday to take advantage of 50 degree weather which is very short lived. Threw a couple bigger swimbaits for a short bit with no takers. Tied on an 8'' eel swimbait and 2 bass hammered it. Caught some near the ice again but most were in deeper water. Ended up with 17 bass 1 yellow perch and 3 pickerel. Thought it was going to be a pickerel free day until they showed up at the end of the day. Luckily none of them chewed me off. It's loaded with them with a good amount of 4-5lbers. One of the bass had some forage fish tail showing and still nailed the crank. With the water being 38 I'm glad I didn't have to slow drag jigs all day.
  17. Thanks everyone. They were hammering the same baits today.
  18. They were pretty aggressive today for 38 degree water. Was throwing my go to red lipless and a few other baits. Part of the lake still had ice and I saw some bass swim under the ice in the clear water. Threw the lipless and swimbaits right where the open water and the ice met and caught a bunch that way. They were not lethargic while reeling them in or at boatside as they were thrashing all around. Ended up catching 12 bass, 3 big pickerel, had another couple big ones follow the bait to the boat and turn around, and one big yellow perch. Going to chase after them tomorrow as our weather is taking a dive next week.
  19. Nice tank! Congrats.
  20. If water temps in Orlando get in the lower mid 30's there's going to be major panic in the state lol.
  21. 28'' girth....and I thought my 10.5 with a 20'' girth was a butterball lol.
  22. I get the thinking a 7lber is a 10 plus deal. There have been several exaggerated claims locally including one of a claimed 11lbr that was 33 inches. Right out of the gate I flagged that due to the length. Would have looked like a barracuda. But there are numerous DD caught in FL annually and those are only the ones that are documented.
  23. Nice footage! Time to change your PB in your profile. Those were all from the same day? Soo close to that DD but still can't complain.
  24. Thanks. They are a pita a few places where I fish. Caught 2 over 5lbs same day.
