  1. I thought I knew Mosquitos until I went up into Chippewa National Forest above Grand Rapids MN for the first time a few years back. If you get caught outside at dusk with no DEET, you may not make it......
  2. I use an older Sellus (spinning) for throwing weightless T-rigs. It's a fine rod that has served me well for many years
  3. Yeah...150 bucks? You can't. Forget a used yak or anything. You won't find anything decent for that even used. Save your money and wait
  4. I buy Stik-O's. That is literally ALL I buy at BPS anymore. I was recently in the market to stock up on some GYCB Kreatures so I looked at BPS. 9 bucks. Couldn't believe it.
  5. I shoulda said that I don't get any compensation from him or anything for mentioning his stuff. He's just a guy that makes very good stuff for a very nice price. You can see by the 2 on the lower right that if you can think it, he will make it. Those were my attempts to make a jig in the same colors as a chrome/blue and chrome/black rattle trap. They turned out great and they DID catch fish on bluebird days hopping them across shallow flats. Just like I thought they would!
  6. These. They are custom made and are a cross between a shaky head and a TrashMaster. SS Custom Jigs on FB. Dude's name is Stacy and he can make anything you want. Any color, and most any weight. I don't get anything from him but he sure does get my money when it comes time to needing jigs, Chatterbaits, hair jigs, or spinner baits.
  7. I'm trying but I can't find the joke in "chatter bait" either. Maybe they think you are a "master baiter?" I dunno....lol
  8. For me, it would have to be Ish Monroe, Dean Rojas or Ott Defoe to suck up all that Froggin knowledge
  9. Yeah, me too. It made me laugh when I saw it. It really doesn't represent me in any way. I'm a big burly dude with a head full of silver hair. I look more like Jerry Garcia than a chihuahua with a comb over rug. Replace the guitar with my frog rod and you'd pretty much have me...lol
  10. Middle names of my daughters. Jade and Rose. I usually capitalize the Rose but just forgot when I got on here. I know it's feminine and people have asked me in the past if I was man or a woman. Just a dude that loves his kids and is very comfortable with his own masculinity...lol
  11. As long as another boat isn't muscling me outta my spot, I'm not concerned what they are doing and if I'm asked what I'm throwing or advice on a lake I'm having success on, I give it
  12. Another that I hesitate to tell but it did happen and was completely innocent so here goes......I was at a local reservoir one day a few years ago and was back in a small cove catching dinks on the opposite side of the lake as the boat ramp and public use area when I saw some folks pull up and get out stand up paddle boards and paddle away from shore. Didn't think anything about until I heard "Hi". I looked up to see a man and a quite lovely woman at the entrance to the cove standing on their paddle boards buck naked. I said "Hi" back and the woman said "Lovely day, ain't it?" Me: "Uhm...yeah it is". Woman: "Catching anything?" Me: "Few little ones" Woman: "Have a great day!" Me: "Thank you. You too!" and then they paddled away. I saw them paddle around for a bit, put their suits back on before going to shore, and leave.
  13. Went back into a small inlet stream in the little lake I fish one day to see if anything was biting and eat lunch in my bass raider. Stream narrows down pretty good. There is a downed tree that has fallen over that acts like a natural bridge. It's obvious that wildlife uses it as such. I was sitting there quietly having a bite when a juvenile coyote popped out of the underbrush to go across the "bridge". He didn't see me. Couldn't have been more than 3 or 4 feet away. He got about halfway across when I said, "Hi, Buddy". Then he became a cartoon! Jumped straight up into the air and was running in place until he came back down and took off like he'd been shot. I still giggle about it when I'm back there.
  14. Seriously? I think this is a "hey....look at my new toy" thread....lol
  15. Dawn. Hot summer morning. Work some morning topwater and then troll the banks, stumps, points. brush piles and laydowns with a jig or t-rigged senko. This is biding my time, you see. I'm waiting for the sun to go high and the fish to go under those heavy muck mats. Especially the shaded ones. Then it's frog time. Most will have put the frog away by then. That's when I break it out!
  16. I do have a lucky ball cap. Nothing special and it's barely hanging together but I sure ain't comfortable wearing a different hat. It's my one "thing". I can't begin to guess how many times I've retrieved it from the water after it blew off my head. It will receive a proper sea burial when it's time finally comes
  17. To OP..are you talking Lake Kincaid Illinois? You might try staying in MO if possible. Mo's DNR is way better funded than Illinois. Lake Kincaid might simply be depleted. Ex Illinoisan here. MO offers WAY better fishing across the board than Illinois does. It's a shame as I love my home state. Especially that part of it. I grew up in Southern Illinois and went to school in Carbondale. I think.....I don't remember much of it
  18. Where you at? I'm in NOWEMO and my PB is a little over 9.
  19. My style is "whatever the conditions present to me" Also known as "junk"
  20. Completely this although I would add the words "and access". Am I an expert bass fisherman? Good Lord, no. Not even sorta. BUT to some, I am. I'm sure I am not the only person on this site that is known in their local area or job as a "bass fisherman" and has people ask for their opinion about or tips for fishing and usually I can answer them without just making up some BS. Why would they ask ME about all this? They have access to me. They don't have access to the guys on here or the pros they know about.
  21. I used the Fastachs before I got proficient at tying knots. They work great and are easy to use. As far as the conventional wisdom about using swivels and stuff? Who Cares! Do what you need to do to enjoy some quality fishing time. Fish don't care if you're using swivels. Find one that works for you, use it and enjoy
